4 Important Life Reminders for This Holiday Season Dec 01, 2022
    Show notes

The holiday seasons can be tough for money of us – we might feel a lot of pressure or a lot of loneliness. But isn't the holiday season to be a time where we feel full of love and joy? I believe it is and that's why in this episode of Embrace Your Real, I have a few reminders I think you need to hear. What I discussed:

    1. Don't feel pressure from social media to do things that you don't actually want to do. The holidays is about creating real memories, not just taking photos for more likes on Instagram.
    2. Don't feel the pressure from social media to spend more money than you need to. You don't need to have a pinterest-worthy holiday. You can have a super special holiday without going way over your budget.
    3. If you feel lonely, immerse yourself into a community.
    4. Reach out to those who need you. Spread the love and joy of the holiday season.

6 "Healthy" Holiday Nutrition Habits that Are Actually Obsessive + What to Do Instead Nov 28, 2022
    Show notes

The holiday season is here and I know for many of you this can cause a lot of anxiety around your relationship food, fitness, and your body. Many women want to take a healthy approach to the holiday season, which I completely support. But, for some, the health approach they think they are taking isn't actually all that healthy. The approach is more obsessive and is actually fueling their negative relationship with food, fitness, and their body. That's why I would like to explain which habits aren't healthy and how you can actually navigate the holidays in a healthy, balanced, and enjoyable way. What I discussed: The healthy habits that are actually obsessive are…

    1. Working off the "extra" cookies or pie you ate.
    2. Working out so you deserve to eat the cookies or pie.
    3. Not eating all day because you know you have a holiday party to go to.
    4. Eating less the next day because of what you ate the day before.
    5. Using all your willpower to avoid the holiday foods.
    6. Giving up and going all in until January 1st.
The 6 steps to taking an actual healthy and balanced approach are… Step 1: Get your macros counted. Step 2: Budget your macros. Step 3: Focus on protein Step 4: Keep the same workout plan. Step 5: Be consistent. Step 6: If you get off track, just get back on track. It's as simple as that. Show notes

Thanksgiving is a day to express our gratitude. Most often, the gratitude we focus on is the people around us and the people we are thankful for most. While this is an amazing to celebrate, because the people around us are so important, we forget to be thankful for a few other important things. In this episode, I'm going to reminder you of five more things you need to take the time to be thankful for, not just on thanksgiving, but every single day you are on this earth. What I discussed:

    1. Everything your body does for you.
    2. Your health.
    3. The food you eat daily.
    4. Your strengths.
    5. Everything you have.
If you loved this episode, I highly recommend tuning into Episode 192: The Science of a Gratitude Practice. I dive into WHY gratitude is so powerful and why you should stop overlooking it as a daily habit you practice. I personally think my gratitude practice is just as important as nourishing my body with what it needs and honoring my body with movement. I not only share some hacks to make honoring your body more simple, but I also share some mindset shifts you need to make that will help you keep honoring your body the way it deserves. What I discussed:

    1. A short workout is better than no workout.
    1. Moving your body will keep you more energized through the holidays.
    1. It's okay if you are just "maintaining" and not "gaining".
    1. Commit to moving your body for 30 minutes daily for the rest of the year.
    1. Make not doing it not an option, just do it
    1. Don't judge your movement.
    1. Do what you can with what you have.
    1. Just because you "ate bad" doesn't mean you might as well skip your workout, too.
    1. On the flip side, don't punish yourself with movement because of what you ate.

It is half way through November already! How did that happen already? It felt like fall just started and now it's basically winter depending on where you are living now. So wild!

The holiday season is settling in, with Halloween passed and thanksgiving around the corner, if you haven't caught the holiday spirit yet, it's about time you do!

That's why in this episode of the Embrace Your Real podcast, I just wanted to share a friendly reminder for those who have goals they are working towards.

Okay, so what is this reminder I have to share with you?

The year feels like it's almost over, right? It's basically half way through November and that's it's December and then it's 2023.

I know when the holidays hit, and we get slightly off track, it's easy to just toss in the towel and say you'll start fresh in 2023. Does this sound familiar?

You think that you're already off track and there's not that much time left in the year, so why not just get off track and worry about getting back on track January 1st?

5 Frequently Asked Workout Questions Part 1 Oct 31, 2022
    Show notes

How much should you be honoring your body with movement?! Let's chat about it in this episode of the Embrace Your Real podcast. With the growth of my Movement with Julie Tiktok and Instagram account, I have been getting a lot of questions in regards to the frequency of their workouts, so I have put together this episode to address the most frequently asked questions. What I discussed:

    • How long should you workout for? 45 minutes is ideal, but anything less is still great. I wouldn't exceed 60 minutes in fears of overtraining.
    • What's the minimum days you should workout? 2 days a week ensuring you are hitting all the major muscle groups. So ideally doing one upper body and one lower body workout a week.
    • What's the max days you should workout? Ideally 5, but 6 is okay if you aren't overtraining your muscles. You could workout 5 days a week and do 2 days a week of active recovery.
    • What should your rest days look like? Whatever feels best for your body. For me, I like active recovery.
    • What happens if you skip a week of workouts? IF you have been super consistent with your workouts, then nothing will happen. Most likely you will benefit from the rest. Just ensure you are focusing on your nutrition that week.
If you want to get upper body and lower body workouts you can do weekly, or 30 minute variations of workouts if you're short on time, or you have the time and you want 5 days a week of 45 minute workouts, check out my Movement with Julie app. It makes it super easy for you to train hard without over training as a carefully program each week of workouts to ensure you hitting every single muscle group the perfect amount so you see optimal results.
