    Your Praise-Worthy Achievements Nov 12, 2023
    Show notes

In their book ADHD 2.0, authors Edward M. Hallowell, M.D. and John J. Raley, M.D. encourage readers to discern their “right difficult”:

“What’s your outlet, stage…. or tool? What’s your right kind of difficult?”

Your “difficult” is your superpower - what lights you up and challenges you to squirm just beyond your comfort zone.

There are questions we can answer to discern our right difficult - here’s the third one:

“What 4 achievements have you received the most praise for?”

Self-Awareness Post Kettle Corn Debacle Nov 09, 2023

The real goal of personal development is to increase your self-awareness regarding why you do what you do when you default to habits that don’t serve you long-term.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • How willing are you to be curious about why you do what you do after a “failure”?
    • When do you notice guilting or shaming yourself when things don’t go as planned?

    Why You’re Criticized Nov 08, 2023
    Show notes

“You’ll never be criticized by someone who is doing more than you. You’ll always be criticized by someone doing less. Remember that.”

    Denzel Washington

We get criticized and criticize others from a place of inferiority (if we’re in comparison-itis) or superiority (if we’re in competition to others).

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When do you notice criticizing others because you feel inferior to them?
    • When do you notice competing with others because you feel superior to them?

Don’t Take Their Criticism If You Wouldn’t Take Their Advice Nov 07, 2023
    Show notes

“Some of the best advice I’ve been given: ‘Don’t take criticism from people you would never go to for advice.”

    Morgan Freeman

When we believe our Inner Critic’s fearful chatter, we are accepting criticism from the part of us that’s not reliable for wise advice.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When do you believe your Inner Critic’s criticism?
    • How willing are you to trust your body for advice, rather than your Inner Critic?

    Tattle-Tales And Intrusive Thoughts Nov 05, 2023
    Show notes

Tattle-tales will continue to tattle if they get the attention they seek from doing so, or if their complaints are taken seriously. Our intrusive thoughts will keep coming if we argue with them, react to them by trying to falsely comfort ourselves, or act on the information given in our thoughts.

I invite you to consider these questions:

    • When do you notice arguing with or trying to avoid your thoughts?
    • When do you notice trying to comfort yourself when you have anxious thoughts?
    • How willing are you to respond to anxious, intrusive thoughts with something like this?
      • “There’s my brain offering intrusive thoughts.”
      • “These thoughts just aren’t that important.”
