What We Learned About Success & Slowing Down in 2021 - EP179 Jan 11, 2022
    Show notes

2021 was a transformative year for us. Jeremiah's spiritual awakening in June had a ripple effect, shifting the way we think about think success and forcing us to prioritize what matters most.

We had the most rewarding year of our lives financially and deepened our relationship as a couple. And yes, we did fun things like buy Jeremiah's dream car and install a pool in our backyard.

But we also realized that having things doesn't matter much if you're carrying trauma in your body, trying to outrun your pain. If you're measuring yourself against an ideal and never taking the time to BE.

On this episode of Destined to Be, we reflect on what we've accomplished in the last 12 months, personally and professionally, explaining why we focused on energy, alignment and slowing down in 2021.

We share what we learned about not taking things personally, making decisions from a place of faith and holding space for ourselves, each other and our children.

Listen in to understand why we're focused on 'living in the game' in 2022 and learn how to be happier NOW by measuring your success through the gain, not the gap!

To Drink, Or Not to Drink - EP177 Oct 07, 2021
    Show notes

We're on vacation at an all-inclusive resort right now, surrounded by overindulgence. And when other people find out that we don't drink, they often justify the fact that they're making a different choice.

But here's the thing: You're an adult, and you don't need our permission. If you're happy with your decision to have an adult beverage or two, more power to you.

If, on the other hand, you're unhappy with the way you feel when you drink or you're curious what life would be like without alcohol, you can change the story you're telling yourself and replace drinking with a healthier habit.

On this episode of Destined to Be, we explore what it looks like to temporarily push down the feelings you don't want to deal with by drinking, overeating, scrolling the internet—or any other unhealthy habit.

We describe how the people you surround yourself with influence your behavior and explain how to eliminate the scarcity mindset that leads to overindulgence.

Listen in for insight on deciding whether your current habits support the person you want to become and learn how to get clear on what you want out of life and replace the habits that are holding you back!

    Key Takeaways

Why you don't have to justify your decision to drink (provided you're happy with that choice)

Why we bring our healthy habits with us on vacation

How to eliminate the scarcity mindset that leads to overindulgence

How the people you surround yourself with influence your behavior

What it looks like to push down the feelings you don't want to deal with via alcohol, overeating, etc.

How the 12-Step Program served as Jeremiah's introduction to personal development

What to do if you're struggling with alcohol or curious what life would be like without it

How to decide if your current habits support the person you want to become and replace the habits that are holding you back

Why it's challenging to get clear on what you want when your mind is fuzzy

    Show notes

My powerhouse wife, Mallory, just keeps achieving higher levels of success. And before my awakening this past summer, that success scared me.

I saw her growing independence as a threat. If I wasn't the provider in our marriage, where did my worth come from?

On this episode of Destined to Be, Pat, Johnny and Mark join me to discuss the difference between being a provider and being of service to your significant other, describing how a true king provides his partner with a sense of safety—regardless of who brings in more money.

We explain what differentiates codependency from an interdependent relationship, sharing what it looks like to hold space for your partner and how to respond when she puts her work first.

Listen in for insight on navigating the masculine energy of a powerful woman and learn how to do the inner work it takes to stay connected with your partner and grow together.

Exploring the Way Trauma Shapes Us—with Kyle Depiesse - EP175 Sep 23, 2021
    Show notes

More people struggle with trauma than we realize. And we all cope with it in different ways.

For me, the pain of feeling like I wasn't enough made me a troublemaker in school. Later, I turned to drugs and alcohol to fill the void. And most recently, I used achievement and expensive toys to prove myself to the world.

So, what does it look like to explore the way trauma has shaped you? And what can you do to stop hiding from the pain and start working through it?

Kyle Depiesse is the Adventure & Fulfillment Coach behind The Reaching Beyond Experience. He creates one-of-a-kind men's experiences for high-level entrepreneurs.

On this episode of Destined to Be, I'm sharing my conversation with Kyle on the Reaching Beyond podcast, where we discuss my journey through addiction and why I used drugs so people wouldn't find out who I really was.

I get honest about the irrational way of coping with emotions I developed in childhood and the trauma that brought on my recent nervous breakdown, challenging you to consider that building a relationship with your Creator is our true purpose on this earth.

Listen in for insight on making play an important part of your life and find out why you can't afford NOT to invest in yourself!

    Transitioning Into a New Season, Part 2 - EP173 Sep 09, 2021
    Show notes

There are two different kinds of seasons. There are the actual seasons of the year—spring, summer, fall and winter.

And then there are the seasons where we move into the next phase of our lives, like when our kids start school or we shift from one career to another.

Either way, moving into a new season is emotional and can pull us off track if we're not careful. So, what steps can we take to create a smooth transition from one season to the next?

On this episode of Destined to Be, I explain why it's important to honor the last season as you move into the next and challenge you to set the intention for what you want your days, weeks and months to look like now.

I discuss how to embrace a new season, describing how to focus on the possibilities of what you could accomplish and set yourself up for success.

Listen in for insight on adopting the tendencies of a person in the role you're working toward and learn how to build the habits you need to support you in this new season of life!

    Show notes

If you're transitioning into a new season of life, it's normal to feel some stress, fear and overwhelm.

On this episode of Destined to Be, I discuss the support you need to transition into a new season of life, describing the emotional week I am having and the healthy habits that are keeping me on track.

    Unlearning the Behaviors That Don't Serve You - EP171 Aug 24, 2021
    Show notes

"Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything.

Maybe it's about un-becoming everything that isn't really you,

so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place."

    --Paulo Coelho

Personal development is often about adding things to your life. Another program. A new routine. A next-level experience.

But the most impactful work we've done so far has been about taking things away. Exploring why we react the way we do and un-learning the behaviors that don't serve us.

On this episode of Destined to Be, we share the work we're doing to uncover childhood traumas and reshape our belief systems, describing how the coping mechanisms we use as kids turn into character defects later on.

We explain how behaviors that were 'normal' to us growing up are not serving us now and get vulnerable about the challenge of replacing our automatic, unhealthy responses with new ones.

Listen in to understand how your thought patterns program your body to react and learn how un-becoming what isn't really you makes space for who you were always meant to be.

    Key Takeaways

The work we're doing now to work through deep childhood traumas

What it looks like to reshape your belief systems

How childhood coping mechanisms turn into character defects

What it means to reach the next level emotionally and intellectually

The challenge of replacing automatic responses with new behaviors

How behaviors that were 'normal' to us growing may not be serving us now

Why sitting in your feelings is the hardest part of unlearning

How inner dis-ease creates external problems

The danger in suppressing emotion vs. getting it out of your body

What it means to be codependent in a relationship

Why cultivating more love is our true purpose in life

How our bodies are programmed to react by our thought patterns
