Micro Queers: Livescreamers (2023) Oct 25, 2024

Show notes

Beware of dark web games and toxic workplaces because we're checking out Michelle Iannantuono's Livescreamers (2023).

There's a lot to like about this, from gaming Easter Eggs to big topic issues in gaming and online environments. A few plot beats don't entirely work for us, but it's easy to forgive that when gamers are being sprayed with blood!

Night of the Demons (1988) Oct 23, 2024

Show notes

Ditch the school dance and come party with Angela because we're talking Kevin S. Tenney's Night of the Demons (1988).

Not a lot of character or plot in this one, but it's a really fun time with some stylish direction and great FX.

Plus: Angela as a dancing (nepo) icon, Linnea Quigley's line deliveries, Rodger as a rare black 80s horror survivor, and subverting the "good boy/bad boy" trope with Jay and Sal.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974) feat. Rachel Reeves Oct 09, 2024

Show notes

Rev that chainsaw and break a window (or two) because we are celebrating Tobe Hooper's classic film, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974).

Hitching a ride in the van is The Losers' Club and Halloweenies co-host Rachel Reeves, who offers invaluable insight into the sound design of the film.

Plus: defending Franklin, iconic shots, treating people as meat, Leatherface as matriarch, and a lot of screaming.

Oh, and if you want more Ed Gein backstory, check out Joe's other podcast: Murder Made Fiction!
