    Voices of Your Village

Let’s get real, this whole raising tiny humans thing is wild. That’s why I created a place where parents, caregivers, teachers, and experts come together to create the modern parenting village. We can support one another on this crazy journey so it doesn’t have to be this hard.

Welcome back to the podcast villagers! This week I had the pleasure of chatting with Courtney Burg about codependency. This is something that so many of us grew up with, and now find ourselves as adults doing things like people pleasing, struggling with setting and holding boundaries, or worrying about what other people think. We chat about ways to rewrite those patterns from childhood so that you can give your kids a different toolbox.

On today's episode I dive into a crucial aspect to our overall regulation, routines. We'll go into why they are so important and what the differences are between routines and schedules. 164 - A deep dive into neurodiversity with OT, Rachel Coley Mar 18, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome back village! This week I got to sit down with another brilliant OT to talk what neurodiversity means, what the sensory systems are and what it could look like if every single one of us knew how our sensory systems worked. How could life be different if we knew what was helpful for us for regulation, what pulled from our withdrawals so that we we're able to self-regulate and then co-regulate with kids and learn about their nervous system.

I love Rachel's take on neurodiversity and I hope you enjoy this episode as much as I did!

163 - The importance of early intervention Mar 11, 2021
    Show notes

On this episode of the podcast I got to sit down with Amira Johnson, an OT working in early intervention, and we got to dive into why early intervention is such a gift. She breaks down why it is so important, when you might want to look into it as well as where the gaps are in the current system. This episode is so important because giving parents and kids these tools before age 3 can be such a game changer! And I was so glad to get to talk about this with Amira Johnson because the OT perspective on this topic is one that I truly cherish.

    160 - REBROADCAST - Self care in motherhood Feb 18, 2021
    Show notes

Welcome back to another episode, in this rebroadcast of an old favorite, I sat down with Bryce of the instagram handle, Mombraintherapist, her practice specializes in helping moms on this journey. We chat about the social norms and the cultural context around self care and the martyrdom that often comes with motherhood. In our village we strive to be equal and inclusive, and we also want to acknowledge spaces where there is social programming and certain cultural norms and this is one of those. Self care in parenthood is so important. And there needs to be specific discussions on what this looks like in motherhood. I’m really excited to share this important conversation with you all again, as self care is the basis of showing up for others.
