The Addict II Athlete podcast is hosted by Coach Blu Robinson, a licensed clinical mental health counselor and substance abuse counselor who has worked in the field since 2001. He is a fantastic public speaker, coach, and therapist who works with many individuals, youth, couples, and families addressing issues like addiction, trauma, communication, parenting, and more. We share recovery stories, education, life tips, address teen and parenting issues, and more. Our topics address all walks of life but also addiction recovery with tips and fundamentals for those seeking recovery as well as the family and friends of someone who is. Addict II Athlete removes the negative stigma of addiction and mental health and creates a foundation of potential and support. Addict to Athlete is a nonprofit team of peers, friends, and family who have a desire to create a new way of life. By knowing an addict, having been affected by addiction, or being in recovery yourselves, Team Addict II Athlete is here to help. We have come together to help one another with the outcome from all angles of addiction using our Erase and Replace Philosophy. Erase negative behaviors by replacing the void left behind with health, service, support system, and recreation. We are here to carry the message of recovery and change the outlook of addiction. Our goal is to spread the message of recovery to the addict and family of the addict who still struggles with addiction and to show that we have discovered a more excellent way to live. Moving from Addict to Athlete, dismisses the old way of thinking that recovery must remain anonymous as you become an Agent of Sobriety and a Champion of recovery. AIIA Minor League with Savannah Robinson: Moving Forward and Glancing Back Oct 30, 2023
    Show notes

Today's episode is for our Minor League (18 and under). Savannah is Coach Blu's 17 yo daughter. On this episode she and Coach Blu discuss moving forward and glancing back and how they are complementary actions that shape our journey through life. She hosts this episode to discuss teen issues. Moving forward represents our constant drive to grow, evolve, and embrace new experiences. It is the propulsion that propels us towards our goals and aspirations, pushing us beyond our comfort zones. Moving forward allows us to learn from our past, make necessary adjustments, and seize opportunities for personal and professional growth. On the other hand, glancing back is an essential reflection of our past experiences. It enables us to acknowledge our accomplishments, learn from our mistakes, and gain wisdom from the lessons life has taught us. Glancing back provides us with a broader perspective, helping us appreciate our journey and make informed decisions for the future. Balancing both moving forward and glancing back allows us to navigate our path with intention, resilience, and continuous self-improvement.

At The Core of Addiction Oct 04, 2021
    Show notes

Have you ever wondered what's at the core of addiction? What is the causality of addiction? Have you ever wondered what it is that created your addiction in the first place? Do you know the difference between recovery and healing from addiction? Do you know how important it is for you to strengthen your mind and change your thinking in order to recover and heal from addiction? These are questions answered and discussed on this week's podcast. Listen as Coach Blu describes his approach to addiction recovery, using your mind as a tool rather than an obstacle and being able to truly identify what caused your addiction in the first place. There are so many pathways to recovery that more information and more tools you can use to overcome trauma, addiction, and mental health could only strengthen your overall understanding and pursuit of a sober lifestyle.

Mindset Is Everything with Shadrach Feild May 31, 2021
    Show notes

Coach Blu interviews Shad Feild, cowboy, pilot, and son of Lewis Feild. After a traumatic plane crash in August 2020, Shad didn't know if he would ever walk again. He met team Addict II Athlete when he started a HIIT class with Coach James Johnson to help him build his strength back. Coach Johnson immediately invited him skydiving with the team to help him erase and replace that experience.
Shad shares how his mindset was the pinnacle to being able to handle this trial. Shad said, "I was taught from a very young age to get back on that horse when you get bucked off! It's not always easy to conquer our fears but it's so freeing. I felt like it would be a good way to erase some of the negative brought on by the accident and replace it with something BIG, something I'd remember and have somewhat of a fresh start with my love for aviation."

You can watch the last few minutes of the plane crash here, subscribe to Shad's YouTube channel, and follow him on Instagram.
