    97. Building a Brand that Celebrates Your Roots with Katie Beal Brown May 24, 2023
    Show notes

Today we have a special guest coming to us all the way from Texas! On this episode, Katie Beal Brown shares her journey and advice of building a brand that celebrates your roots.

Katie Beal Brown is a fourth-generation West Texan, born and raised in Midland, TX. Growing up, some of her fondest memories were from the time spent with her grandparents out on their family’s ranch in Far West Texas near Fort Davis.

With years of experience at industry-leading agencies, she set out on a new venture to build her own brand, Lone River, celebrating her roots in West Texas. Lone River pioneered the tequila-style hard seltzer category with its introduction of Lone River Ranch Water and more recently Lone River Ranch Rita. Lone River now leads the tequila-style seltzer category as the #1 Ranch Water in the U.S. Katie continues to lead the business on a day-to-day basis, as CEO of the brand and works closely with Diageo leadership to build further on Lone River’s success.

In this episode, we’ll chat about:

    • The story of her pivot from working in advertising in New York to moving back to Texas to launch an entire brand and journey
    • Measuring success by how far we’ve come and what we’ve already accomplished instead of what’s yet to come
    • As an entrepreneur, having to get comfortable making decisions with an element of unknown
    • The power of a brand and having a story behind it to tell
    • Finding ourselves right where we’re at and focusing on belonging instead of fitting in

    96. 5 Things My Yarden is Teaching Me May 17, 2023
    Show notes

This year, I planted my very first garden, or as I like to call it, my “yarden.” I’ve partnered with my local farmer-owned co-op Farm Supply Company for the process. What you need to know is that historically, I don’t have a great track record with plants. I either drown them with too much love and water or just forget they exist entirely until they shrivel up and die. I’m working on finding the happy in-between.

I took on this project to prove to myself once again that new habits can be formed, identities can shift, and maybe I do have a green thumb after all! Time will tell. But so far, things are going better than expected and I've learned a lot, not just about gardening, in the process, but also about myself. So in today's episode, I'm sharing 5 things my yarden is teaching me.

In this episode, we’ll chat about:

    • Getting curious about the identities that we hold true about ourselves and deciphering if they are actually true or if we’ve just believed them for so long
    • Creating space to grow into your full potential
    • What negativity bias is and how it impacts our thoughts
    • Boundaries show love and respect to ourselves and to others

    94. Money is Abundant, Time is Not May 03, 2023
    Show notes

Healing my relationship with money has been an ongoing journey. I grew up always feeling like there was too little of it in the world and a lot of scarcity around my ability to make money which REALLY came to the surface when I became an entrepreneur. To be fully transparent, I’m still working on that, but I feel like I’ve come a long way. So in today’s episode, I talk about how money is abundant, time is not.

In this episode, we’ll chat about:

    • Our plans to spend three weeks in Europe!
    • Finding a balance between using money as a tool to experience the world and also saving it mindfully to prepare for the future
    • Savoring the season you’re in
    • Focusing on what will be important at the end of your life

I first met today’s guest, Leeana Tankersley, a couple months ago in small town Kansas. As total strangers, I had the privilege of being her roommate at the Cultivating Courage Conference. 90. It's Hard to Close a Good Chapter Apr 05, 2023
    Show notes

I recently got home from Emily Reuschel’s ASCEND retreat which brings rural women together who are ready to find community, growth, and step into the next chapter of their lives. During this retreat, there was a theme that kept coming up: The concept of how hard it is to close a good chapter. I resonated with this struggle so deeply, so today we’re going to talk through that idea and what’s on the other side of that good chapter.

In this episode, we’ll chat about:

    • My Coach Kiah identity crisis
    • The discomfort of growth
    • Sometimes letting go of a good thing is exactly what is meant for our growth
