    Canadian Club of Toronto

    The Canadian Club of Toronto is Canada’s preeminent public affairs podium. Since 1897, we have served an ambitious and important mission: to connect Canadians with world-class leaders and newsmakers and be a leading platform for influencers to engage Canadians on what matters most.

    Over our 125 year history as a not-for-profit organization, we continue to be a forum for Governors General and Prime Ministers, CEOs and Nobel laureates, scientists, artists and innovators. We have a proud tradition of hosting national and international leaders in politics, business, social innovation and the media, and our members and audiences are drawn from an equally diverse and distinguished group of leaders.

    The Canadian Club addresses routinely generate national coverage across multiple platforms. In addition to reported media coverage and our in-person audience of several hundred people, we make our programming accessible to all Canadians through broadcasts on cable television and webcasts, available online.

    Events run between September and June in downtown Toronto. As an independent, non-profit organization, we make all our events open to the public. Tickets can be purchased online or through our office at 416-364-5590.

    In advance of the government’s first budget, Minister Bethlenfalvy will be sharing his vision for setting the province on a path to restore fiscal health in a way that is pragmatic and responsible. Join Canadian Club Toronto on April 4, when Minister Bethlenfalvy will speak about the steps Ontario is taking to find efficiencies and constrain the cost of government operations without compromising front line services. Additionally, he will address the challenges and opportunities that he believes are on the horizon for the province. On June 29th, the Hon. Peter Bethlenfalvy was appointed President of the Treasury Board by Premier Doug Ford, signaling the government’s continued commitment to putting the people first, and restoring trust and accountability in Ontario’s finances. Minister Bethlenfalvy leads the government’s efforts on expenditure management, which includes the line-by-line review of the province’s finances. An internationally-renowned figure in the financial services sector, Minister Bethlenfalvy draws upon over 25 years of senior leadership experience in capital markets, risk management and investments. Prior to politics, he served as Chief Investment and Risk Officer at CST Consultants. He was also the Senior Vice President, Financial Regulations, at Manulife Financial, where he spearheaded strategy and monitoring efforts of global financial regulatory systems. Previously, Minister Bethlenfalvy served as Co-President at DBRS Ltd., where he managed the team that downgraded Ontario’s short and long-term debt ratings in 2009. He started his career with TD in New York, where he ultimately served as President and Chief Operating Officer of TD Securities.
