Purdue Recap - PRESSURE | WUW 461 Oct 09, 2023

Show notes

Most of the game breakdown starts at 35 min mark
The boys talk NFL games as the Broncos break Gary's heart again, more sandwich talk, if college or NFL football means more to certain people, and Kaleb Johnson coming back with a vengeance. We hit our betting recap where the boys had a 2-1 week across the board and are making money! We get a muscatine update which leads us each to a fun high school story before we get into the nitty gritty game recap. We discuss the abysmal passing game this weekend against a very average defense. The inaccuracy of Deacon Hill in his first full game start as a Hawk, some more drops from the Iowa WRs, and other thoughts about our Offensive performance. We discuss the blocked field goal, Coop getting another pick, KF eating snack at the hotel on Friday nights, and a whole lot more.

Michigan State Recap - COOP | WUW 459 Oct 02, 2023

Show notes

The boys sit down to recap the Michigan State game. It was an ugly win in a blacked out Kinnick night time environment that saw more struggles on Offense, a good game from the Defense, and a well timed, familiar, elite Special Teams day. We discuss the Cade Mcnamara injury and what that means moving forward, how we thought Deacon Hill faired being thrust into that situation, and if a healthy Deacon is better than a hurt Cade. We talk about Coop being HIM and basically keeping us alive. We talk big picture looking forward to the rest of the season and why games like Saturday are likely going to be the result of almost every outing this year. Play calling comes up as always, and a whole lot more.

Penn State Recap - PANIC | WUW 457 Sep 25, 2023

Show notes

The boys break down, or rather mourn, the absolute dog walking the Hawks took over the weekend. You will not find answers to Iowa's problems in this podcast, only speculations and opinions on what is going wrong for the Iowa, how we can fix whatever is still fixable, what the rest of the season will look like and more. We talk about the times we got beat the worst, the historic stats from the abyss that were spawned from this game, why the snowball effect took place and our Defense is still a bright spot, and some other topics. We do our betting recap of the weekend, and present a brand new Gary the Intern Top 25.

Show notes

Today the guys preview the big matchup of the season. Iowa heads into a matchup against the Nittany Lions where both teams are 3-0 and inside the Top 25. Iowa has taken the last 2 matchups against Penn St but down some starters, we discuss what it will take to keep this game close and have a chance in a game that features a 2 touchdown spread. We discuss the crazy white out experience as both a player and a fan, and how that could go poorly or be used to the Hawks advantage. We also talk AI deep fakes of Coaches Brian Ferentz and Matt Campbell, The Roman Empire, and finish with our Ward's Winners segment of the week.

Western Michigan Recap - STABLE | WUW 455 Sep 18, 2023

Show notes

The boys sit down to recap the game from Saturday as the Hawks took down the Broncos 41-10. This game left people with podcasts a lot to talk about as it was the first time this season that Iowa eclipsed 25 points and looked decent on Offense, the first time the line has opened up significant holes in the run game, and the first time the Defense has had uncharacteristic breakdowns in coverage as well. We discuss Cade Mac playing a bit erratic, missing open receivers, forcing throws that turned into interceptions, and holding on to the ball to long taking unnecessary shots. We talk the stable of RBs the Hawks are wielding, the injury to Lachey and what that means for the TE room, and more. Special Teams gave the Hawks a spark and we discuss the improvement week to week in that phase of the game, and Kev gives some Xs and Ox look into the Defensive side of the ball.
