    Show notes

Episode 498 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Can we pray for repentance?

    2. I know Hebrews 6 comes up regularly on your show. I have a slightly different question, I think. I'm wondering, how can someone who isn't saved be said to "partake" of the Holy Spirit?

    3. I am a nurse in a nursing home. In every facility I've worked, it is mandatory to work every other weekend. Is it sinful to work on Sundays?

    4. Is the office of evangelist still for today? Is it included in the office of elder or is it an independent office?

I'm Finally Taking My Faith Seriously. Do I Need to Get Re-Baptized? Jul 28, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 497 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. In John 14:28 why does Jesus say, "I am going to the Father, for the Father is greater than I?" if Jesus is God, wouldn't he be the same as God the Father? Could you please explain this?

    2. I was baptized as a newborn at a Presbyterian church when I was a child. I recently came to repentant faith in Christ, and I was just wondering what your thoughts were on getting rebaptized?

    3. Being that I'm not Catholic, how necessary is it to confess our past sins to other people? I know it's not required for salvation because only Jesus forgives our sins once we repent, but is it necessary or even at all important to confess the sins of our past to a pastor, or just other believers?

    4. My arm hurts really bad, and I keep praying and fasting, but it still hurts. A lot of people are telling me I need to draw closer to God to get healed. But when I read about Job and Paul, it seems like God allows some hardships to happen so we can get closer to him without being healed. How can I know what God's will is?

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Pastor Adriel, what is your favorite book of the Bible, and why?

    2. Is there a doctrine as to what a church should do with its offerings? I just wonder if a church should be giving regularly to the community that it is in?

    3. In light of everything going on in our world today (politics, racial division), I've actually lost quite a few friends for speaking out against some of the things going on. My question is: How can you be sure that you are being a true light for Christ when speaking out against things I think are wrong?

    4. I'm reading through The Screwtape Letters by C. S. Lewis, and I can't help but inject myself into the text. I feel like the strategies outlined by the main character, the devil named Screwtape, are things that I have experienced. However, I also tend to read the Bible with myself at the center as well. How do I shift from reading and studying theology with myself at the center to reading and studying with Jesus at the center?

How Should Christians Respond to The Dark History of the Church? Jul 24, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 495 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. The COVD-19 crisis has touched every aspect of our society, including those in the church. Our church has kept its eyes on the Word and promises of God through this, but there is an attitude with some members that perplexes me. Some people have been openly ribbed for not wanting to shake hands by those who don't think the virus is very dangerous. Others seem to mock members' caution and cooperation with civil authorities by staying home and wearing masks, even though we all agree that the Lord is in control. Where is the balance of following our civil authorities' orders with faith in the Lord? It seems like some Christians think that, since we are people of faith, we should not fear the reality of the danger of the virus at all.

    2. How should modern-day Christians respond to those events in the past where people were killed in God's name, or leaders have used the Word of God to crimes or take advantage of others? Things like the slave trade, the crusades, the Spanish conquistadors in South and Central America. Is murder not the greatest sin? Is this a stain on the image of the church?

    3. Why do I find myself constantly asking for the Lord to save me? It is very important to me. I do believe. I believe I'm a sinner, and that Jesus paid for my payment on the cross, a debt I couldn't pay. I'm just wondering, why am I always looking for that assurance?

How To Have Faith and Hope In The Age of Fake News Jul 23, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 494 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. How can I grow in my desire to pray in a group? I struggle with others' approval so much that, when I get together with my brothers and sisters in Christ, my anxiety grows and I struggle to pray from my heart and my thoughts get clouded. I don't like this about myself, but desire to grow in courage and confidence. How can I grow in this as a believer?

    2. When someone profanes our Savior and takes God's name in vain, what should be our response?

    3. It's hard to be the light in a dark world with all the fear and hate being spread around. We have one side exaggerating the truth, while the other makes false accusations, pitting the people against one another. How should Christians "watch for the signs" as Jesus commanded with all the fake news out there?

    4. In Matthew 6:9, Jesus taught his disciples to pray to the Father, and for the Father's name to be glorified and sanctified. Why wouldn't he reveal his Father's name? What could be that Name?

What Must I Do To Be A True Believer? Jul 22, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 493 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. I have a question that has kept me wondering about my salvation. It is about the verses from Revelation 3:15-16. It talks about lukewarm Christians, and it states that the majority of the Christian community is not going to be saved. Could you please explain this?

    2. In Numbers 21, God sends down fiery serpents to bite the complaining Israelites. As I was reading, I thought to myself, does God get frustrated? I know that God does not sin, but how would one properly explain these passages in regard to His holiness? Is frustration not a sin? I see that Jesus uses this story in regards to looking to Him for salvation. Is this the reason this incident took place, just so Jesus would use it during His earthly ministry?

    3. Jesus taught us to love our enemies, but we're also not to cast our pearls before swine lest they trample on us. Can you shed some light on this gray area? Where do I draw the line?

    4. Is lordship salvation biblical? When I think about it I get so depressed because I don't understand. From what I read you have to do certain things to be considered a true believer, but that just makes me feel hopeless.

Who Are You to Pass Judgement on Another? Jul 21, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 492 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. What did Jesus mean in Matt 6:23 when he said, "Be sure that the light that is in you be not darkness?" How could it be both?

    2. Does Baptism confer faith or grace upon an individual? Or is Baptism a confirmation of personal faith in Christ?

    3. I've been reading and listening to the book of Romans, and in chapter 14, the heading in the ESV Bible says, "Do not pass judgment on one another." Though it is talking mainly of food, could this mean more than food? I have passed judgment on others, which is such a struggle for me, because I am reminded of what Christ did on the Cross and that there is no condemnation for those that are in Him. But yet, as I judge, am I not condemning? Could you please help me understand?

    4. My friends and I got into a debate the other day about worship. Some of them were saying we shouldn't do anything that isn't commanded in Scripture. But none of our churches sacrifice bulls and goats like they did in the Temple, and I don't see a worship service outlined anywhere in the New Testament. They attend more traditional churches that seem outdated to me. With so many people leaving the church, shouldn't we do what works best for our culture?

Has Jesus Given Every Christian Authority to Perform Miracles? Jul 20, 2020

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Why does God say that it is an abomination to eat shellfish? I saw on Facebook that God hates shellfish. The person I'm talking about is an atheist and looks for opportunities to make the Bible look ridiculous.

    2. What do we do when we find a book where the author claims to have a grasp of Christianity, but only seems to be confusing the truth? I really just want to be able to read without such an author trying to distract me. most important thing?

    3. How do you really seek God with your whole heart and how do you trust him with all your understanding?

    4. Has Jesus given each and every Christian authority in the sense of doing miracles? The context is a verse from a song my church sang this past week: "When I open up my mouth / miracles start breaking out / I have the authority / Jesus has given me."

What Are the Most Important Elements of a Godly Marriage? Jul 17, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 490 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. I'm not married yet, and sometimes I wonder if it is worth all the trouble. My parents went through a really difficult divorce, and I keep hearing similar stories from my friends. My boyfriend wants us to move in together, and sometimes it seems like the idea of marriage is just a stressful burden on our relationship, especially when we're already committed to each other. Marriage wouldn't change any of that, so why do it?

    2. I would like to get married, but I'm having an identity crisis of who I am and who I want my spouse to be. I know I should prioritize my faith and his faith, but I identify with being Ukrainian-American very much. Do you have any advice for me as to what I can do to convince myself that finding a Godly man, no matter what nationality, is the most important thing?

    3. A word from Pastor Adriel and Bill on Divorce and Remarrige.

    4. How can my fiance and I prepare ourselves for a godly marriage?

I Am Training to Be a Pastor But I Struggle With Porn Jul 16, 2020

Episode 489 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. I heard that you use the NIV Bible. Someone told me that the NIV Bible is missing verses throughout it. Is this true?

    2. In light of Matthew 4:17, I wonder if there is a need to repent every day. And sometimes I wonder about salvation and if you can lose it if you sin too many times.

    3. I've been in seminary now for 2 years, feel called to ministry, and I'm an intern at my church. However, I still struggle with lust and pornography. I delved into porn at a very young age, before I was a Christian, and I'm still working through the damage it caused to this day. I have begged God to take it away, and it has become less over time, but still, if I am called into the ministry, I'm supposed to not even have a hint of sexual immorality in my life. Do I have to have 100% total victory over my inclinations before I can be a minister of the word? Why won't God totally change my heart and take it away? I've lost count of how many times I've asked him to take it away. Any help would be appreciated!

    4. If a person did something wrong, by that I mean break the law, and then later got saved, but before they were able to be accountable to the law on a worldly level, they died. Would they still be separated from the Lord if they could not make it right according to human law?
