Karen and Megan reunite for the first time since mile 24 of the Indianapolis Marathon for an overdue recap of Megan’s 2:41, four minute personal best. While it’s hard to be disappointed, she’s hungry for more and has an exciting new brand backing her OTQ chase.
In other news, friend of the pod Molly Seidel was in town and witnessed Karen’s unfortunate struggle of moving a couch into her apartment. Karen shares her plans to join Molly in an upcoming stint in Flagstaff and get into the parody documentary industry. We also spitball some ideas for marathon expos (imagine having a hair braiding station!) and discuss the controversial topic of wearing watches to formal events.
This week’s Chick Chat prompts an important discussion: when do you retire your running shoes? Plus, we’ll be rooting for our alma maters Notre Dame and Northwestern at the NCAA Cross Country Championships on Saturday.

Beyond Megan’s big day in Indy, seven women ran sub 2:37 to earn their OTQs. We share a bit about their amazing performances!
We also talk about a recent Wall Street Journal article on how a reporter used ChatGPT to create her marathon training plan. We wrap up with a listener question on how to make the most of strength training as a distance runner.

It’s marathon week for Megan! She’s in taper mode and sharing her final pre-race thoughts as she gears up for the Indianapolis Marathon this weekend (with Karen cheering her on from the sidelines!).
We also recorded this episode just before the NYC Marathon, so we chat about who we were excited to watch and the potential OTQs on the line. Plus, we dive into the controversy surrounding the Marine Corps Marathon after runners learned their OTQ results wouldn’t count due to the race not being USATF sanctioned.
We also couldn’t resist a little bit of gear talk: what's the best type of top to wear on race day?

Now she’s heading back to Chicago with momentum on her side.
In addition to sharing about Chicago, Aubrey talks about the balance of training at a high level while working as a math teacher, the transition from NCAA racing to professional road running, and what it was like growing up and starting her running journey in Wyoming. Plus, she shares a peek into her training and some of the workouts that have helped her level up.
