How Your Worst-Case Scenario Thoughts are Stunting Your Growth - EP199 May 31, 2022
    Show notes

Have you ever read a text from somebody that said, "we need to talk," and automatically, your mind started spinning?

Your body reacts, and BOOM, it's off to the races. You begin spiraling out. Envisioning scenarios of losing everything, being homeless, your life as you know it destroyed. All these images were conjured up from just a few words on a screen and now, in your mind, you're living out your worst-case scenario.

    You've been triggered!

Your body may react with adrenaline spikes and be ready to pounce, or maybe you go down the anxiety trail and panic or shut down.

Either way, you're caught in a spiral cycle, with your body reacting in a way that's meant to keep you safe. But it's just keeping you stuck.

    So, what can you do?

On this episode of Destined to Be, we walk you through where these reactions originate from and how they can cause energy blocks that can keep you from growth.

We'll discuss how you might unintentionally be reinforcing the story that you're stuck. And we'll talk about how you might be projecting your triggered thoughts onto your partner.

Listen in for insight on how you can bring awareness into the moment instead of falling into your old patterns of numbing out. Plus, we'll look at how you can gain the tools and resources you need to stop spiraling.

    Key Takeaways

What is contempt prior to investigation, and why do we manufacture it when we're triggered

What are you signaling to your inner self when you say, "that's just the way I am"

How your most significant challenges can also be the biggest support for your inner work

How we use justifiable dopamine behaviors to avoid dealing with our triggering feelings

Why deep breathing doesn't always work to move you from your triggers

Why how we expect our partner to react and the stories we tell each other may be keeping us stuck

How a support team can help you formulate the tools to step out of the victim mentality

How Energy Enters Our Body to Trigger Us - EP198 May 24, 2022
    Show notes

Did you know that 95% of how you show up, your attitudes, actions, beliefs, essence, and the beauty of the person you are is ingrained by the time you're 35 years old? The question then becomes, who created the person I am today?

The way you evolve and grow in the future will be determined by how you answer that question.

On this episode of Destined to Be, I'm sharing the paradigm shift that happens when we open ourselves up to expanding our consciousness and commit to doing the inner work around the emotions and behaviors that keep us stuck in our stories and maintaining the status quo.

I'll explain why you get that gut-wrenching feeling when you're out and about and something triggers you. And why, even though you are sure you are long over what happened your body still reacts.

Listen in for insight into your ego and how it and your brain function in your life to keep you safe. I'll walk you through how you can connect to what is causing your personal triggers, and I'll share some techniques for working through those emotions to get back to center.

    Key Takeaways

The AHA moment I had at the gym with a listener

Why what your mind forgets, your body will always remember

How our brain sorts through our everyday experiences

What is the ego responsible for

The difference between your mind and your ego

    Going Deeper than Mindset - EP197 May 17, 2022
    Show notes

I love affirmations. But if you haven't done the necessary internal work, it can be like slapping a band aid on an injury you need to go to the doctor's office for. It's just covering up the wound instead of healing it from the inside out.

I started my coaching journey as a mindset coach. That's what I knew. But it only took me so far. You may find the same thing on your growth journey. Mindset tools will get you to a new place, but you might stall or find that old blocks begin to reappear. You might even return to your old coping behaviors like social media, shopping, sex, food, etc.

So, what can you do to finally break away from those old patterns to fully embody your new outlook and move into a new season?

On this episode of Destined to Be, I discuss why when we stop looking at things on the external level and begin looking at the internal, we often unearth old turmoil that may come out as anxiety.

I explain why the more inner work you do the more you will need new tools to help you take the steps to make BIG internal shifts.

I discuss what to do when your affirmations don't align with the stories that are true for you.

Listen in to understand how to use movement, music, and breathing to move past the response patterns that are no longer serving you.

Jeremiah and I would love to walk along with you on your growth journey. If you're ready to join my VIP women's program that starts in mid-June, or you are interested in our couple's mastermind coming this fall, please drop into my DMs so I can send you more information.

    Key Takeaways

Why mindset will only take you so far

How your body reacts when your affirmations don't align with the stories that are true for you

How acknowledging your true stories can help you change your negative response patterns Why are brain makes us forget trauma

What it means to get out of your head and into your body

How to use movement, music, and breathing to out of your head

Why having both the tools and a support team is vital as past experiences show themselves in the body

When to Push Yourself and When to Just Be Present - EP196 May 10, 2022
    Show notes

There's a time to push yourself in life, and there's a time to let yourself off the hook and just be.

The challenge comes in determining when to do each. It can be difficult to step back and allow things to proceed as they are meant to. So often we get stuck in a pattern of charging ahead, injecting ourselves into whatever situation we are facing instead of receiving what the universe is creating.

On this episode of Destined to Be, we share our personal stories of situations where each of us was faced with the challenge of deciding whether the occasion called for us to "gut it out" or to step back and give ourselves grace based on the energy we had for that moment in our lives.

We'll take a look at the fine line between pushing yourself too hard and when you might be giving up because you're getting lazy.

Listen in for insight into how you can lean into more awareness around what you are trying to accomplish in your life and what each moment is calling for you to do—push forward, or just be. Plus, we'll go deeper into ways to avoid creating an all-or-nothing mindset so you can gain clarity around when to push yourself and when to let things go based on your energy or evolve as they are meant to.

    Key Takeaways

What does it really take to build a new habit

How to avoid creating an all-or-nothing mindset

How to operate within your energy instead of doing things "just because"

What to do when the inner work becomes uncomfortable

How to channel your inner "zen" while still pushing yourself to reach your next level

When to call yourself out on your BS and when to give yourself grace

How to live true to the energy you have for what you are trying to accomplish for the day

How to Live in the Power of the Present - EP195 May 03, 2022
    Show notes

The thoughts are the language of the mind. Feelings are the emotions and expressions of the body.

With our schedules and never-ending to-do lists, many of us find ourselves living in the past, contemplating decisions we made or things we said while forgoing what's happening today to look toward the future.

Living this way can leave us feeling worn out, out of touch with ourselves, and even out of control in our lives. Recently, I've instituted a few practices designed to help me let go of my past and future living so I can live in the power of the present moment.

Today, I am sharing how those practices have been pivotal in helping me show up better, even through some insane changes that have happened in my life recently.

On this episode of Destined to Be, I share a personal story of something that happened at work that I didn't expect, and how I handled it by expressing my feelings without trying to fix them as I would have done in the past all by living in the power of the present.

Listen in for insight on how I was able get out of my own way by stepping out of the fear of living in the moment. I'll share some practices I used to finally get free of the things that were blocking me so I could move to the next level where my true self and the universe were waiting to help me move forward.

    Key Takeaways

What happens inside when you reframe your feelings instead of actually feeling them

How to express your feelings without fixing how you feel

Why you can't solve a problem from the same level of thinking that created it

How to use the personal strengths you've learned to benefit your business

The 1 habit that helped me get inside my body and be in the present moment

How the universe participates in true transformation

How being present helps you live like a person with a purpose and on a mission

How to Communicate Healthy Expectations in Your Relationship - EP193 Apr 19, 2022
    Show notes

It's important to have healthy expectations in a relationship. In a healthy relationship, you are each getting your needs met and meeting the needs of the person you love and trust the most. But it can be challenging to express your needs effectively. Especially in that initial conversation with your partner. Sometimes the verbiage we use can trigger the other person leaving them feeling attacked instead of inspired. And things can get even more muddled if you don't know what your expectations for your life or your life together even look like.

So, how can you effectively communicate your wants and needs to your partner in a healthy way? And what can you do when expectations are not being met or are no longer realistic for you as a person or a couple?

On this episode of Destined to Be, we walk you through some different options for determining your needs in life, and your relationship. Then we offer some guidance on how to communicate those needs effectively, so you can alleviate triggers and inspire growth and trust on both sides of your relationship.

We describe ways you can build your self-esteem so you can communicate your needs from a place of value. We'll also discuss how working with a professional through these conversations can be both eye-opening and life-changing for both you and your partner.

Listen in for insight on how to communicate so you can create the safety you need in your life to grow and allow for the growth of your partner and your relationship, too.

How moving through shame and unworthiness will help you discover your value in the relationship

The difference between a coach, counselor, and therapist and what a coach does ‌the others do not

Episode 191: How to Ditch Toxic Positivity to Live a More Present Life

How to Ditch Toxic Positivity to Live a More Present Life - EP191 Apr 05, 2022
    Show notes

Just because we have grown in certain areas of our lives, doesn't mean we will always react perfectly to things happening around us.

We must practice holding space. This is where we are able to be present and aware of how we are allowing our emotions to show up in conflict.

On this episode of Destined To Be, I'm here for another solo episode where I share my strategies for acting, thinking, and feeling in congruence, and how that allows me to understand the true motives behind my emotions.

I share the neurological responses of fight, flight, freeze, and the one that is typically unknown, fawn.

Listen in to hear more about how I prioritize being present enough to reflect on my past, which allows me to live a better life in the future.

    Key Takeaways

Why I constantly believe that the universe is transpiring in my favor

How I have suffered from using "toxic positivity" as a coping mechanism

What I refer to as "holding space" and why I want to spend my life being present and aware of my emotions

Why I encourage others to constantly self-audit and check in with their own emotions

Why the real abundance of self-growth will only happen once we're in a present position of calmness and awareness

Why you need to continually ask yourself deeper questions in order to unlock your true self

The differences between fight, flight, freeze, and fawn responses to conflict or unwanted situations

The nuances of the fawn response and why it forces people to internalize their issues and convinces them that they are wrong

Why acting, thinking, and feeling in congruence allow me to be the person I am destined to be

The Backwards Brain Bicycle - Smarter Every Day

Episode 190: Understanding Your Unwanted Actions To Change Your Life

Understanding Your Unwanted Actions to Change Your Life - EP190 Mar 29, 2022
    Show notes

"As easy as riding a bike." That's the saying. But what if the way you rode the bike changed? Would you be able to unlearn the thing you've known since you were a kid?

In the Youtube video, The Backwards Brain Bicycle, Destin from the SmarterEveryDay channel changes the gears on his bicycle, so when he turns the handlebars one way, the bicycle goes the opposite way. It took him eight months to learn how to ride it.

On this episode of Destined To Be, I talk about this video and how it changed the way I think about my subconscious habits.

I share my thoughts on why we feel unsafe when we start experimenting with new habits or ways of doing things, as our autonomic habits subconsciously dictate our lives.

Listen in as I discuss the difference between knowledge and understanding, the importance of transitional periods in our lives, and how to shift your internal dialogue to focus on your unwanted feelings and behaviors in order to change them into the way you wish to show up in the world.

    Key Takeaways

My takeaways from the Backwards Brain Bicycle Youtube video

How your autonomic habits subconsciously dictate your life

Why knowledge is different than understanding

Why people often feel unsafe when starting new habits or doing things differently

The importance of pushing against the norm to do good things that are uncomfortable and unfamiliar

How to change the way you show up in the world by bringing your awareness to your unwanted thoughts, feelings, and behaviors

The importance of perseverance through transitional periods in your life to improve yourself and live the life you want

Why human beings would not learn how to make massive shifts and changes without suffering
