The Loud Blonde on Owning Your Voice with Kelly Cochran Jul 01, 2019
    Show notes

Kelly Cochran is the unapologetic writer, speaker, and CEO of Loud Blonde, a marketing company helping female entrepreneurs bring bold businesses to life online. Kelly is passionate about encouraging women to listen to their instincts and speak their truth at the highest volume. Her hold-no-punches attitude sheds refreshing light on subjects most women are dying to—but too fearful to—talk about.

Kelly is the author of LOUD: Silence Your Critics & Turn Up the Volume on Your Life, a hilarious self-help book for any woman dying to ditch the doubt and tune into her own boldest inner voice once and for all. Learn more about Kelly and download a free chapter of her book at loudblonde.com/book

What I loved about this conversation is the focus on seeing your 'weaknesses', in Kelly's case being loud and getting fired from past jobs, as an asset. She turned it around and saw that her loud voice could be used to help other women to uncover their own voice. She got ok with getting out of the box, drawing outside of the lines and embracing how she was wired. Our intention is for you to do the same in your life.

Here are some key take-aways which I hope inspire and uplift you:

    1. Ways to tune into your inner voice is to get quiet. This can be tough when we are always rushing and busy. Whether it's meditating or taking a walk, make sure to get time daily to really pause and be still. You can't hear your voice amidst all the other noise.
    2. When you're overly busy, look at the why underneath...are you trying to not deal with something or keep busy to avoid an emotion or feeling? Be on the look out for using busy to cope with life.
    3. Journaling, as well as doodling and drawing, are great ways to allow your subconscious to play and connect with you. Rather than journaling with a question, just sit back and see what comes up.

"Lean into your wiring. It's time to blaze your own trail. You're not broken, you've just got to fully embrace and accept your distinct and unique wiring."

You can read more about Kelly's book at loudblonde.com/book.

Things You'll Learn From This Episode

    1. Emotions are like weather, nothing is good or bad, just is. Allow yourself to prepare for your emotions like you would for a storm, hot day or snowfall. Your body is meant to move and process all emotions.
    2. We are emotional beings and are often too stuck in our head. Emotions don't live in your head, they take space in your physical body. Give yourself time and room to move and process all emotions.
    3. If you're new to processing and moving through emotions, start with baby steps like standing in front of a mirror and allowing yourself to move, connect to your eyes and body and see how your body likes to flow. Find drumming or a primal beat to move to and feel the healing with each movement.
    4. Animals shake off excess energy after they encounter a near-death experience (ex, if a Gazelle is chased by a Lion, it would need to shake off afterwards). We are the same in that we process stress and often don't make time to shake it off. Like the song, you literally want to give yourself space to 'shake it out and off'. It helps to reset your nervous system.

Samantha Moultrup on Being a Psychic Medium Jun 24, 2019
    Show notes

Samantha Moultrup is a mom of two, entrepreneur and psychic intuitive. She is able to access higher consciousness to deliver messages, guidance and empowering information.

You can learn more about Samantha and dive deeper with her at: www.thesoultherapist.com or in her Facebook group @thesoultherapist where she does impromptu readings, shares inspirational messages and connects.

Ok, my friends, this is one of my favorite topics to explore and in this convo, we go pretty darn deep. Hope you enjoy, and feel free to reach out to Sam with any Q's or thoughts after listening.

Things You'll Learn From This Episode

    1. Every one of us has intuition and the ability to cultivate it. We'll get into ways to do this. One of the first things you can do is to start tuning in to your gut feelings. Notice when you have one, where you feel it, what you are hearing or sensing and take note of what happened when you listened (or didn't listen).
    2. Other ways to cultivate your intuition: start to ask your guides (angels, higher consciousness or whatever you call this team of support) for little things. Sam talked about asking for a parking spot near the shopping carts so it was easier with her children. Start with small asks. Share your experiences with safe and trusted friends, and keep a journal where you can write down what's happening, your feelings and experiences and any signs or symbols you're noticing. Journaling allows you to go back and review what has happened.
    3. We are all made of energy and energy is contagious (whether it's positive or negative energy). You will attract the same energy that you are emitting.
    4. The more time you take to take care of your self and your wellbeing, the more you'll be able to access your gifts, talents, and intuition.

Big Dream In A Tiny House with Asha Mevlana Jun 19, 2019
    Show notes

As a musician, Asha Mevlana is currently the lead violinist for the Trans Siberian Orchestra. Her favorite music memories include touring with Dee Snider (Twisted Sister) and Gnarls Barkley and performing at the Grammys. While she was living in Los Angeles, Asha performed regularly with the American Idol band, The Tonight Show, The Ellen Show and played with Mary J. Blige, Jay-Z, and Alanis Morrisette. Asha also built a 400 sq. ft. Tiny House and was featured on HGTV on the Tiny House Nation Show. Asha was also a very dear friend in high school, in my AP Bio class, and has always been a world class woman. She now lives in Arkansas with her dog Bali.

Asha talks about how she always played it safe in life until her breast cancer diagnosis at the young age of 24. This experience changed her life, and today she now lives out of her comfort zone and taking on fear with excitement and unabashed readiness. You are going to be so inspired by Asha's wisdom and candid sharing.

Things You'll Learn From This Episode

    1. Hopefully, you never are in a situation with a life-threatening illness, but imagining you only have a year to live, ask yourself; 'What do I really want to do?' Listen carefully and then start taking action!
    2. Be comfortable with risk and stop playing safe, and instead tune in to your heart and intuition...there lies your deepest connection to yourself and the world.
    3. In the end, what matters is family, community and connection. Find ways to nurture those relationships now.
    4. Make a list of everything you're scared of doing or want to do in your life, and start finding ways to manifest each one. Life is in the now.
    5. Reframe fear and see it as excitement and build your muscle and comfortability with the unknown...there lies your best life.

JJ is such an inspiration and warrior for taking on your life with power, intention, love, deep self-care and meaning. I was moved to tears listening to what she had to go through.

Things You'll Learn From This Episode

    1. There is no someday or tomorrow, you must own your health NOW.
    2. You are personally responsible for your health. It is the most important asset you have. Take care of this first as you never know when you'll need to face a challenge and your health will be a saving grace.
    3. If you can't do it for yourself or struggle with self-worth, find an excellent coach who can help you around self-worth. Pay more than you normally will so you pay attention. (Ok friends, if you are looking for a coach to work with you, I would love to be on that journey and/or can recommend some amazing other coaches)
    4. Choose one thing at a time to focus on with making health changes or losing weight. Use the principals of 'The One Thing' (see the episode with Jay Papasan as a reference on this book) and keep your eyes on one thing.
    5. Stay in gratitude, especially around the most challenging times. This will be a game changer and can shift how you feel about yourself and life.
    6. With weight loss, if you struggle with food addiction or addictive foods, keep the triggers out of your house and understand there is no margin of error. Eating, unlike drinking alcohol, is a must. Find foods that nourish you but don't trigger you. See JJ's cookbook for great ideas.

Ocean Robbins on Starting A Food Revolution With The Grandson Of Baskin-Robbins Jun 10, 2019
    Show notes

Ocean Robbins is the CEO and co-founder of the 500,000+ member Food Revolution Network — one of the largest communities of healthy eating advocates on the planet. He has held hundreds of live seminars and events that have touched millions of lives from 190 nations.

He is also the author of the bestselling book, 31-Day Food Revolution. Ocean is founder and was director of the nonprofit YES!, which has led transformational events for 650,000 leaders in 65 nations. He's a recipient of the national Jefferson Award for Outstanding Public Service, the Freedom's Flame Award, the Harmon Wilkinson Award, and numerous other honors.

Things We Learned From This Episode
    1. 90% of Americans try to eat healthy but have no idea what that means or where to begin and are confused in general about how to eat well.
    2. Most Americans eat 15 lbs of sugar a year and get 1400 chemicals through their food (processed food)!
    3. Sugar (not including natural sugar from fruit) is more addictive than drugs like heroine, and hit your reward center in your brain giving you a rush of dopamine (feel good hormone). It is not your fault if you are addicted to sugar and flour (flour also has the same sugar like effects on your body).
    4. The best place to start is by taking action and making a food shopping list, getting rid of processed items and cooking at home, preparing food for the week. Sharing homemade food with friends, family and neighbors also creates deeper bonds and social connections.
    5. Getting at least 3 servings of greens a day can add 11 years of healthy brain function to your life...kale, anyone?! :)

Ocean has served as adjunct professor for Chapman University, and on the boards of Friends Of The Earth, Creating Our Future, Tipping Point Network, Turning Tide Coalition, and many other organizations.

Ocean's grandfather founded Baskin-Robbins, and his father, John Robbins, walked away from the family company and ice cream fortune to write bestsellers, including Diet for a New America, and to become a renowned health advocate. Now, Ocean is on a mission to transform the industrialized food culture into one that celebrates and supports healthy people and a healthy planet, and he's inviting YOU to join the food revolution.

Ocean has been featured in: Time Magazine, Audubon, USA Today, New York Times Magazine, The Washington Post. And he's been seen by hundreds of millions in TV, radio, online, and in-person appearances.

About the Book: 31-Day Food Revolution is a guide to liberation from a toxic food world. Author Ocean Robbins reveals the secrets the industrialized food industry doesn't want people to know, how specific ingredients and methods could be making people sick, and what they can do about it. And he shows how to use the amazing power of delicious food to heal the gut, lose excess weight, and lower the risk for disease — all while contributing to a healthier planet. In his nonjudgmental and down-to-earth way, Ocean Robbins meets people wherever they are on their personal journey with food, helping make small improvements that lead to big results.

Things We Learned from Dan Casetta

    1. Being the best version of myself means constantly learning and growing and sharing this with others.
    2. Learning how to bounce back from challenges has been a major asset to handlling these situations like blips on the screen vs. prolonged downturns. The question I ask myself to help with any situation is "Am I going to die RIGHT NOW?" This question gives immediate perspective.
    3. The steps to becoming your most successful is through consistent incremental growthy, which eventuall explodes into exponential improvement.
    4. Whether you are in sales, have your own business or are looking for more connection with others, the most important thing you can do is find ways to add authentic value to others and develop genuine interest in others.
    5. Finding the balance between a successful career and family has meant adopting the principle 'work to live', not the other way around.
    6. Do What You Love can be a misguided piece of advice. If "what you love" doesn't add value to the world, it should be a hobby, not something more. Do something that ADDS VALUE to the world. If you can intersect this with doing something you love, that's ideal. But if not, do something that adds value as your career, and do what you love as your hobby.

Better Sex & Relationships With Intimacy Expert, Dr. Jennifer Gunsaullus Jun 03, 2019
    Show notes

*Note: if you're listening with small ones around, you'll want to grab your earphones. Just be mindful that there is some explicit language.

Dr. Jen Gunsaullus is a sociologist and intimacy coach, and is a national speaker on couples intimacy, sexual consent, healthy relationships, erotic play, and mindful sex. She has presented two TEDx Talks, is the co-host of the podcast Sex Talk with Clint & the Doc, and her first book, From Madness to Mindfulness: Reinventing Sex for Women, will be published in August 2019. Dr. Jenn has over 1.5 million hits on her In the Den with Dr. Jenn YouTube video series, and is an expert in the documentary on masturbation, called Sticky: A (Self) Love Story. Learn more about Dr. Jen and how to add more pleasure, body kindness and intimacy into your life at www.drjennsden.com.

I enjoyed this super open conversation so much because I truly believe that we as human beings deserve to enjoy and experience authentic, loving and open connection, and intimacy with ourselves and others. Many of us can get caught in stories around body shame and lack of worthiness, negative past experiences and stories from our past that keep us from experiencing real and safe sexual, sensual and heart-centered connection.

Here are some of the takeaways from our talk:

    • A great place to start with your own sensual and sexual journey, especially if it's not where you'd like it to be, is by journaling about the earliest messages you received about what it meant to be a woman (or man), to be sexual, what your religion or family had to say about it, and anything you can remember that might have been a negative connotation.
    • Rewrite your sexual story by looking at how you want to feel and experience connection, intimacy, and sex.
    • If you struggle with being intimate with your partner for any number of reasons, create 'Happy Naked Fun Time' for 45 - 60 min, without kids or other distractions, where you are naked (or almost naked) and there's time to cuddle, connect and have fun without the pressure of sex. Start with at least once/week and reconnect to your partner in a space without pressure to perform or have a sexual outcome.
    • Embodied pleasure starts with self-compassion and mindfulness. To fully enjoy any connection or sensual moment, you must be present. If you find yourself distracted or worried about a 'to-do' list, focus on the moment and your 5 senses.

Do It Scared with Ruth Soukup May 29, 2019
    Show notes

New York Times bestselling author Ruth Soukup is dedicated to helping women overcome fear and create a life they love. Through her blog, Living Well Spending Less, which reaches more than 1 million women each month, she encourages her readers to follow their dreams and reach their goals. She is also the founder of the Living Well Planner® and Elite Blog Academy®, as well as the author of five bestselling books.

Her practical advice has been featured in numerous publications and news programs, including Women's Day, Redbook, Family Circle, and Fox News. Her Do It Scared® podcast launched on April 30, 2018, and her next book, Do It Scared®: Finding the Courage to Face Your Fears, Overcome Obstacles, and Create a Life You Love (Harper Collins) will be available in May 2019.

Running a successful 7-figure business was not where Ruth began. You'll definitely want to listen and hear her very moving story going from hopelessness to a life full of not just hope, but also joy and peace. You can't tune in and not be inspired by her sharing. We did dive into the way to 'do it scared', which is the motto that helped Ruth go from a deep depression and multi-suicide attempts to taking one baby step at a time to regaining her life back.

Here are some of the takeaways from our talk:

    • The more you practice courage in doing something that scares you, the more of it you'll have. Courage is a muscle that needs to be worked out.
    • Ruth interviewed over 4,000 people and came up with 7 Fear Archetypes: Procrastinator, Outcast, Rule Follower, People Pleaser, Self-Doubter, Excuse Maker and the Pessimist. Take the free online assessment at doitscared.com, to see what fear you gravitate towards.
    • Get an accountability buddy or group to help you with taking new actions, steps and changing your thought patterns. This has helped transform Ruth's life (and mine).

Get Ruth's book, 'Do It Scared' on Amazon and connect further at doitscared.com.
