    Woven

A chef and a theologian step up to the microphone and out flows the Woven podcast. As a former professional chef currently striving to mother as a verb, Rebecca Cochran sees life and faith through the lens of food and community. Rebecca Peet is a theologian, writer and speaker who believes intimacy with Jesus is the cure for what ails you and sees biblical knowledge as not only approachable but essential for the everywoman. With humor and vulnerability, Woven seeks to encourage women to live balanced lives right where they are- in the arms of Jesus.

This Isn't A Political Issue: Part 1 (An Interview with Pantsuit Politics) Jun 09, 2020
    Show notes

This week we kick off a three-part political series. As we sit in uncertain times, in a divided nation, approaching another election cycle, we want to offer a series that doesn't delve into specific candidates or platforms, but into how we can be grace-filled in our political conversations. We want to be women who don't shy away from the hard discussions, but we want to have them in love.

We are so excited that our first guests in the series are Sarah Stewart Holland and Beth Silvers from Pantsuit Politics. The Pantsuit Politics podcast is "a podcast for real conversations that help us understand politics, democracy, and the news – while still treating each other like thoughtful human beings." They strive "to create an informative and grace-filled space by respecting each other as people who are sharing insights into the issues and our hearts. Grace is something that everyone deserves, and it allows for greater depth in our conversations and connections."

We are so grateful that they shared their insight and words of wisdom on creating a grace-filled space as we delve into the hard topics swirling around in our culture. We at Woven are committed to talking about the hard stuff, but doing it in away that invites everyone to be apart of the conversation.

Want to learn more about Pantsuit Politics? You can visit their website- www.pantsuitpoliticsshow.com. Their bi-weekly show is available wherever you stream podcasts. They are also very active on IG @pantsuitpolitics. You can also purchase their book I Think You're Wrong (But I'm Listening) wherever books are sold.

The Messy Middle Jun 02, 2020
    Show notes

Before we kick-off our summer series, we decided to check-in with each other as we enter this "messy middle" of the pandemic. We discuss how we're doing, what we're learning and what we're eager to get back (also what we're fine with never coming back). We don't know how long this phase will last, when the end will be in sight, but we pray God helps us to thrive in the middle.

{REPLAY} Fun Stuff: Uncluttered with Courtney Ellis (OG Episode 44) May 12, 2020
    Show notes

For the next three weeks, we are celebrating our milestone of 100 episodes by releasing our top 3 most popular shows. Today's episode is our third most popular show ever, and that's no surprise being that it featured one of our favorite ladies (Courtney B. Ellis, 3x guest of Woven) and one of our universal struggles (Uncluttering our lives). It feels as timely as ever in the wake of our global pandemic. We hope you enjoy! ------ Here are the OG show notes from Episode 44: This week, author and pastor Courtney Ellis joins us to wrap up our Fun Stuff series with an episode about Uncluttering. We can't even really talk about "Fun" without talking about what gets in the way of it, and for many of us it's a lot of small things that add up to busy days and tired souls. On this episode, we discuss uncluttering our possessions, our calendars, and our digital spaces. The approaches we take will look very different for every person, but the end results are the same: peace, increased happiness, and rest. Courtney is funny and candid, and we LOVED having her on! Check out Uncluttered (currently the #1 new release in its category!), and enjoy the The FREE Uncluttered study guide and the first chapter of Uncluttered. Check out her website, Facebook and Twitter, too.

1 7"-9" cucumber, cut in half lengthwise 1 1/2 cups Greek yogurt (NOT fat free) 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 1/2 T white vinegar Chopped mint and dill, to taste Remove seeds from cucumber and grate on a box grater. Place on a clean, absorbent kitchen towel and sprinkle liberally with salt. Let sit for a few minutes, then squeeze out as much liquid as possible. Place minced garlic into vinegar, letting sit for 10 minutes or so. In a bowl, combine drained cucumbers and Greek yogurt. Strain vinegar into the mixture, discarding the garlic solids. Mix together with herbs, if desired. Let sit in fridge for an hour to let flavors meld, then add salt and additional vinegar as needed. Serve with pita chips, crudités, grilled meats and vegetables, on top of rice... possibilities are endless!

Invitation to Stay (An Interview with Anjuli Paschall) Apr 14, 2020
    Show notes

Our special guest this week is Anjuli Paschall. Anjuli is a pastor's wife, mom to five wildly beautiful children, retired photographer, founder of "The Moms We Love Club," author, question asker, and spiritual director.

Anjuli also just launched her first book, Stay: Discovering Grace, Freedom, and Wholeness Where You Never Imagined Looking, on March 31. Her book, and our discussion, are an invitation to Stay- stay with our hurts, our pains, our anger, our joy; it's an invitation to be present to it all. Staying in all of it, with Jesus, is where we find true freedom. We feel this message is never more timely than right now as we are all being called to Stay Home physically. May we also learn in this moment how to not just stay physically, but spiritually and emotionally as well.
