    211 Regenerative Biology | Combinatorial Biologics – Pastor Apr 12, 2018

Regenerative Biology - Cellular Combinatorial Biologics

Ira Pastor - CEO – Bioquark Inc. The biologic regulatory states of our cells, tissues, and organs represent the central control processes behind our health (as well as our unfortunate transition towards disease, degeneration, and aging). His work at Bioquark focuses on these critical biomedical issues.

Merging 21st-century knowledge of regenerative biology, evolutionary genomics, and bio-cybernetics, Bioquark’s core program focuses on developing a novel class of substances termed combinatorial biologics, which take a unique approach to reversing underlying disease, degeneration or aging processes, as opposed to only affecting the symptoms of such conditions.

    His Brief Bio:

"Over 30 years of experience across multiple sectors of the pharmaceutical industry including pharmaceutical commercialization, biotech drug development, managed care, distribution, OTC, and retail; Served as VP, Business Development for drug development company Phytomedics Inc., raising $40 million of private equity, consummating over $50 million of licensing deals, and bringing lead drug candidate from discovery stage to Phase III development; Prior to that, employed by SmithKline Beecham Pharmaceuticals working in sales, marketing, and business strategy positions."

    His Perspective & Background

"We currently live on a planet with other organisms that from a health and wellness perspective, are much further advanced than human beings.

Many lower organisms can replace lost or damaged organs and tissues that are identical in structure and function to the original, effortlessly regenerating a wide variety of living tissues, including spinal cords, limbs, hearts, eyes, and even parts of their brains.

Similarly, many of these same species possess fascinating skills for repairing and reversing the cellular and genetic damage. Cancer, as an example, is found to be extremely rare in species displaying an efficient regenerative mechanism, even under the action of potent carcinogens. In many cases, when cancer does occur, tumors have been found to remodel and integrate into their surroundings spontaneously, as healthy tissue.

Some of these organisms can age, and then return to a youthful state later on in life. Some can even die and be reborn."

Join us the hear about the varieties of compelling searches for new healing options.

    Our Next CoreBrain Journal Episode

212 Beth Battinelli Ph.D. reports on her exciting experiences with prison inmates who have no idea of their brain reality regarding the underlying executive function challenges that led them to poor judgment, impulsivity and breaking the rules. In this CBJ/212 Episode, she talks about a program she is working on The ADHD Project.

Her mission for the ADHD Project is to increase ADHD awareness, understanding and recovery for inmates in corrections. It's an educational program that starts with primary brain science education for incarcerated individuals, and by using existing online resources, it is a program to continue upon the individual’s release, for example, CoreBrain Journal's Neuroscience Clubs.

She also wants also to start or join a conversation about paradoxical reactions to pharmaceuticals for those incarcerated. The current news about the opioid crisis directly connects to both of these topics. Forewarned is likely to reduce recidivism in this vulnerable, underserved population.

    210 Lectins & Plant Paradox – Foods & Health – Gundry Apr 10, 2018
    Show notes

A Heart Surgeon Heals Guts Through Lectins Science

Steven Gundry MD, discusses his new, very interesting book The Plant Paradox on the challenges with lectins and leaky gut leading to brain challenges, weight gain, and emotional unpredictability.

He has discovered unconventional truths about lectins & human nutrition. The Gundry MD philosophy is a radical departure from the traditional dietary “wisdom” which has failed so many Americans over the past few decades. His research may offer a breakthrough for those who have struggled for years with energy levels, chronic body maladies, and overall health. If you’ve tried everything and nothing has worked - Dr. Gundry would like to offer you peer-reviewed hope. He's done his homework.

Photo by Monkgogi Samson on Unsplash

    Lectins: The Gundry Perspective Evolves

For over thirty years, he practiced as one of the world’s pre-eminent experts in heart surgery. My experiences took me to new frontiers of medical science. He was a driving force behind major breakthroughs in medical technology and surgical procedures – breakthroughs that revolutionized the way doctors save lives.

But back in 2001, while he was Head of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Loma Linda University, he was asked to treat a chronically ill, overweight patient. This man was considered a hopeless case, someone who couldn’t be helped even by surgery. But “hopeless cases” have been a specialty of mine over the years, and he was willing to take on this man’s challenge when no one else would.

Dr. Gundry discovered that the patient had actually reversed his heart-threatening symptoms – symptoms he was told were inoperable – with nothing but a combination of natural, dietary nutrients. This led him to pursue further research of his own. The conclusions he made were unmistakable… and they led directly to the foundation of GundryMD.com.

    New Microbe Rules Apply

"The key to strong, sustainable health lives in all of us arrives in the form of beneficial microbes. These “good bacteria” are in danger of dying out, due to dietary and environmental issues that overload our systems with threatening “bad” microbes. Once you begin taking care of your “good” microbes – or, as I like to call them, “your gut buddies” – you can begin an incredible transformation."

    Controversy

Dr. Gundry provides exceedingly interesting detail on his views regarding lectins and other foods that may cause harm in this interview. His views may be controversial for some, and yet they appear to significantly contribute to healing or he couldn't document these observations with hard data. His explanations matter. Medical experts in the nutrition industry strongly support his work.

Skeptical? Stay tuned here at CBJ, we will address both sides of this interesting issue. His work is quite interesting, as you will appreciate during this interview, but others do disagree. [It appears that this new information could result in a Gut-Galileo Moment!]

    ---------------------

What is the study of Holobiotics?

It’s the concept that guides Dr. Gundry’s “Diet Evolution” system, and all the supplements and products he’s designed to support it. It’s based on the belief that true health only happens when you’re living in a state of cooperation with the trillions of tiny microbes that live everywhere in, on, and around your body.

Think of your body like an apartment complex. You’re the landlord, and these trillions of tiny bugs are your tenants. Some of those bugs are “good” tenants: managing your digestion, helping energy move throughout your body, and powering as much as 80 percent of your immune system function, to keep you from getting sick or infected. But your body is also home to “bad” tenants: lectins (plant-based proteins that harm proper cell function); pathogens (bugs that cause illness and infection); and gut yeasts (which harm healthy digestion and help make you overweight).

    Holobiotics:

Your body and its “bugs” working together to give you optimum health. Sugar and other sweeteners endanger your “good” bugs and keep you from feeling your best.

Naturally, you don’t want these “bad” bugs running the show. But when you feed them unhealthy foods like sugars, artificial sweeteners, and preservatives, this makes them stronger. These foods help them kill off the “good” bugs…and turns your body into the kind of “building” where only bad bugs would want to live.

To restore your body to optimum health and wellness, you need to be sure you’re taking care of your “good” bugs. Every product from Gundry MD is designed with this purpose in mind…whether it’s a nutritional supplement for keeping the bugs in your gut powerfully effective…a skin treatment to nourish the healthy bacteria that live on the outside of your body…or any of the exciting new products currently in the works in the Gundry MD labs.

That’s holobiotics. It’s all about taking care of your good bacteria. Because if you take care of them… they’ll take care of you.

209 Evolution Of Biomedical Psychiatry Diagnosis & Treatment – Tsafrir Apr 05, 2018
    Show notes

Biomedical Psychiatry Evolves To Include Current & Ancient Wisdom

Judy Susanne Reis Tsafrir MD is a board certified, conventionally trained adult and child psychiatrist and psychoanalyst, a Harvard Medical School faculty member, with a private practice of holistic adult and child psychiatry located in Newton, Massachusetts. She maintains a deep curiosity about development and healing, and with an open mind uses diverse approaches based upon biomedical psychiatry for evolved treatment strategies.

She is familiar with a traditional medical/psychiatric diagnostic and treatment paradigm and is now much more drawn to the functional medicine, biomedical psychiatry model. She addresses the root causes of illness, rather than simply suppressing symptoms with pharmaceuticals.

She is also skilled in the use of energetic/spiritual methodologies, and is trained in a variety of energetic approaches including Kundalini Yoga, Reiki, Astrology, the Tarot, and Shamanism, and includes these modalities when there is interest.

As they say in thousands of meeting rooms, "It works if you work it."

You will much enjoy her spirited and straightforward assessment and fresh maps for next steps in the evolution of biomedical psychiatry.

    Consider: No Boundaries

I chose a bridge as the symbol for my practice. I am drawn to consideration and inclusion of disparate contrasting elements in my understanding of people and situations. I like to keep the past and the present, the traditional and innovative, the ordinary and the sacred, the heart, mind, body and soul. It is only through healing ourselves, can we most effectively contribute to healing the planet.

208 Tools For Transitions Beyond Narcissism – Mitchem Apr 03, 2018

Tools For Transitions Beyond Narcissism - Yes, Reality Changes

Kathryn Mitchem is a Mind-Body Transition Expert and Coach. She works one on one, in groups, and through a variety of online programs such as Divorce 9-1-1 and The Worry Detox with people facing harsh transitions such as divorce, career change, health challenges and other midlife messes. She supports her clients as they learn to navigate through the complicated emotions and ongoing worry that arises with unexpected change and crisis.

Kathryn teaches lifestyle tools including Yoga and Meditation for immediate use in ten minutes or less to help to cope with the extreme stress and uncertainty that these changes bring.

Her tools provide a renewed ability to see more clearly what the next step is in each process and to move forward with a sense of improved internal trust and self-reliance. We invited her for this interview to share her easily available street options for improved next steps.

Her Specialty: Recovery From Life Downstream From A Terminal Narcissist

She coaches women on successfully breaking ties with a Narcissist. The most deceptive challenge with narcissistic entitlement is their passivity, their nuance of seductive vulnerability whilst planning to use your good will to advance their own interests. Another point often overlooked, is their fascination with scalability, big numbers. They chase their scalable dragons and eat you for dinner while they smile over your eviscerated heart. Big numbers are their real partner, not you. Success is the identity they chase, and they always forget who helped them when they arrive.

They hint that they will take you with them, but all the apparent signs of thoughtful connectedness only become part of their self-serving game.

*Photo by Ian Froome on Unsplash

    Ed. Note: Own Yourself

Remember that your pain, your unhappiness, is a gratification to their reductionistic, self-serving and internally starving brain. Your obvious vulnerability makes them more secure. They make it look like nothing is happening as their next work is to take your entire identity and refocus your goals on their own comfort, money, success, public image.

Also, remember that the reason you stay is quite simple: you think you can help them. Up close their vulnerability is palpable to you, and your fix-it drive strives to save the day - until you look up because your head was severed off and is rolling down the road. Then you wake up.

Pain becomes your most effective teacher.

When the student is ready the lesson appears.
~ Charles Parker - Deep Recovery

Further, remember that narcissism is not gender-specific. It doesn't just live in the minds of men and husbands, it can also arise downstream from women friends - and a wife.

    Kathryn Breaks It Down

Mitchem just made an appearance on Fox News San Antonio’s Daytime at Nine program, where she outlined the 5 crucial steps to moving on from a narcissistic ex - http://foxsanantonio.com/daytime-at-9/divorcing-a-narcissist

Step 1 Learn the Characteristics of a Narcissistic – The Demystification Process.

Classic narcissists lack empathy. They are unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others. They do not consider or care about, the pain they inflict on others.

They have a grandiose sense of self and believe they can choose to act outside of legal boundaries and/or commitments.

They are also masters of projection and dishonesty. They project their own subconscious negative self-judgments onto their targets.

Read and become familiar with more characteristics of narcissistic behavior so that you'll be prepared for other challenges that may come your way.

Step 2 Never Believe Their Criticism of You, and Most Importantly, Take Time to Heal.

While you are in the healing process, create a pocket of space in the world that the narcissist in your life cannot access or touch, so that you can get stronger. Whether it includes working with a therapist, life coach, support group, yoga or self-improvement course; sequester the people, place, and atmosphere where you are working on your healing, away from the narcissist.

Step 3 Accept That You Will Never Change His View of You or Gain His Approval. Once you are out of his life you have no value in his eyes; you become the enemy because you have threatened his fragile sense of self. This means he will lash out, belittle you and react with rage. Be prepared. Continue to work on loving yourself again, or maybe for the first time in your life. Act to affirm your new beliefs about yourself to reinforce these new positive beliefs. For example, if through your healing process you discover a hidden talent or interest, begin pursuing it; don’t wait.

Step 4 In Co-Parenting, Work on Strengthening YOUR Relationship with Your Children. Don’t Worry About His. Children are smart and often know the difference between authentic connection and love, and manipulation. Work on creating safe and trusting bonds with your children so they have at least one reliable parent who is putting their needs first. Lead by example in modeling positive, constructive expressions of love.

Step 5 Set Firm Boundaries (Including Legal Boundaries) and Limit Engagement. A narcissistic ex may threaten to “destroy” you when you start to stand up for what you and your children need to move forward. They may threaten to take your kids away, or never give you a penny in child support or alimony. Unfortunately, this extreme rhetoric is textbook for the narcissist.

    • Don’t be afraid to utilize the law to enforce what has been agreed upon or for your personal safety. It is made to protect you and your children so that you can successfully move on with your life.
    • Do NOT reply to or engage with threatening emails or phone calls. Remain informed about your legal rights and lean on your support system.
    • If panic begins to take hold, work with a professional counselor, life coach or therapist to practice breathing, meditation, talk therapy and other mindfulness techniques.
    • These practices will pull you out of “panic mode” and help you disengage from your ex’s distorted belief system so you do not adopt it as your own.

Listen To Bill Explain How Each Brain Works

mBIT, Mulitple Brain Integration Technique, offers unique insights and highly efficient processes you can easily train to use to overcome these kinds of challenges in your life.

Through a series of relatively simple yet powerful techniques, you can balance your autonomic nervous system, allowing you easier access to communicate with your three brains.

Once you are connected and communicating with your three brains, you now have the opportunity to align them, i.e., get them in agreement with each other. No more running in different directions. And here’s where things start to become fascinating.

    Congruency Matters

Communication and alignment of your brains are vital for congruence, success, and happiness in life. Imagine how incredibly life-enhancing it is when your many minds are working harmoniously together to produce generative wisdom in your life!

Having your brains aligned allows you to quickly and effortlessly tap into the innate wisdom that resides inside you. You will be able to resolve internal conflicts so that you feel more congruent in your life, bring deep intuitive sense into your decision making and action taking, connect to yourself and others in ways you may not have experienced before and create wise and compelling goals, dreams and outcomes.

A Brief Multiple Brain Integration Technique Overview - The importance of each brain’s Prime Function

Each mind has a defined, distinct job to do. Just like in a company or organization where different people have different roles to perform, each brain has its specialized tasks.

And yet, if we don’t know what these prime functions are or how to access them efficiently and optimally, it’s highly likely that we could find ourselves experiencing all kinds of internal conflicts and struggles in life.

Perhaps you can relate to situations like these:

    • You’re not even hungry, and you’re eating anyway. Your head knows it’s a futile attempt to fill the emptiness inside and yet you can’t stop yourself from devouring the last of the chocolate cake!
    • You’re making goals and plans for your life that feel exciting. And then, you sabotage your dreams. Fear blocks you from moving forward, or procrastination holds your intentions at bay. It’s frustrating, and you just don’t understand why you can’t move forward consistently.
    • You feel confused about an important issue in your life because your head says one thing, your heart says another and your gut is merely churning over it all and making you feel sick. There’s internal conflict between your thoughts, feelings, and action.

These kinds of situations are common when the three brains are not aligned and not working well together, or where one brain might be trying to fulfill the role of another. It’s also possible for one or more of your three brains to be in conflict or antagonism with another. And it’s times like this when we find people experiencing struggle in their life because their brains are fighting each other or merely ignoring each other.

    Each Brain's Prime Functions:

    • Head Brain
    • Cognitive Perception
    • Thinking
    • Making Meaning
    • Heart Brain
    • Emoting/Deep Feelings
    • How we connect with people
    • Values
    • Gut Brain
    • Identity
    • Self-preservation/safety
    • Mobilization/capacity to act

The Importance of Each Brain’s Prime Function

Each brain has a clear, distinct job to do. Just as in a company or organization where different people have different roles to perform, each brain has its specialized tasks.

And yet, if we don’t know what these prime functions are or how to access them efficiently and optimally, it’s highly likely that we could find ourselves experiencing all kinds of internal conflicts and struggles in life.

Once you understand and can assess/recognize the patterns, then Multiple Brain Integration Technique can create more efficient, actionable, balanced outcomes.

Electromagnetic Field Radiation Creates Mind/Body Consequences

There's no safe radiation. Even small amounts do harm.
    - Linus Pauling

EMF -Electromagnetic Field Radiation Creates Unseen Challenges

Daniel DeBaun is an internationally recognized, influential expert in Electromagnetic Field Radiation, related health issues, and shielding to prevent injury, - with a particular focus on the effect of exposure from personal mobile devices - cell phones. Daniel’s concern regarding the health impact of Electromagnetic Field Radiation emissions grew from over thirty years of engineering experience in the telecommunication industry, where he held a variety of leadership and executive positions at SAIC, Telcordia, AT&T, and Bell Labs - impeccable credentials.

Ed Note: Daniel is here for the second time, as the first time, CBJ/161, we covered the basics. Today we dive deeper to explore chronic mind and body issues with EMF.

    Listen Up To Become Antifragile

Antifragility is beyond resilience or robustness. The resilient resists shocks and stays the same; the anti-fragile gets better.
    ~ Nassim Nicholas Taleb

Through the course of his career, Daniel created requirements for large telecommunication systems, led technical divisions responsible for establishing industry standards, and formed analysis adherence testing for next-generation digital transmission systems. Daniel also consulted for laboratories that analyzed electromagnetic radiation interference, electrical signals, and digital formats. He's an engineer on a mission with both mind and body implications for all of us. Listen up - your cell phone is serious business.

    Environmental Shielding

He and the teams he led set industry standards. Daniel is also the inventor of DefenderShield®, a form of protection technology for modern electronic devices. In addition to his work with DefenderShield®, Daniel is a highly regarded industry consultant, writer, and speaker, as well as a frequent guest on national radio and television programs discussing the impacts of EMF radiation and protection options.

3 Brief Tips From Daniel on Electromagnetic Field Radiation - EMF

    1. Think about the possibility of hooking your modem/wifi to a lighting timer, so it isn't radiating you 24/7. If you're sleeping you don' t need wifi.
    2. Parents need to encourage their children to listen to this one - and also keep that cell phone away from your head at night. This one is mandatory for Neuroscience Clubs.
    3. For the roadie salespeople, like pharmaceutical sales, always use your cell phone with earbuds and shielding. With all of your hours of phone work, distance & protection is apparently in order.

    204 Sexual Sovereignty & The Sensual Woman – Desilets Mar 20, 2018
    Show notes

The Sensual Woman: Women Claim Sexual Sovereignty

In a society that benefits from your self-doubt, liking yourself is a rebellious act.
    Hamash Alidina

Saida Désilets, Ph.D. A thought-leader and speaker on the growing edge of researching ways women can use their minds, bodies, and spirits to create richer lives through their sensual selves, Saida serves as a guide to women who believe in transformation as a lifelong path of learning, discovery and walk to freedom - and rediscovery of the sensual woman within.

Her narrative starts in painful circumstances. It was a violent rape that nearly cost Saida Désilets her life that put her on this path. Self-described as a “street-savvy, equipped with feisty farm-girl strength and the grace of a dancer,” she was by no means naïve. In fact, this French Canadian native was raised on a First Nation’s reservation in Manitoba where sexual abuse of children, teens, and young women was common.

    Her Unexpected Tragedy

Yet, despite seeing these open transgressions, she never expected to be so violently attacked by a man she was actually dating. The shocking violation left her in such excruciating physical and emotional pain and damage that, upon waking up after emergency surgery, she was told she had only two weeks to live.

Consider this - you don't have to experience rape, sexual trauma, or specific disrespect to learn from Dr. Désilets. This very interesting interview addresses the evolution of women thinking about their own strengths and more private issues with sexuality - their own sexual reawakening.

    Our Next CoreBrain Journal Episode

204 Saida Désilets, Ph.D. A thought-leader and speaker on the growing edge of researching ways women can use their minds, bodies, and spirits to create richer lives through their sensual selves, Saida serves as a guide to women who believe in transformation as a lifelong path of learning, discovery and walk to freedom.

Yet, despite seeing that openly, she never expected to be so violently attacked by a man she was actually dating. The shocking violation left her in such excruciating physical and emotional pain and damage that, upon waking up after emergency surgery, she was told she had only two weeks to live.

You don't have to experience rape, sexual trauma, or specific disrespect to learn from Dr. Désilets. This very interesting interview addresses the evolution of women thinking about their own strengths and more private issues with sexuality.

    202 East Asian & Functional Medicine Connections – Varga Mar 13, 2018
    Show notes

East Asian & Functional Medicine Connections

Dr. Laura D Varga, DAOM. Chapel Hill, NC. She lived on both the East and West Coasts. She worked in research at UPENN and UCSD, holds a top US degree in East Asian Medicine [EAM], DAOM [Doctorate Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine] from Oregon College of Oriental Medicine. She's worked with patients since 2010. After five years practicing on my own in East Asian and then adding functional medicine, she is best at seeing the big picture - combining the holistic view of East Asian Medicine with my research background.

"I love and am in awe of nature - hiking with my dogs, sailing, swimming in the ocean. I cannot believe it took me five years to see the big picture. I have learned a lot from your guests on CBJ and wanted to give back. In East Asian Medicine mental/emotional health is inextricably linked to physical health."

    A Personal Note From Laura

"Feeling sick and tired? I know what that is like! Throughout my life, I have had varying illnesses on the autoimmune spectrum that required me to reach beyond conventional, reductionistic medicine into the world of holistic medicine to heal.

From the age of 6 to 25, I had severe allergies and asthma with debilitating bronchitis each Fall. I used pharmaceuticals to mitigate my symptoms and despite seeing several allergists, eating well and exercising I did not heal. Fortunately, I was later able to recover with the help of an East Asian Medicine physician.

I have had other conditions caused by excess inflammation.

I know what it is like to have chronic and acute pain and wake up day after day feeling exhausted and achy - sort of like you have mild flu. Before earning my clinical doctorate at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine, I felt adrift and alone in my healthcare. My different practitioners didn't communicate with each other and some told me that the way the other practitioner was diagnosing and treating me was useless, detrimental or wrong. I was scared because I didn't know what to do. Tests would come back normal. I was lost."

The Outdated Bifurcation of Medical Practice - Operational Connections Matter

"Everything I read on supplements seemed confusing and overwhelming (this was despite graduating with honors from an Ivy League school - the University of Pennsylvania and working for years in clinical research!).

I tried several different diets, with variable, unpredictable outcomes.

Then finally, after studying East Asian Medicine and later Functional Medicine, ah-hah, now I have the combined, comprehensive tools to see how my biomedical vulnerabilities are all connected and treat them!"
