Kim and I are OBSESSED with health and feeling our best, so in this episode, we wanted to share several of our favorite health hacks. Both of us have tried just about everything, some things worked and some didn’t. By adding what we share today into our daily routine, we have both noticed drastic changes in our own personal health and wellness.

    We talk about:

    1. Adaptogens: what they are + what they do
    2. Bone broth + its gut health impact
    3. Fasting + the different styles you can try
    4. Bedtime belly buster: what it is + why you should do it
    5. Sleep + creating more of it

As always, the health hacks that we use are the ones that work for us. Before adding or changing up your routine, consult with your doctor.

Welcome to the Work Hard Play Hard 12 Days of Christmas countdown! We’re approaching the end of the year and getting focused on our goals and what we want to do in 2020, so I’m replaying the interviews that I think have had the most impact.

This episode is with Jordan Harbinger, master interviewer and human dynamics guru. Jordan spent 11 years building his former podcast and business, The Art of Charm. Then his business partners fired him and his team.

Jordan says getting fired from The Art of Charm was the best thing that ever happened to him. It forced him to reevaluate his priorities and showed him the real assets of a business. He lost the email list, website and all the web traffic, but his business partners couldn’t take Jordan’s personal brand or the relationships he had built with his fans, his team and the people in his network. Jordan’s team joined him to create a new podcast, The Jordan Harbinger Show. Many of them even worked for free or half-pay to get it up and running and The Jordan Harbinger Show is now an incredibly successful podcast.

Sterling Griffin’s whole personal development and entrepreneurial journey really started to take off in 2015. In October of that year, instead of spending his last few dollars on rent, he went to a Tony Robbins seminar. His key takeaway from the event was that he had to start spending time with successful people so he found a community of coaches and spiritual people in Encinitas near San Diego.

His big breakthrough came when he was complaining to one of those coaches about how he wasn’t selling enough of his online fitness programs. She asked him who his business mentor was but he didn’t have one. Despite the fact that he was living in his car and on his friends’ couches, he borrowed some money and got a coach. That turned out to be the missing piece in his success. He went from being homeless to making over $100,000 in seven months and other fitness coaches wanted to learn what he was doing right so he began teaching them. Now his business is focused on helping struggling fitness professionals create 6-figure coaching businesses in 90 days or less.

    In This Conversation We Cover:

    • [8:03] Are entrepreneurs born or made?
    • [11:13] The impact of Tony Robbins
    • [20:26] Sterling’s dream to make transformation accessible to more people

Today Kim and I are talking about goal rollover. We’re on the eve of a new year and a new decade so goal-setting is in full swing. But who’s rolling over goals that they haven’t accomplished yet? Maybe ones that you set in 2017 or 2018.

We’re not talking about goals where you fell a little short on the outcome, we’re talking about goals where you didn’t make any progress whatsoever.

This is how we set goals and make sure that we achieve them.

    1. Be passionate about your goal

If you forget what your goal is, that’s a sign you’re not excited about it. Goals should not just look good on paper, they should be outcomes that would make a real difference in your life. For example, getting rid of debt is great but you won’t get excited about it unless you think about what it means, for example being able to work less and spend more time with your family.

    2. You have to figure out the steps to accomplish your goal

It might take a while to set up the system and the infrastructure to achieve your goal so give yourself the grace and time to do that. One of my goals is to learn to surf but there’s a whole bunch of things I have to do first, like learn to swim better and buy a bathing suit that’s not going to fall off me in the waves.

    3. String habits together

I've got a morning routine that leads from one thing into the next thing. So the night before I have my yoga mat and my clothes laid out for me, I've got my coffee set up for me. My alarm is set for 6am. So I go from the alarm into the routine. And once that gets hardwired in, it's impossible to not do it. It's like you're not even using any bandwidth in your brain because it already knows what to do.

    4. Celebrate milestones on the way

Happiness is not waiting at the end of the rainbow when you’ve accomplished a goal. You have to find it along the way or your achievement won’t last. (Ever lost weight then gained it back in the following months?)

What are your goals for the next year? We hope this helps you reimagine and rethink them so you don’t end up rolling them over into 2021.
