    Addict II Athlete Podcast

The Addict II Athlete podcast is hosted by Coach Blu Robinson, a licensed clinical mental health counselor and substance abuse counselor who has worked in the field since 2001. He is a fantastic public speaker, coach, and therapist who works with many individuals, youth, couples, and families addressing issues like addiction, trauma, communication, parenting, and more. Blu hopes to provide listeners with the skills and game plans for anyone to turn their mess into their message of hope and a bright future. The AIIA podcast is here to inspire anyone. We share recovery stories, education, life tips, address teen and parenting issues, and more. Our topics address all walks of life but also addiction recovery with tips and fundamentals for those seeking recovery as well as the family and friends of someone who is. Addict II Athlete removes the negative stigma of addiction and mental health and creates a foundation of potential and support. Addict to Athlete is a nonprofit team of peers, friends, and family who have a desire to create a new way of life. By knowing an addict, having been affected by addiction, or being in recovery yourselves, Team Addict II Athlete is here to help. We have come together to help one another with the outcome from all angles of addiction using our Erase and Replace Philosophy. Erase negative behaviors by replacing the void left behind with health, service, support system, and recreation. We are here to carry the message of recovery and change the outlook of addiction. Our goal is to spread the message of recovery to the addict and family of the addict who still struggles with addiction and to show that we have discovered a more excellent way to live. Moving from Addict to Athlete, dismisses the old way of thinking that recovery must remain anonymous as you become an Agent of Sobriety and a Champion of recovery. Recovery Is More Than Sobriety with Candice Furubayashi Sep 21, 2026
    Show notes

In this episode of the Addict to Athlete Podcast, Coach Blu welcomes Candice Furubayashi, a woman in long-term recovery whose journey began nearly nine and a half years ago at Mountain Peak Recovery. Candice shares how sponsorship, completing the Twelve Steps, participating in recovery-centered activities, and surrounding herself with supportive people helped her maintain sobriety and build a new way of life.

Candice also discusses her transition from a demanding marketing career to yoga, Ayurvedic wellness, and substance use disorder counseling after experiencing burnout, stress, and physical symptoms. Now working at Watercourse Way Wellness, she and Coach Blu explore the importance of addressing core issues, staying connected to a recovery community, making time for play and wellness, and recognizing that lasting recovery cannot be maintained alone.

This episode is a powerful reminder that recovery is not only about stopping substance use. It is also about discovering balance, building meaningful connections, turning personal pain into purpose, and using lived experience to help others.

One on One with Coach Blu: Think Before You Act Sep 15, 2021
    Show notes

On this week's episode of One on One with Coach Blu, we take a deep dive into the fallout over the Brigham Young University versus University of Utah rivalry football game played on September 11, 2021, and controversy over the Board of Director's Make-A-Wish, Mr. Todd Noall's decision to wear a shirt depicting former BYU quarterback and NFL great Max Hall's mug shot as a gesture of poor sportsmanship. Listen as Coach Blu describes the significance behind the issue of losing 255 people a day to addiction and overdose and the negative stigma this kind of action promotes. There are hundreds of stories of people who have lost their battle to addiction and to have the audacity to mock someone who has redeemed themselves and placed recovery as a primary driving force in their life is simply disrespectful. We have much work to do at the stigma of addiction and recovery is very real and the assistance of community support groups is very much in need. Let's show more love, empathy, and understanding.
