Ep298: Trauma Shrauma – Does Trauma Work Increase Weight Loss Results? Nov 07, 2020
    Show notes

Do a little digging into an emotional eater’s past and you’re likely to find trauma…of many kinds. But will trauma work release the shackles of food addiction? In my experience, it takes more than that. In this episode, I discuss my personal path of healing and how rooting out childhood trauma that has driven food obsession isn’t always the most direct path to overcoming that obsession. There’s a quicker, easier way and I share it here.

    Ep297: Grief: It’s a Thing Oct 30, 2020
    Show notes

If you’ve ever lost a loved one, you are no stranger to grief. And if you’re an emotional eater, you’re no stranger to stuffing the strong feelings of grief with food. In this episode, I talk about my own experience of grief as I am currently going through it. (Nothing like reporting from the front lines!) I share about how I’m moving through the stages of grief, what tools are proving useful, and my best tips for getting to the other side of grief, with dignity and grace (instead of medicating my feelings with food).

Ep296: Mastering Menopause with Dr Kyrin Dunston, MD Oct 26, 2020
    Show notes

Hot flashes, insomnia, and weight gain? Hormonal changes during perimenopause and menopause can make life hard…but it doesn’t have to be that way. In this episode, I interview Dr. Kyrin Dunston MD, functional medicine OB/GYN, about how to enter menopause with more ease and grace than you ever thought possible. Girlfriends, we can do this!

Ep295: Depression or Expression: Your Choice Oct 12, 2020
    Show notes

If you have a tendency to get depressed, you may also find yourself burying your feelings, perhaps stuffing them with food, alcohol or T.V. Then you might isolate even more, feeling bad about your choices and shutting others off. But medication won’t solve the problem. A recent heavy load of negative emotions reinforced the importance of expression, and in this episode, I lay out how I got through those feelings so they didn’t turn into depression.

Ep294: My Unconscious Weight Gain Sep 30, 2020
    Show notes

If you’ve ever gained weight without realizing it, guess what? It happens. But how did it happen? In this episode, I answer that question, based on my own personal experience of recently unconsciously putting on weight. Weight gain doesn’t just happen, so it’s important to do some sleuthing work and find out what thoughts and decisions have triggered the overeating that caused the weight gain. After all, overeating begins with a thought, not a bite of food.

Ep293: We’re as Sick as Our Secrets Sep 23, 2020
    Show notes

Do you hide the “evidence” after a binge so no one will find out? Do you put on a happy face with others, never letting people know when you’re feeling down? Secrets keep us feeling isolated and alone, and they perpetuate emotional eating. If you want to experience lasting weight loss, it’s time to stop hiding and let yourself be seen. In this episode, I share about the kinds of secrets I lived with before that drove my out-of-control eating, and how I was able to finally heal.

Ep292: How to Overcome a Bad Breakup with Food Sep 20, 2020
    Show notes

When food binges get so bad that we swear off sugar and carbs “for good”, then what do we do? We want to be done, but we still feel a sense of loss and emptiness. When comfort eating has been our #1 way of coping with life, we need a new way to cope, or we’ll turn back to the food, just like returning to the familiarity of an abusive relationship. Join me as I explore how to break up with food…and mean it.

Ep291: Anxiety & Depression: The Gut-Brain Connection with Dr. Tracy McCarthy Sep 16, 2020

But medication isn’t necessarily the solution because it doesn’t address and heal the underlying causes. In my talk with Dr. Tracy McCarthy, psychiatrist and functional medicine physician, we discuss the various causes and simple solutions that can help you heal naturally.Visit Dr. McMarthy at https://catalysthealthcfm.com/team/dr-tracy-mccarthy
