Special guest on today’s episode! Minnesota Distance Elite’s Elena Hayday joins Karen, Rachel, and Megan after her huge 2:24:45 breakthrough at the Boston Marathon, where she finished as the 6th American woman and 13th overall.
Before joining Minnesota Distance Elite, Elena ran for the University of Minnesota, where she posted a 17:10 personal best in the 5K. Following college, she rediscovered her love for running, gradually improved over the years, and now finds herself as one of the top American marathoners.
Elena is currently a full-time neuroscience PhD student, and she shares how she balances her training with her busy schedule. She also offers advice she would give to her college runner self, insight for those looking to take their running to the next level despite not having standout college careers, and the mental shifts that have helped fuel her improvement.

Rachel just had her biggest breakthrough yet! On Sunday, she ran 1:14 for a massive personal best in one of the most surprising races she's had. She breaks it down with Karen and Megan and shares about arriving at the course late, not being able to get in a warm up, thoughts throughout the race, and closing in a 5:13 for the last mile of the race.
