    Woven

A chef and a theologian step up to the microphone and out flows the Woven podcast. As a former professional chef currently striving to mother as a verb, Rebecca Cochran sees life and faith through the lens of food and community. Rebecca Peet is a theologian, writer and speaker who believes intimacy with Jesus is the cure for what ails you and sees biblical knowledge as not only approachable but essential for the everywoman. With humor and vulnerability, Woven seeks to encourage women to live balanced lives right where they are- in the arms of Jesus.

Faith and Doubt- An Interview with Stephanie Lobdell Oct 29, 2019
    Show notes

This week we conclude our Faith and Doubt series with our guest, Stephanie Lobdell. Stephanie is a campus pastor, speaker, writer, and a mama of 2. Her first book, Signs of Life: Resurrecting Hope Out of Ordinary Losses, released on October 1. In Signs of Life, Stephanie leads readers into the grand story of God's saving action and resurrection power. Punctuated with stories of biblical figures such as Sarah, Naaman, Saul, and Anna—who faced ordinary deaths and also God's reviving power—Signs of Life claims Jesus' resurrection matters now. In candid and artful prose, Lobdell shares stories of her own depression, loss of confidence, and disillusionment with the church.

In this episode, we discuss doubt and resurrecting faith after periods of church hurt and mental illness. We are so thankful to Stephanie for opening up and sharing her struggles in such a vulnerable way, and for sharing how God has resurrected new faith and hope in the midst of those struggles.

Faith and Doubt- An Interview with Glenna Marshall Oct 22, 2019
    Show notes

Continuing in our Faith and Doubt series, we talk with author, speaker and musician, Glenna Marshall, about Faith and Doubt as they relate to suffering, unmet expectations and dark nights of the soul. We discuss what it means to feel stripped, for doubt to creep in and how we can fight doubt when we realize that God always promises His presence.

Glenna is a pastor's wife, mom of two boys, musician, and writer. She has a long-term relationship with infertility which resulted in a long-term relationship with adoption. She has some chronic illnesses and is regularly learning to trust the Lord with her life, one day at a time. It's taken more than a decade for her to understand just how desperate she is to know Christ and how much she needs Him in every facet of her life. God has used some long, dark roads to teach her to turn to Him in every circumstance: whether it's the dark nights of the soul that challenge every layer of her faith or the patches of joy that break through periods of waiting and longing with such brightness she can only attribute it to the faithful love of God.

Glenna is the author of two books, The Promise is His Presence: Why God is Always Enough (released August 1, 2019) and Everyday Faithfulness: The Beauty of Ordinary Perseverance in a Demanding World (set to release June 2020).

You can connect with Glenna on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram.

Faith and Doubt- Introduction Oct 15, 2019
    Show notes

This week's episode kicks off Season 4!!! We made it to episode 75! In our first series of this season, we explore the journey down the parallel roads of Faith and Doubt in the Christian life. We discuss the fact that the Christian life is not one without the other, and faith only grows stronger when we lean into the fact that we often doubt. God is cool with it, and we need to be cool with it, too. Before we explore this topic with some amazing authors, we share our own journeys through periods of faith and doubt.

Thank you all for your love and support over the last 3 seasons. If you love Woven and have never left a review, please do us a favor and leave one wherever you listen to podcasts. Reviews help others to find us! Thanks a ton!

We dispel the myth that turning 40 is scary. Instead, approaching the "second half" can be quite freeing and hopeful. Cheers to 40!
