Micro Queers: Inherit The Witch (2024) Oct 07, 2024

Show notes

Pop in that 1984 videocassette because we're checking out writer/director Cradeaux Alexander's Inherit The Witch (2024). Sadly we're not recommending this one.

Despite a few fun performances and an unexpected ending, the feuding family film is overly plotted, feels drawn out, and features some pretty dodgy acting. It's just not for us.

Gone Girl (2014) Oct 02, 2024

Show notes

Check your red panty inventory and hide that bottle of Chardonnay because we're discussing David Fincher's exceptional adaptation of Gillian Flynn's bestseller Gone Girl in the third week of our Anniversaries and Diva Worship theme. Be a "Cool Girl" and give us a listen!

Join us as we dig into the origins of Flynn's source novel before going all in on this 2.5-hour juggernaut of a film (and yet it flies by???). From Rosamund Pike's Oscar-nominated performance to the accusations of misogyny, there's no shortage of things to discuss in this densely plotted film.

Plus: Carrie Coon (and Missi Pyle!) worship, atrocious accent attempts, thoughts on the Outback Steakhouse, treasure hunts and world class vaginas.

Micro Queers: Hauntology (2024) Sep 30, 2024

Show notes

Gather your queers and your WOC because we're talking Parker Brennon's anthology Hauntology (2024).

This collection of tales is quintessential gateway horror, featuring several famous folks (some we know; some we should) and very cute horror homages.

Plus: our fave and least fave segments, its unabashed queerness and Trace's appreciation of the sound design!

Birth (2004) Sep 25, 2024

Show notes

It's a 'Joe pick' for the second week of our Gay Icons & Anniversaries theme as the boys discuss Jonathan Glazer's modern classic Birth (2004).

Starring Nicole Kidman as a woman grieving her dead husband, Birth was a lightning rod for controversy, but it's so much more than its bathtub scene and reincarnation plot.

Plus: why Bright's casting prompted a complete script rewrite, ties to Rosemary's Baby, a superb Anne Heche, and the two minute long take that should have earned Kidman an Oscar nom. This is a gay masterpiece, people!

Pretty Little Liars S02: Summer School (2024) Sep 20, 2024

Show notes

With the recent cancellation of PLL, we're releasing our Patreon exclusive on season 2 of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin......Pretty Little Liars: Summer School (spoiler alert: summer school isn't really important this season).

Join us as we go through the many, many characters the show has, discussing what worked and what didn't about the many, many subplots crammed into this season's 8 episodes. A lot of it works! And a lot of it doesn't.

Plus: the "fandom's" hate for Noa, punny business names, this season's MVPs and that/those killer reveal(s).

Redux: Jennifer's Body (2009) feat. Mae Shults Sep 18, 2024

Show notes

Put away that Thai food and get ready to be lime green Jell-O because we're celebrating our 300th episode with a month-long theme of gay icons and anniversaries! And what better way to kick things off than by revisiting a film we covered in one of our earliest episodes? That's right, it's time to revisit Jennifer's Body (2009)! Tagging in for the conversation is Mae Shults, the co-host of the Lady Killers Podcast!

Join us as we begin this super-sized, 3-hour episode (yes, really) by doing a proper deep dive into the film's production history (our format has changed a bit since we discussed it way back in 2019), including a lengthy conversation about the public shaming Megan Fox endured after she made some comments about Michael Bay.

Plus: script leaks, "Twilight for boys," a lesson in polyamory, wetties, afterbirth prom dresses and so much more. When all is said and done, we can finally cross out Jennifer's Body!
