    FTN small square

We do a little hype for Warzone: Atlanta this episode. We get to talk about two great sponsors for this event before getting it our 40k chats. As we see more codexes come out we discuss what you’ll lose if you decide to blend factions.

    Hi All,

If you haven’t already, please check out the FTN 8th Edition Missions. They will make your games of 8th edition more competitive and fun. They are even in a ready to go tournament format.

We open the show talking about a couple of sponsors for our event Warzone: Atlanta. We’ve mentioned it before but Impudent Mortal is still running their 20% off promotion on their RUST line until the end of the month. Use promo code Warzone20 to save!

Pop Goes the Monkey joins the sponsor fray this week! These guys have an awesome Shapeways store with tons of custom accessories you can’t find anywhere else. We have personally used them and they are great! Please support the guys that support us.

In the middle of the show Paul gets the pleasure of speaking with Pay Meyer, one of the minds behind the Table of Ultimate gaming. They have a KickStarter going on right now. It full funded in the first 5 minutes. That really speaks to the quality and design of this table. Please check out the pics below and their KickStarter page!

The Finishing Moves segment is sponsored by Frontline Gaming. Their new mats are now hot off the presses and getting ready to be shipped. Please check them out, even if you already have a game mat. Their new styles are very impressive. If you haven’t already get your tickets NOW for the mega Las Vegas Open.

There is just a half of a Finishing Moves this week. Paul talks about panting a harlequin Death Jester. Don’t make the same mistake he did! Ha.

FTN Episode 202 – Can Grey Knights Win in 8th? Aug 17, 2017
    Show notes

    FTN small square

Andrew and Horton are back in this episode to talk about army list design. Specifically we cover the core elements of Grey Knights and Chaos Space Marines World Eaters. People seem to think World Eaters are one dimensional. That is not the case. Grey Knights are an elite force where you are scrapping for points but we think we have it figured out.

    Hi Guys,

If you haven’t already, please check out the FTN 8th Edition Missions. They will make your games of 8th edition more competitive and fun. They are even in a ready to go tournament format.

In the first segment we tackle the core of what we think is a good Grey Knights list. You can’t ignore how cool it is to be able to field a Grand Master in a Dreadknight. I’m not convinced you need two but Andrew has other ideas. Still, if you are considering GKs as your army, you may want to consider some of the points we detail here.

In the middle of the show we are able to catch up with Benson Green from Mindworm Games. Benson is part of a string of segments where we cover the world of game design and production. As a cautionary tale we talk a little bit about what he would have done differently if he was starting fresh. Benson is a great guy. Please check out his website here.

In part three we let Horton tell us what he’s thinking about with competitive Khorne/World Eater builds. The core is powerful and a contender in any meta. He leaves a few points left over for you to customize but we also come back to the thought that Summoning Daemons is great!

Finishing Moves this week is about masking. I know… it sounds boring but if you do it right and don’t get intimidated about screwing your model us then it can really open up your potential.

FTN Episode 201 – Summoning Daemons – Is it Good Again? Aug 10, 2017
    Show notes

    FTN small square

Lesser Daemons are in the Chaos Space Marine codex and they have gone through a couple of changes. Point decreases, Power Level Decreases and Rules Changes… We cover a few in this episode and ask “Is Summoning Good Again?” I think so.

    Hi Guys,

If you haven’t already, please check out the FTN 8th Edition Missions. They will make your games of 8th edition more competitive and fun. They are even in a ready to go tournament format.

Like we say above Bloodletters, Daemonettes, Horrors and Plaguebearers are all a little different in the Chaos Space Marine codex. Folks are saying that these will replace the index versions. We don’t answer that here. Only GW and your TO can clarify that. We do talk about the potential of summoning to both gain advantage after the game has started and as a way to limit your deployment drops. Remember… points set aside for reserves doesn’t count against your detachment faction bonuses. There was an error in the first release of the show where we day deployment from a vehicle didn’t count as movement.. that has been corrected.

The second part of the show we talk a little about Warzone: Atlanta and we feature a sponsor who has graciously given us a coupon code to share for their RUST terrain line. Please check out Impudent Mortal and use code Warzone20 to receive 20% off until the end of this month (Aug 2017)

Paul sings the songs of the Noise Marines in this show too. They have a powerful ability to shoot their weapons once more when the die, even if they are in close combat. The can throw out a ton of shots at 24 inches and they really worth looking at.

Finishing Moves this week is about lining up your lettering. We have all been there where we start out trying to scribble on a plague or purity seal and end up not using the space wisely. We go over some tips on how to make it look awesome.

FTN Episode 200 – 8th Edition Chaos Space Marine AND Grey Knight Codex Review! Aug 05, 2017
    Show notes

    FTN small square

The fates have aligned… Episode 200 is here and this is jam packed with TWO codex reviews. The episode is also two hours long! We have the books in hand and we talk about both of these factions. You don’t want to miss this.

    Hi All,

If you haven’t already, please check out the FTN 8th Edition Missions. They will make your games of 8th edition more competitive and fun. They are even in a ready to go tournament format.

We start off speaking about Grey Knights. The Grey Knight get the new space marine flyers added to their arsenal. That’s pretty neat and gives you a way to add more versatile flyer support to your army while staying completely within your faction. You guys have already heard about the Grand Master in dreadknight armor… there is so much more.

Chaos is hard to contain to an hour. Just like the GK, expect a lot more coverage on these down the road and on our YouTube page. If you play World Eaters this is your codex. IMO they are the clear winners but there are tons of cool things in this book. Lesser Daemons make a return. I did not expect that! Death Guard and Thousand Sons are defintely getting their own book so they aren’t represented here but you do get rules to add all the cult troops – DG, EC, 1kSons, and Zerks – to lists. Outside of those two legions, the others are represented and there is a very powerful option to build your own.

    FTN Episode 199 – Codexes – The other 90% of Warhammer 40k 8th Edition Jul 28, 2017
    Show notes

    FTN small square

This is another double sized episode with an exclusive interview with Cool Mini Or Not about their Song of Ice and Fire wargame live on Kickstarter right now. We also talk about some up coming events and Finishing Moves is back!

    Hey Guys,

We cover a lot of stuff this episode ranging from the FTN 8th Edition Missions, The CMON Kickstarter, and the new Space Marines codex.

There are a few differences in the Codex from the Index published a few weeks ago. We don’t get bogged down talking about every one of them but we do point a few important things. This big take away is make sure you look at the points and weapon options closely before going into your next game with Marines.

The Game of Thrones War-game kickstarter is on fire. This is what we’ve come to expect from Cool Mini campaigns but it is still fun to see it happen.

This Finishing Moves segment is about painting stripes. On something small like a Space Marine head this can be very intimidating. We try to take some of the fear out of it for you. Please let us know if you give it a shot.

    FTN Episode 198 – 40k 8th Edition Space Marine Codex Review Jul 22, 2017
    Show notes

    FTN small square

We took a week off but we are back with a double sized episode. We are are joined by two special guests as well, Carl Tuttle from The Independent Characters and Reece Robbins from Frontline Gaming. We get our hands on the new Space Marine codex and hit the highlights. You don’t want to miss this.

    Yo!

The first codex for Warhammer 40k 8th edition is up for pre-order now. It is jam packed with new units, strategems, warlord traits, and psychic powers. This book gives us an idea about what to expect for future releases. Looking at the Chapter Tactics its clear to see that some Chapters made out a lot better than others but CTs are only a part of what gives the army character and depth. Once you combine the unique Strategems, Relics, and units that maximize your theme you’ll find some great possibilities in this book.

In this episode we also talk about some FTN style missions for 8th edition. You can find them here. These have been play-tested and will be used in several 3 round tournaments over the next couple of weeks. We would like to get feedback from you guys. What works, what didn’t? We’ll be publishing more very soon!

Our coverage for the ATC will be spread out over the next couple of weeks. It will be very interesting to see how the tournament scene develops after that massive event.

Finishing Moves will be back next week. If there are some topics you’d like to cover please let us know!

FTN Episode 197 – Is Going First Just a Fad? Maybe. Jul 07, 2017
    Show notes

    FTN small square

Minimizing deployment drops is something we’ve never had to worry about before. Now, it’s really fun to game the system.

    Hey All

In this show we talk about the ‘scary’ stuff you may see out there in the early phase of Warhammer 40k 8th Edition meta. We also discuss the idea that ‘gaming the system’ to go first may just be a fad that people get tired of in the future. How important is it to you?

In the middle of the show we get to speak with Sarah from BattleHaven! Please check out their website. These guys put on an awesome gaming vacation event that really is designed to kick back have fun and eat.. Pretty much like a cruise ship on land.

Registration is open for the American Team Championship. The ATC will be a full 40k 8th edition event. FTN is going to be there! This will be the first giant 8th edition tournament and we are VERY excited.

The Finishing Moves segment is sponsored by Frontline Gaming. Their new mats are now hot off the presses and getting ready to be shipped. Please check them out, even if you already have a game mat. Their new styles are very impressive. Frontline is hosting another destination tournament event! FTN Episode 196 – Arch Daemons – Do They Change The Game? Jun 29, 2017
    Show notes

    FTN small square

I got the Forge World 8th edition indexes in hand right before were started recording this episode. Why not talk about some of the biggest baddies in 40k? These guys do not disappoint.

    Yo!,

We were a little confused on how to get these big arch daemon guys deployed at the start of the show but we clarify the summoning/reserves possibility in the second half. You can summon these guys if you choose but you can also deploy them on the table.

Over the course of reviewing these dudes(gals) we talk a bit about ‘why’ they are good and how they match up with the emerging meta of 8th. There is a big scramble all over the world to host tournaments and play games. This is giving us some pretty good data on what people consider powerful right now.

The Finishing Moves segment is about focal points on your models. We know everyone is going to be rushing to get new figures on the able. How do you do that and still keep those painting points up? This segment is all about it. “Faces and Bases make your Models look Aces.”

FTN Bonus Episode 23 – Interview With 40k Architect Robin Cruddace Jun 21, 2017
    Show notes

    FTN small square

Robin Cruddace joins us again to talk about Warhammer 40k 8th edition all how it all started to take shape for Games Workshop. This has been in the works for a LONG time.

    Hey hey,

Please forgive the little bit of audio echo in the beginning of the show. We were recording in a wide open area and after a long day of celebrating.

The enthusiasm was very high that weekend at Warhammer World. When I got there first thing in the morning people were lined up out the door to get their copy of the new game. The first two Forge World indexes were also on sale that day. Man… people were going nuts!

Robin and I talk about the origins of 8th and how he moved the idea along through the company to finally get what we have today – a totally new game that still gives us everything we’ve come to expect from 40k.

It was an amazing time. I hope you guys caught me on the live stream. It is still up for viewing on the Warhammer TV facebook page.
