The 4 Questions You Must Answer To Intoxicate Your Life Jul 24, 2023
    Show notes

You don’t need to be disciplined or determined in order to get your shit done, but you must be DEVOTED.

Devotion is a mix of love, loyalty and enthusiasm. You must LOVE the experience AS you live it, be loyal and consistent to doing it in a way that aligns to your truest self, and deeply excited and lit up by the experience.

Devotion is also having the sustainable energy for the things that light you up because they matter to you the most.

You have a four-ingredient Signature Cocktail for intoxicating your life. When we’re lit up and intoxicated, we’re simultaneously DEVOTED to experiences and habits that align with our best selves.

The first ingredient in any Signature Cocktail is a “spirit” or type of liquor. Our “spirit” is being lit up, inspired, or animated.

Feeling lit up and inspired creates the devotion you need to show up for your habits, routines, and rituals.

When an opportunity or experience lights you up or animates you, you will be magnetically pulled to the experience because it is a full-body HELL YES. Once you’re lit up, you’re able to create habits, routines, and rituals that will allow you to sustain the experience.

The second and third ingredients in a Signature Cocktail are a powerful fusion of:

    • a hint of sweet like a simple syrup, tonic, or juice
    • a touch a sour like a squeeze of lemon or lime

The fusion of these two flavors enhance the cocktail.

Your sweet/sour is an emotional theme:

    • satisfaction/frustration
    • success/bitterness/resentment
    • peace/anger
    • delight/surprise/disappointment

Your “sweet” reminds you that you’re in alignment with your true self. Your “sour” invites you to get curious about the role your Inner Critic is playing in your life.

The fourth ingredient in a Signature Cocktail is the garnish. The garnish is never an after-thought - it is an integral part of the experience of enjoying the craft cocktail.

We, too, must “garnish” our lives with ENJOYMENT. When we experience enjoyment, we are seeped IN a joy mindset.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • What lights me up and inspires me?
    • When do I feel deeply satisfied, successful, peaceful, delighted, or surprised?
    • When do I feel frustrated, bitter, resentful, angry, or disappointed?
    • What do I genuinely and whole-heartedly enjoy?

Why You DON’T Have To Be Determined or Disciplined Jul 20, 2023
    Show notes

You don’t need to be disciplined or determined in order to get your shit done, but you must be DEVOTED.

My brilliant podcast producer, Rubi, sent me this note:

“... I’d LOVE to hear a mini series on your podcast about how you stay consistent and determined to the things you set your mind to - for example, the daily episodes.”

Thank you, Rubi, for the terrific series suggestion!

As I pondered, I realized that I never “set my mind to” what I want to get done - I am able to show up consistently because I’m devoted to only those experiences that genuinely light me up.

Devotion is a mix of love, loyalty and enthusiasm. You must LOVE the experience AS you live it, be loyal and consistent to doing it in a way that aligns to your truest you, and deeply excited and lit up by the experience.

Devotion is also having the sustainable energy for the things that light you up because they matter to you the most.

When an opportunity or experience lights me up or animates me, I am magnetically pulled to the experience because it is a full-body HELL YES for me. Once I’m lit up, I’m able to create habits, routines, and rituals that will allow us to sustain the experience.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When do you notice feeling lit up or animated personally?
    • When do you notice feeling lit up or animated professionally?
    • When do you notice feeling alive or animated?

How Seeking More Dilutes Your Joy Jul 19, 2023
    Show notes

These are the 6 habits that will dilute your joy:

    • “busy” work
    • obligations
    • shoulds
    • seeking more
    • balancing your time and energy
    • a one-size-fits-all approach

When we are in the habit of “seeking more” we are typically doing so from a place of inferiority, inadequacy, or insufficiency. When we commit to creating something different, we are determined to make space for what we desire to create.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When do you notice getting stuck in comparison-itis and seeking more?
    • When do you notice looking outside yourself for more?
    • When do you notice looking inward for hints of the “different” you want to create?
    • How willing are you to distill out anything that prevents you from creating what you really desire?
    • What do you really want to ditch from your life?

How Shoulds Dilute Your Joy Jul 18, 2023
    Show notes

These are the 6 habits that will dilute your joy:

    • “busy” work
    • obligations
    • shoulds
    • seeking more
    • balancing your time and energy
    • a one-size-fits-all approach

When we don’t do what we tell ourselves that we “should” do, we topple into shame. When we shame ourselves, we call ourselves names based on “black and white” labels like “good” or “bad”. Shoulds will also dilute your integrity.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • What SHOULDS fuel your behavior?
    • When do you notice feeling shame when you don’t measure up to your SHOULDS?
    • What are you telling yourself that you SHOULD do or be?
    • What are you telling yourself that you SHOULDN’T do or be?
    • How willing are you to substitute COULD or MUST for SHOULD?
    • How might you complete this prompt:
    • “If I’m not doing what I SHOULD, he/she will think, feel, or say THIS about me.”

How Obligations Dilute Your Joy Jul 17, 2023
    Show notes

These are the 6 habits that will dilute your joy:

    • “busy” work
    • obligations
    • shoulds
    • seeking more
    • balancing your time and energy
    • a one-size-fits-all approach

An OBLIGATION is anything that you say YES to that was a NO or a NOT YET.

    Obligations dilute your joy by:

    • cluttering your life
    • deplete your limited time and energy
    • fill the space that must stay open for YESSES

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When do you notice saying YES when you mean NO?
    • When do you notice saying YES when you mean NOT YET?
    • When don’t you trust yourself to decide what’s best or true for you?
    • When do you say YES to:
      • people-please?
      • avoid confrontation?
    • How willing are you to distill the unnecessary and obligatory YESSES from your life?

    • “busy” work
    • obligations
    • shoulds
    • seeking more
    • balancing your time and energy
    • a one-size-fits-all approach

“Busy” work dilutes your joy by:

    • wasting your time and energy with unimportant tasks and activities
    • failing to challenge you
    • not requiring you to use your gifts and talents
    • cluttering up your schedule

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When do you notice doing “busy” work?
    • What prevents you from saying NO to “busy” work?
