    CelticsPod: What's going wrong? Feb 19, 2021
    Show notes

Adam is joined by Bobby Manning of CLNS, CelticsBlog & Boston Sports Journal to discuss where things are currently going wrong for this Celtics team. Is the bench too young and inexperienced? Is Brad Stevens to blame? Perhaps it's a trust issue? Or did Atlanta play their socks off to impress Nate McMillian in Lloyd Pierce's absence? There's a bunch of moving pieces right now, but it's clear something - or rather lots of things - aren't working right now. Learn more about your ad choices. Visit podcastchoices.com/adchoices

Celtics PRIDE: The Sky Is Falling Feb 16, 2021
    Show notes

On this episode of Celtics PRIDE, Adam Motenko stays neutral, Mike Minkoff shares nerdy stats about how poor the Celtics offense is compared to the rest of the league and Coach Josh Motenko tries to provide big picture perspective to the mentality that many Celtics fans feel these days - that the sky is falling. Josh coins the new psychological disorder, the Sky Is Falling Anxiety Syndrome (SIFAS). If you’re having any of the following belief symptoms, you may have SIFAS. 1. The worst case scenario is happening before our eyes. 2. The coach isn't being listened to anymore. 3. The stars will leave us because that's how the NBA works. 4. Fire someone, quick! 5. Trade someone! 6. I'm jumping off the Tobin Bridge. Coach Josh then outlines the many reasons why the sky is actually not falling, from what the standings are telling us about so many middling teams across the league, to variance of point differentials being historically high this year for NBA teams - including the Celtics - to the impact of COVID on both team success and fan experience. The crew then comes up with some solutions. Listen to how they would fix things at this juncture. The Celtics PRIDE team wants to remind you not to panic because Marcus Smart will be back soon, and we will be seeing a very different outcome. Celtics PRIDE: The C's go West and the Celtics Pride TPE Big Board! Feb 09, 2021
    Show notes

On this episode of Celtics PRIDE, Adam Motenko, Josh Motenko and Mike Minkoff discuss the Celtics' 2-2 West Coast swing against the Warriors, Kings, Clippers, and Suns. The consider whether there's cause for concern over Kemba (spoiler: there isn't and y'all need to calm down), how excited we should be about the progress of young guys like (first time starter) Carsen Edwards and hot-stroking Grant Williams (depends who you ask). And whether Celtics units led by Brown are more effective than those led by Tatum.. Then, the team unveils the Celtics Pride TPE Big Board -- the composite top 5 (well, 6 it turned out) TPE targets after starting with a list of 35 candidates from which each of Josh, Adam, and Mike's picked and scored their preferred respective top 5 targets. One of us floats trading Marcus Smart to get Draymond Green and we collectively grapple with whether the Celtics should target a player with multiple years left, or somebody set to become a Free Agent. Hovering over it all are questions about the team's greatest position of need, whether using the TPE mid-season (versus after the season) is the best time, and whether the Celtics (and Tatum and Brown) have already entered their championship contention window. Celtics PRIDE: The Tatum Maturity Bulls-eye Feb 02, 2021
    Show notes

On this episode of Celtics PRIDE, Adam Motenko, Josh Motenko and Mike Minkoff touch on all the reasons we could be concerned but aren’t - from the Celtics’ inability to keep from scoring on their own basket, to Jeff Teague’s inability to hit his floater, to Pritchard being out and now Marcus Smart’s recent injury. Then they share thoughts on Kemba’s poor play after his leader-like comments in the media about Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum not needing to change anything about how they’re playing - because it should be Kemba who makes the adjustment. Mike and Josh squash the Aaron Nesmith debate with a bet: on whether Nesmith will shoot over 38% at any point throughout his rookie contract - and they dig up a similar bet made in 2019 for Carsen Edwards. Hopefully now, they can let the on-court play do the talking. The Celtics PRIDE crew shoots down the JJ Redick trade rumors as both something that seems unlikely to happen and unlikely to bolster the Boston lineup much given Redick’s severely declining mobility and recent play. Coach Josh then highlights a couple Jayson Tatum plays from the Spurs and Lakers that exemplify both Tatum’s greatness and his struggles with details that remind fans of his play that ended last year’s playoffs. Josh argues Tatum reducing these detail-mistakes is the number one theme to watch for the rest of the year. “Tatum’s maturity is the fulcrum that everything is balancing on, and we will win a championship once we see this maturity. That is the bulls-eye for this team and this season… ...It’s good that we lost to the Lakers and are thus going to be even hungrier when we see them again” - Josh Motenko They give Rob WIlliams some love before emphasizing that after all the work Jaylen Brown did to get out the vote prior to the last election, we as fans need to repay the favor by voting him into the all-star game. After taking a team-friendly deal, helping Brown get his 1.3 million all-star bonus from is the least we can do as fans to directly help him out - since fan voting accounts for 50% of the All Star voting. Now the only question is, could Jaylen win the Most Improved Player Award this year?
