Where Does the Bible Teach that the Holy Spirit is God? Aug 26, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 518 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. The Bible mentions that God is our Shepherd, Refuge, Fortress, etc. In Psalm 28:1, it says, "O Lord my Rock." Why is a "rock" that significant? I don't know Palestine, but I would think that there are rocks all over the land.

    2. What was the good news of the kingdom of God being preached by John the Baptist in Luke 3:18, and by Jesus in Luke 5:43, if Jesus had not yet died? Jesus even warned his disciples not to tell anyone of his identity and impending death and resurrection in Luke 9:22. I thought that that was the heart of the gospel? Could you please clarify my understanding on this?

    3. You said the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one and should be worshipped. How do you explain John 16:12–15? Which says that the Holy Spirit will speak of me, and that he is the Spirit of truth, but I don't see anywhere that it has to be worshipped or that we have to pray to it. Could you please clarify that for me?

    4. I'm going to a ministry, and we are studying the Shema. What are your guys' take on the Shema and what does it mean to you?

If God Exists, Why Doesn't He Make Everything Right? Aug 25, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 517 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. What book I can recommend to a friend of mine who is a Christian but all over the place in their beliefs? I would like to share the gospel with her, and where she can understand the truth of God's Word and His Gospel.

    2. In a recent program, you explained why Jesus called the rulers gods. Related to the same passage, my question is, why did Jesus tell them that they would die like men because they unfairly judged the people? I assume these were just men like us, so wouldn't they have died even if they had judged fairly?

    3. I have come to the conclusion that Paul's teachings contradict those of Jesus. Paul's message has elements of truth and righteousness, but over time it seems like the message of Jesus, as it was switching hands, became something else. My question to you is, how can I reason with my sisters in Christ?

    4. My husband's uncle says that he doesn't believe in God, but he keeps asking us questions. Recently he asked why God, if he exists, doesn't just make everything right and get rid of all the suffering and sinfulness in the world? He is the one who brings these topics up, and I was wondering, how I can represent God properly?

Is Forgiveness Opposed to Justice and Accountability? Aug 24, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 516 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Is it God's will for His saints to be poor, or to live paycheck to paycheck? I felt God lead me to go back to school since I lost my job during the COVID shutdown. I don't feel that God wants me to work and go to school full-time on top of caring for my family, but my husband only makes enough money to cover our very basic needs. Should I get a job even though I don't feel like that's what God is telling me to do, or is it God's will for my husband to make more money?

    2. I have a friend who is really into the affirmation cards. It seems like a New Age belief. They are a Christian, but I'm not really sure how to talk to them about that. Do you have any Bible expertise or guidance on the topic of affirmations?

    3. I am a social worker working in child protection, and I also work in my local church as their safeguarding advisor. Sometimes we have people attend the church who have historical offenses against children or vulnerable adults. While we encourage them to be part of the church, they are not allowed to take on positions of responsibility or work in parts of the ministry where they would come in to contact with children or vulnerable groups. This often causes a lot of tension as they feel that they are a new creation and should not be judged on their past sins. Am I correct in insisting that they do not take on these roles, or am I going against God's will and what forgiveness really means?

    4. My five-year-old daughter asked me, "How was the Serpent able to enter the Garden of Eden if it was for perfect creatures like our first parents? Was the garden of Eden only for sinless creatures?" How can I help explain this to her?

What's the Relationship Between Justice, Justification, and Black Lives Matter? with Special Guest Dr. Michael Horton Aug 21, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 515 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. How is a person really saved? I hear preachers tell others to say a prayer, receive Christ into your heart, and then God will save you, and I don't find any of that in the Scriptures. Could you help me out and show me where they get that from? When God saved me I didn't do any of that. He just let me know I needed a savior and I surrendered to that tugging and pulling of the Holy Spirit on my heart. So, I don't know, help me with that so I won't lead people astray or be led astray myself.

    2. In view of Black Lives Matter, what is the Biblical relationship between justice and justification?

    3. Does how I vote matter, religiously? Does God care if I vote one way or the other? Does it matter what my reasons for voting are? Does the Bible say anything that can be applied to the topic of voting?

    4. I appreciate how you distinguish between the law and the gospel on your show. I'm wondering if there are ways that we think and speak that support law rather than gospel. I blanch at taking on the mindset that within Christendom, everywhere I look there's duties, callings, and obligations. Am I being too sensitive here?

Do My Good Works Matter If I Already Have The Righteousness Of Christ? Aug 20, 2020

Episode 514 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Should Christians practice the Passover Seder? If we do, do we go back under the law?

    2. In Bart Ehrman's recent book, Heaven and Hell: A History of the Afterlife, he claims that the Old Testament does not reference Hell at all, and in the New Testament, Jesus spoke of it only in terms of annihilation, not in the language of eternal suffering. Is this an accurate picture of the Old and New Testament teaching on Hell?

    3. Why would we be rewarded for good works if we have Christ's righteousness imputed to us?

    4. If an unexpected expense comes, and you have to reduce tithing, do you pay the expense or tithe? Is it okay to help somebody in need instead of tithing when you run across someone in need?

How Are We Disciplined By God Today? Aug 19, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 513 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Since the start of this COVID pandemic, my husband and I have not attended church. He has health issues which makes him high-risk, and I don't want to bring this disease home to him. I still support my church with my tithes and offerings, and I'm listening to services and Bible studies through Bott Radio. But I am fearful of bringing this disease home and hurting my family, and I fear my not going to church is showing a lack of faith in God. I love the Lord and am doing what I can to stay in the Word and in prayer. My heart is grieved over this. I would appreciate your insight.

    2. How did Judas Iscariot, who Jesus called a son of perdition and a devil, cast out demons if Jesus said Satan cannot cast out Satan?

    3. If you have tattoos, is that looked down on in this day and age that we live in?

    4. What does the bible mean in Hebrews 12:6 when it speaks of God disciplining those He loves? How does God discipline us today?

Will People In Hell Believe Their Punishment Was Unjust? Aug 18, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 512 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Why do Christians argue about the gift of speaking in tongues, saying that you don't have to speak in tongues to have the Spirit? Scripture clearly teaches that we cry, "Abba Father" when we have the gift of the Spirit. Can you explain that?

    2. I heard Adriel state that church pastors or ministers "must be above reproach" in reference to why pastors or ministers cannot be gay. But isn't it true that none of us are above reproach?

    3. Are there different levels of punishment in hell? Along with that, was hell created only for Satan? I know I am thinking of human fairness. If God is just, will everyone feel the judgment they receive is fair?

    4. What's the difference between the soul and the spirit? They are always talked about as being separate and different. I would like to hear a definition.

    5. What does it mean to abide in Christ? How can I tell if I am abiding in Christ? What does it look like today?

What is Christian Discipleship and How Do I Practice It? Aug 17, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 511 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Is it possible to have sins unpaid for? In other words, when Jesus said from the cross, "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do," were those people forgiven, or did Jesus die for those sins? Should we assume that all of the people in the crowd were eventually saved because Jesus forgave their sins?

    2. Between the time of Jesus' death and his resurrection, Jesus spoke with "those in prison." Who would they be, and what would have been the result of that?

    3. I'm really confused about discipleship. What is it, and what does it look like practically?

Why Is God Silent When I Cry Out for Help? Aug 14, 2020

Episode 510 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. How come God hasn't destroyed Satan already?

    2. I've been with the Lord for almost 30 years. When I was younger, I committed adultery. I did repent, but to this day I hurt so much. Yes, for the things I have done, but mostly because I was already a born again Christian. And I keep asking myself why! I had children. What happens to a person who commits adultery?

    3. In view of the truth of election and the reality that we contribute nothing to our salvation, except sin. Without clouding the gospel with human effort, what does a gospel presentation look like?

    4. I'm calling about the idea that Jesus comforts us when we are in trouble and going through spiritual difficulties. I've been a Christian for over 20 years, and I certainly believe that Christ is my only hope of being united to the Father. But one thing I have difficulty understanding and accepting is when people say, run to Jesus to give you comfort. What does that even mean, to run to Jesus? Obviously, he's not here in person, so we can't run up to him, and then sometimes when you ask for said comfort, it doesn't come. What are we supposed to do with that?

What Is the Point of the Cross if Jesus Already Had the Power to Forgive Sins? Aug 13, 2020
    Show notes

Episode 509 | Adriel Sanchez and Bill Maier answer caller questions.

    Show Notes

    CoreChristianity.com

Key questions answered in today's show:

    1. Why are the four beasts in Daniel's dream different than what is explained in Revelation?

    2. Since God is all-knowing, and since He also sent His Son for us, for whom or for what, precisely, is Jesus interceding?

    3. If I had spiritual mentors who led me the wrong way and told me to do things that were wrong, did I sin too? At the time I was very naive, and still am because I have Asperger Syndrome. But now I know it was wrong, and I wonder about verses like Mark 9:42 and Leviticus 5:17.

    4. If the purpose of the cross was to redeem man and forgive sins, why do we see Jesus in the gospels forgiving people's sins? Why did Jesus need to go to the cross at all if he could forgive sins on earth? Doesn't this diminish the meaning of the cross if Jesus had this authority all along and could have just forgiven everyone?

    5. I believe Jesus Christ died for my sins and was raised from the dead. My life is full of testimony, but I struggle with whether or not I have been made new. I do not have an awe-inspiring origin story of when I initially gave my life to Christ. I started to volunteer with youth, and I want to be positive and careful with what light I can shine.
