    Canadian Club of Toronto

The Canadian Club of Toronto is Canada’s preeminent public affairs podium. Since 1897, we have served an ambitious and important mission: to connect Canadians with world-class leaders and newsmakers and be a leading platform for influencers to engage Canadians on what matters most.

Over our 125 year history as a not-for-profit organization, we continue to be a forum for Governors General and Prime Ministers, CEOs and Nobel laureates, scientists, artists and innovators. We have a proud tradition of hosting national and international leaders in politics, business, social innovation and the media, and our members and audiences are drawn from an equally diverse and distinguished group of leaders.

The Canadian Club addresses routinely generate national coverage across multiple platforms. In addition to reported media coverage and our in-person audience of several hundred people, we make our programming accessible to all Canadians through broadcasts on cable television and webcasts, available online.

Events run between September and June in downtown Toronto. As an independent, non-profit organization, we make all our events open to the public. Tickets can be purchased online or through our office at 416-364-5590.

Join Canadian Club Toronto on January 30th when William Lynch, President of Peloton, sits down with Amber Mac to discuss how Peloton, which recently launched in Canada, is driving the future of fitness through its game-changing technology. Since its launch in 2012 in the US, the leading global technology company, which has been dubbed the ‘Netflix of fitness’ by media, has become the go-to exercise regimen for everyone from CEOs to busy parents to high-profile celebrities who need a more convenient way to exercise. With a recent $4 billion valuation, Peloton entered both the UK and Canada this past fall, marking the company’s first foray outside the US market. Peloton recently expanded its content “beyond the bike” with Peloton Digital, which offers running, yoga, bootcamp, stretching, strength, and cardio classes. All content is produced in the brand’s state-of-the-art NYC studios, run by Emmy award-winning television producers, with world-class instructors leading all classes. In a fireside chat, Lynch will expand on why Peloton is viewed as one of the largest industry disruptors, how the company created a strong community that empowers people to be the best versions of themselves, and what’s next for the brand.

    Ed Clark Dec 13, 2018
    Show notes

Ed Clark, Chair of the Vector Institute, will deliver a speech presenting the progress and potential of the Pan Canadian AI Strategy, which was made possible through a unique combination of support from the Government of Canada, and the Governments of Ontario, Alberta, and Quebec, and Canadian businesses, large and small. In just over a year and a half, the Vector Institute in Toronto, Amii in Edmonton, and Mila in Montreal have drawn world-renowned academics, attracted millions of dollars in new AI and tech investment, and contributed to the creation of thousands of jobs. AI is working. The technology is increasing productivity in Canadian industries, advancing Canada’s shift to a knowledge economy, and improving the lives of Canadian citizens. Canada led the world when the Federal Government launched the national AI Strategy, but now faces a world where many countries have launched aggressive AI strategies. Mr. Clark will address not only the economic challenges this represents, but also the worries many have with the widespread adoption of AI and the approach Canada must follow to make sure AI continues to work for all. Mr. Clark’s speech will be followed by a discussion with Alán Aspuru-Guzik, Marzyeh Ghassemi and Raquel Urtasun, moderated by Dr. Garth Gibson, President and CEO of the Vector Institute.
