Patreon Pick: Silent Hill May 28, 2020

Show notes

Back to the Patreon Picks as we get Luc Shannon from GameItAll.com to give the guys a movie that Nathan holds so near and dear to his hate-heart - Silent Hill. It's a film that with needlessly complicated storytelling that somehow doesn't have a Sean Bean death scene. The guys discuss Pyramid Head ripping a woman's clothes off, Bean roughing up some nuns, the movie not making any sense until a 10-minute explanation after 90 minutes of "action" and much more. Plus: the new coming-of-age theme song for the film. Next week: Listeners Choice Month begins with a Small-Screen Shameful in the form of Skyscraper (no, not the one starring The Rock). Questions? This week, the guys finally tackle a full-fledged Jean-Claude Van Damme flick (No Retreat, No Surrender doesn't count) with the 1990 cult classic Lionheart. They talk about the swanky saxophone soundtrack, a main character that mumbles about 70% of his dialogue, the debut of buns, Cynthia and her amazing outifts and much more. Never Too Young to Die May 07, 2020

Show notes

Remember when Gene Simmons played a villainous hermaphrodite that wants to poison the water supply but is thwarted by an American James Bond-like figure played by John Stamos who is also the son of one-time Bond actor George Lazenby? No? Well then you must have thought it to be a fever dream much like Nathan prior to bringing this movie to the show. Join he and Brendan as they discuss Never Too Young to Die, a movie that is absolutely confounding. From the post-apocalyptic villains in a modern world, the seduction scene that includes some aggressive apple-eating (not a euphemism) and unrequited love from stereotypical Asian roommates, the guys discuss it all. Plus - what exactly is a Stargrove? The guys also drop a hint for next week's movie. Check on Facebook or Twitter on Monday for the reveal! Show notes

They also talk about Eric Roberts LITERALLY phoning in his performance, the obvious techniques to get a performance out of the titular feline, everything taking place in real time, cheese puffs and much more.
