Celtics PRIDE: Evaluating the stars and bench so far, plus Josh and Mike can't stop fighting Jan 26, 2021
    Show notes

On this episode of Celtics PRIDE, Adam Motenko, Josh Motenko and Mike Minkoff begin to evaluate the season thus far, especially focusing on the stars and depth. This year’s squad needs Jaylen Brown and Jason Tatum to make a leap and Kemba Walker to get healthy. The crew discusses the likelihood of that future and regrets previous limitations they put on Jaylen Brown’s ceiling. Then they evaluate the new free agents Tristan Thompson and Jeff Teague as well as review Brad Stevens’ evaluation of those players. The guys update Romeo’s return and potential impact and the massive hole on the wing that Aaron Nesmith is simply not ready to fill. They also play the True or False game - Is Tristan Thompson a worse Embiid defender than Enes Kanter? Is Semi Ojeleye an acceptable rotation player for a deep playoff team? Finally Mike and Josh get into another argument about whether leadership and skill development parallels exist between the NBA and the traditional workforce. “I appreciate you and your coaching buddies snickering about my comments. I stand by them, to be honest. I think you are being arrogant and dismissive of the fact that the rest of the world probably operates in ways that have similarities to a world that you are thinking is very unique on its own.” - Mike Minkoff to Josh and his “coaching buddies.” Remember to rate, review, and subscribe to the Celticsblog podcast feed (we're “Celtics PRIDE”) and follow us on Twitter @celticspridepod, a @celticsblog podcast. Celtics PRIDE: Is Aaron Nesmith a bust? Are there silver linings to players getting COVID now as opposed to later? Jan 19, 2021
    Show notes

On this episode of Celtics PRIDE, Adam Motenko, @coachmotenko and @mikeminkoffnba discuss COVID-19 details faced by the NBA, from how positive tests and other covid related Information is publicized, to addressing whether teams with more covid positive players give them some sort of immunity silver lining. In a season when unsung players are having big games around the NBA and getting opportunities they wouldn’t have otherwise, the Celtics PRIDE team delve into whether we are seeing this happen as much with our Celtics squad. They then judge whether 1st round draft pick Aaron Nesmith is getting enough playing time in this environment to play through his mistakes. “It looks like he has 16 things going on in his head as he’s playing.” Adam Motenko, And then Mike questions whether hiring people in business is aquatable to picking and adding draft picks to an NBA team, before sharing some advanced stats on the two-big lineup of Daniel Theis and Tristan Thompson in a Celtics PRIDE favorite segment “Talk Nerdy To Me.” Remember to rate, review, and subscribe to the Celticsblog podcast feed (we're “Celtics PRIDE”) and follow us on Twitter @celticspridepod, a @celticsblog podcast.
