    Stick with It Podcast 132

Are you part of the way to your goal and wondering how to stick with it? This episode will help you with that.

Sometimes, when you have a big goal that requires a lot of time and commitment, it’s easy to lose your way.

You might find yourself doubtful that you can keep up with what got you to this point. You might find that you’re not quite as motivated as you need to be. As you were in the beginning. Or you might find yourself slipping back into old patterns. Patterns that aren’t helpful in getting you closer to what you want.

I want to show you, in this coaching session, how to hold onto the success you’ve created so far, and how to move forward without losing ground or motivation.

This requires looking at your beliefs about yourself. About what you think you are capable of. And about staying for the long haul.

This means knowing how to motivate yourself when that sticky note on your computer screen is no longer noticeable to you.

And this is what you need to do. You need to keep your eye on where you are going. And, at the same time, on what your next step will be.

You’ll learn how to know what to focus on, and when to switch focus. From the future, to the present, and back again and again and again.

You’re creating a new path for yourself. A smooth path. It’s rocky today. But if you stick with it, it will get easier.

Episode 130: Secret Eating – Who Are You Really Hiding From? Jun 25, 2019
    Show notes

    Secret Eating Podcast 130

Tell me if you can relate to this:

    • You go out with friends for a nice restaurant meal and you order a salad. But when you leave, you stop and go through a drive-through, and over-indulge as soon as you get home.
    • You are cleaning up after a nice dinner with friends, and as soon as you bring those plates into the kitchen, you’re throwing away their scraps but you’re also eating half of them.
    • Or, you have a tough day at work. You bravely hold it together, waiting until you can be alone, in your bed, with the TV, and a large bag of chips and a gallon of ice cream.

Do you eat in secret? You know it has nothing to do with the food, right?

Why is it so hard to just be yourself? To eat what really want, without worrying about what others think.

To take care of your stress and your pain with hugs and conversation and maybe some tears, instead of with food.

This is possible. So, let’s talk today about secret eating, why you eat in secret, what it could mean, and how to get rid of that habit.

Because you know how bad it feels when you’re done with your secret eating. Let’s deal with this now, my friend.

Episode 129: How Accountability and Structure Help You Lose Your Eating Issues Jun 18, 2019
    Show notes

    Accountability Podcast 129

What do you think of when I say the word accountability?

Do you think of your old strict 5th grade teacher, asking you for your book report? I thought so.

And what do you think about when I talk about structure?

Do you think of a rigid schedule that has no flexibility and feels a little like prison? Yup. I thought that you might think that.

So, here’s the reality. When you want to achieve something, anything, you need to have a path. Some guidelines. Some things in place that help you know where you are going, how to get there, and signs that you’ve arrived.

Well, that’s exactly what accountability and structure give you. They give you a framework for doing what you most want to do. These are things you can create for yourself, by you, for you. So, there is nothing to rebel against.

Let’s take a look at how accountability and structure can very positively affect how you eat and how you deal with food, so that you can get what you want: ending that emotional eating, losing that extra weight, and living your best life.

    Here we go! Join me.

Episode 128: Why It’s So Hard to Lose Weight if You Can’t See the Truth About Yourself Jun 11, 2019
    Show notes

    Truth Podcast 128

Several years ago, I struggled. With just about everything.

Some days I felt ‘fat’ and other days I was content with my body. Some days I struggled with my eating and other days I just ate naturally. Sometimes I felt attractive, and other days I hated the way I looked. And my moods! I never knew how I’d wake up, feeling up one day and down the next. And I had no idea that I could ever feel a sense of control or understanding of these moods.

My self-image fluctuated wildly. And now I know that this happened because my thoughts about myself were fluctuating wildly too.

I had no compass to tell me the truth. How I really looked and felt and what was real and what was just my story. This takes perspective and being objective about yourself.

Sometimes you have a friend who serves as your mirror. Being with her lets you see yourself as the rest of the world sees you. And then you can be objective about what’s really you.

But sometimes you need the objectivity of a professional, who can see you and help you see yourself. In truth.

Today we’re talking about how to gain some objectivity in how you view life and yourself.

Join me for this short coaching session and ask yourself some important questions about your truth.

Episode 127: Why Self-Care Helps You Lose Weight Jun 04, 2019
    Show notes

    Self-Care Podcast 127

Are you an emotional eater? Check.

Do you give yourself a food treat when you’re sad or tired or angry or need comforting? Check.

Do you think of chocolate as one of your BFFs? Check.

Okay. Grab a seat and join me in this coaching session. I want to show you how and why self-care helps you stop using food as your main pleasure.

We think that having a treat is what we need. But the truth is that most women I work with have no idea what they need. They don’t take the time to figure out what they are really hungry for. And food seems to be the easiest answer.

But if you are carrying extra weight on your body, you already know that food is not the answer. And you may not know how to break this habit of using food for self-care and comfort and a whole lot of things it’s not meant for.

This is where I can help you. Let’s disconnect food from mood and create a self-care plan for your Project YOU. It will feel SO much better.

    Talk Podcast 126

Have you ever thought that you are driving yourself crazy? If you step back and listen to all the things you think about your eating and your weight, it’s not surprising that you might think that.

Imagine the jumble of thoughts you’re thinking about your eating. Why am I eating this? What should I be eating? Why can’t I stick to my plan? What’s wrong with me?

And the list goes on and on and on. It’s enough to drive you crazy. But wait! You are the one thinking those thoughts. You are the one creating that swirl of confusion.

Now, I’m not blaming you. And you shouldn’t blame yourself either. But I think it helps to know that if your thoughts are creating a mess of confusion, then your thoughts are the way out of that confusion.

We all talk to ourselves. You are no exception. I want your self-talk to be honest, but compassionate. And productive.

I want you to be able to think your way out of the mess you’re in. This is doable. And this is what you will learn.

Please join me in this coaching session where we take apart all those crazy-making thoughts in your head, slow them down, and create more meaningful ways of thinking.

And yes, create thoughts that will feel better to you.

Episode 125: Will Eating This Be Worth It? May 21, 2019
    Show notes

    Worth It Podcast 125

The ultimate question that you may never ask yourself. Too often we eat because of a feeling, a memory or a need that has nothing to do with our hunger.

This is not good, right? This is what gives you extra weight to carry around. If your body isn’t hungry, no matter what you think the food may do for you, it will always be extra food that you don’t need.

And extra food is always stored as fat. Period.

So, if you want to lose that extra weight, you need to start questioning yourself before you eat without hunger.

And a good way to do that is to ask: “Will eating this be worth it?”

That will require you to look ahead into the future and think about how you will feel after you eat this thing.

What do you hope eating now will do for you? What are you hoping to accomplish by eating right now?

I want you to learn to look ahead and make your decision about whether to eat based on the results you’ll get. The consequences you’re creating. Because that is the reality.

And rather than just feel bad after you eat something you shouldn’t have, let’s get in the habit of deciding whether this food, these bites, are worth it to you.

That is the question I want you to ask yourself if you want to eat when you aren’t hungry: “Will eating this be worth it?”

    POD 124

Do you ever say this to yourself?

    • I’ll just have a bite.
    • I deserve a little treat.
    • I’ll start fresh tomorrow.

If so, you’re certainly not alone. You may be the most honest person you know, yet when it comes to telling the real truth to yourself, you’re falling a little short.

You want to believe yourself when you say, “I’ll just have a little.” But when we’re talking about eating without hunger, you need to look at your history.

And your history shows that when you start eating for the wrong reason, it tends to keep going.

This is the truth. You want to eat ____________ and you’re not hungry. The truth is, whenever you do this, a little bit becomes a lot. And that is the truth about why you can’t lose weight.

I want you to take a deep look at all the little lies you tell yourself. Some of them may be about eating. And some of them may be about other habits you have, like starting over and over with anything you’re working on.

The feeling these thoughts create feels so real… because it is. It might make you feel justified or entitled to do this thing, or to eat this thing. But since that feeling comes from a little lie you tell yourself, it’s not a feeling based on your reality.

Join me today in this coaching session to uncover the lies you are in the habit of telling yourself.

And let’s wipe the slate clean. You are a person who does not tell lies. Ever. Not even to yourself.

    Tough Times Podcast 123

How are you in your life right now? Are you peaceful? Or stressed?

Wherever you are, know that life is full of hills and valleys. We all go through tough times and big challenges.

Of course, you don’t want to go through a tough time. But this is part of living. And it really makes you appreciate the normal, everyday ups and downs.

The question for today is: How can you get through tough times without resorting to emotional eating?

Do you call it stress eating? Or emotional eating? Whatever you call it, it happens when you tell yourself you can’t handle a painful emotion.

And so, you feel something that doesn’t feel good, and you eat to escape the feeling.

I want you to be able to get through the toughest times and still not go to food that your body doesn’t need.

Can you do this? Yes. You can.

In this coaching session I will walk you through figuring out how you want to show up for the challenges that life will give you. Without eating your way through.

When you get through this tough time, I want you to look back and feel proud, and that you did the best you could do.

Is this hard? Is this a challenge in itself? Maybe. But if you’ve got a plan, and you know how to think your way through it, you’ve got this. Without overeating.
