Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

Some perfect acting distraction for you this week as Pip is joined by the fantastic SACHA DHAWAN!

A lovely meeting between Pip and Sacha, and with the two not having crossed paths previously this is a really nice chat which branches out into a fully fledged tree of chat. As I carry on, I’m all too aware that I did just type “tree of chat” but I’m committing to it. Beginning with the big topics and meandering gracefully through the labyrinth of emotions and feels, they cover a ton and not exclusive to acting either - from pandemic action to acting through such a time, taking breaks for mental health, anxiety and predicting it, lessons from lockdown, pressure from heritage and coming to terms with one’s own story, confidence, art and cautiousness growing up, playing the truth, his previous roles and those forthcoming, being a role model and all together so much more. A brilliant one for you this week. EAT HOW YOU WANNA EAT*!

*This will make sense, you have to trust me.

TV Shows Of The Year: 2020 (bonus ep!) • Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip #361 Jan 08, 2021

Show notes

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

BONUS! Pip’s media cup was overflowing with 2020 goodness, so he went ahead and made a bonus episode to catch all the gems that 2020’s television had to offer and HERE IT IS!

As with the films of the year episode, this is all Pip’s opinion and you may indeed share differing ones, but this might alert you to some good times that you might not have been aware of before. You’ll enjoy this for sure!

QUICK NOTE! This is producer Buddy Peace here typing this, and just to let you know I do drop by super quick by invitation from Pip, to make a quick announcement and wish y’all the best for 2021. I don’t take liberties with installing myself on the podcast so I thought I’d just gently warn you of the alternate voice you will hear chiming in.

Films Of The Year: 2020 • Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip #360 Jan 06, 2021

Show notes

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

The very happiest new year to you, dear Distraction Pieces listener! We are now in 2021 World, with a whole new 12 months ahead of us until we do the merry go round all over again, but when you think about for even a split second, isn’t it insane how much can happen in those twelve months? Even in a day?! Well, while none of us can slow the hands of time, we can most certainly take a minute to just sit right there, and listen to Pip tell us about his favourite films of the year!

By the way, about that last sentence - yes it was a vague Fresh Prince reference and yes it was meant to rhyme. Anyway - have a lovely podcast listen, and see if Pip’s thoughts resonate with your views on these films if you’ve seen them, or maybe arm the cannon with some films to line up for your forthcoming viewing time. Some true gems on there. So enjoy, argue with yourself if you need to, but remember this is a personal opinion list - Pip is not taking your own favourites from you and erasing them. Obvious to say but easy to forget. Okay, boom - enjoy!

Show notes

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

Dearest Distraction Pieces crew (or Team 3W as we used to call each other!), you are in for a solid gold treat this week. And next week. Yes, it’s that time of year when Pip casts his eye over the year’s events, while trying to make sense of the wreckage… And this year, good lawd was there a lot of it. So he has enlisted the help of a good friend of his - that’s right - you’ve seen the episode description already so you KNOW who it is - it’s Limerick’s finest, Blindboy!

Hopefully you’ll be familiar with Blindboy from his own podcast (if not, you must make a point of incorporating that into your life), or maybe you heard a distant episode of Distraction Pieces with him, or maybe you’re already down with the Rubberbandits. Whatever the case - you’re in very good hands here as the two get down to the year’s business over two episodes. There are too many nuggets to even hint at here so just dive in, enjoy and know that you’ve made the right listening choice. Congratulations. And all the utmost season’s bests to you and your nears and dears! Have a lovely end of 2020. A year for the books right there.

Xmas Drinks w/ Kae Tempest & Polarbear (pt. 2 of 2) • Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip #358 Dec 18, 2020

Show notes

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

As tradition would usually dictate, Pip would meet up with Kae and Polar for some form of Xmas drinks in whatever formation was available, but WHAT WITH THINGS AS THEY ARE, zoom provided the medium for it all to happen which now means that we get to hear what happens behind the curtain!

A great chance to listen to what’s been happening in this year of years with Pip’s old time pals (and surely favourites of yourselves) Kae Tempest and Polarbear, completing the pyramid of incredible spoken word / writing / acting / music talent that continue to smash it at every angle… It’s a lovely two parter, which digs in it all - lockdown and pandemic and how that’s taken a toll on everyone’s individual lives and performance routines, mental health, locations and moving, bubbles, family, porridge game, being tuned in and collaboration, mental beatdowns in acting classes, cooking and SO much more. Stop by for both parts and have a wonderful listening session. Please enjoy!

Aunty Donna • Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip #357 Dec 09, 2020

Show notes

Welcome, welcome, welcome to the Distraction Pieces Podcast with Scroobius Pip!

Pure comedy fun times which we most certainly all need right about now, as Pip is joined by Mark, Broden and Zachary of Australian comedy crew AUNTY DONNA!

Have you heard of Aunty Donna yet? Chances are you are a diehard dyed in the wool Auntyhead, but perhaps you may have only just seen that Netflix square scrolling sideways in your field of vision as recent as today - or maybe this is the first time you’ve heard the word Aunty and the name Donna together full stop. Well prepare to either get to know the gang much better, or make some new best friends, as Pip catches up with three of the crew! You’ll hear a ton from their early days right up to now, and this will ensure that you are well versed in all things Donna - covering Run The Jewels with times tables, going from podcast to stage to screen, Dominos Pizza (and a gang of fast food snack trivia), tall poppy syndrome, fanbases, physical humour, finding the truth, being present, “whatever’s funniest” and the relentless search for perfection in TV production, as well as a bunch of behind the scenes bits and pieces besides. Gems from every angle. ENJOY!
