489: A Sandwich and a Footlong Jun 22, 2023

Show notes

Last week, Allen did the podcast from Florida, where he’d taken their 15-year-old son Cole for a baseball tournament. Allen shares the drama that took place on the road trip back home, which included a BOTA match that Allen finally lost. And during all that father and son bonding time, did Allen create a monster?
Allen’s Father’s Day celebration included a day at the ballpark, a surprise present, and a card from The Donald.
With his baby blue eyes and dimples, 10-year-old Dylan can pretty much get anything he wants….as long as Kellie says it’s okay. So that means Kellie — or rather, Dylan and Allen — now have an aquarium. And there’s a lot more to having one than they realized!
An original Podcast Family Vacation member had a hot sports opinion about Pat Sajak retiring from “Wheel of Fortune,” and it made national news!
And what would a well-rounded podcast be without another Kellie Claps Back?

488: A Sandwich and Some Birds & Bees Jun 15, 2023

Show notes

Kellie is sitting solo in one of Allen’s 3 man caves while Allen calls in from Florida, where he’s taken their 15-year-old son Cole for a baseball tournament. It’s led to lots of bonding time and dad jokes, but when Allen tries to share one of those jokes on social media, it goes very wrong. But then, why does he feel the need to share it in the family group chat??
When talking about all that father/son bonding, Kellie asks Allen if he’s had “the talk” with Cole. It turns out Allen had already had a version of that talk with Cole, and he shares some of that. It’s very different from “the talk” Kellie received from her mom when she was in the 5th grade, which was even MORE different than the talk Kellie had with Emma Kelly when she was about that same age!
Being a big Star Wars fan, Kellie has some news for Allen about Disney’s billion+ dollar blunder with their Star Wars-themed hotel.
And finally, Kellie’s been binge-watching shows she doesn’t think Allen would watch with her and has a recommendation for a new streaming series, if you don’t mind feeling frustrated at the end.

If you talk about something random and the next thing you know, you’re getting ads for it, it’s not just a coincidence. Your phone is listening to you! Allen received an email that was a little TOO targeted to what’s happening in his pants, so now he’s going to share some technology hacks that should make that stop.
