Lindsay Clancy Case: What the Toxicology Screen Found in Her Blood and Urine Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

Three witnesses, one clear throughline: what was documented at the scene, and what was actually in Lindsay Clancy's system. Clancy, 34, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, is on trial for strangling her three children β€” 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan β€” with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. She faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and attorney Kevin Reddington is arguing insanity, built on severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Trooper Johnathon O'Loughlin testified first, detailing the photographs, drawings, and notes he took cataloguing items of interest β€” the groundwork for everything that followed. Then the lab took over. Hillary Griffiths of the Crime Lab's toxicology unit testified to which drugs were actually present in Clancy's blood at the time. Lisa Yelle, who worked toxicology at the lab when this happened, described the "general unknown screens" run on both blood and urine β€” panels that check for hundreds of substances and come back simply detected or not-detected. It's about as unemotional as testimony gets, and that's exactly why it carries weight.

For a defense built on overmedication, this is the testimony that either backs the theory up or forces a harder conversation. Prosecutors Jennifer Sprague and Shanan Buckingham are letting the lab work do the talking. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and is now paralyzed from the waist down. The trial continues before Judge William F. Sullivan in Plymouth Superior Court.

Nancy Guthrie, Kohberger, Wells β€” THIS Is What They Share Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

Nancy Guthrie, Bryan Kohberger, Nolan Wells β€” three cases where the system failed and the families are doing the work. Retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer examines all three in a single conversation: the Pima County sheriff's inability to accurately describe his own case's only conviction, Kohberger's petition to undo four sworn confessions using language borrowed from a book, and the Mississippi medical examiner whose track record on police-involved deaths should concern anyone waiting for Nolan Wells' autopsy results. The connective tissue is institutional failure. The question is who answers for it.

Lindsay Clancy Case: Crime Lab's Hartnett Testifies to Collecting Clancy's Own Blood Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

Forensic testimony took center stage this week in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children β€” 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan β€” with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She's pleaded not guilty, with attorney Kevin Reddington building an insanity defense around severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Maureen Hartnett, a technician with the Massachusetts State Police Crime Lab, told the court about the evidence she collected both at the Summer Street home and directly from Lindsay Clancy β€” including blood evidence drawn from the defendant. This is the kind of testimony that rarely trends, but it's the scaffolding underneath everything the toxicologists and experts will say later. Every claim about what was or wasn't in Clancy's system traces back to a moment like this one β€” someone in gloves, logging a sample, starting a chain of custody nobody can afford to break.

Prosecutors Jennifer Sprague and Shanan Buckingham are methodically assembling that chain. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and remains paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan, where he's spoken publicly about her mental health. The trial continues before Judge William F. Sullivan in Plymouth Superior Court and is expected to run several more weeks.

Why Lindsay Clancy's 'Best Day' Is Now Evidence Against Her Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

The prosecution told the jury something in its first week that reframes the entire case. Lindsay Clancy was having one of her best days. She built a snowman with her children. She texted normally. And the state says that is the evidence β€” not of recovery, but of rational capacity.Bob Motta of Defense Diaries joins Tony Brueski to work through the prosecution's argument at Plymouth Superior Court. They cover the seven-minute 911 call that shook the courtroom, the fourteen-second phone call where Lindsay sounded normal after, and the prosecution's claim that visiting multiple providers was not desperation but doctor shopping. ADA Buckingham opened by telling the jury that people with mental illness are held responsible for crimes every day.Motta breaks down whether that argument survives once the defense puts a psychiatrist on the stand β€” or whether the prosecution has already made the medical testimony irrelevant.Tony Brueski and criminal defense attorney Bob Motta of Defense Diaries.

Lindsay Clancy Almost Died That Same Night Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

While prosecutors in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial argue she faked her injuries, a Duxbury police officer confirmed on the stand that a Code Blue was called for her hospital room at Brigham and Women's. The officer spent sixteen hours watching Clancy lie sedated and motionless. She never said a word.

Day 4 of testimony at Plymouth Superior Court started with the jury touring the Duxbury house at 47 Summer Street. They went through in groups of six β€” the basement where Patrick Clancy found the children, the upstairs bedroom where blood was found on the floor, the bed, the walls, and the windowsill, and the second-story window prosecutors say Lindsay jumped from. The judge overruled the current homeowner's objection to the visit.

A detective testified about meeting Clancy at South Shore Hospital, where she was unconscious with lacerations across her neck and wrists. Defense attorney Kevin Reddington showed photographs of blood throughout the bedroom and a knife on the nightstand. Then ER physicians described treating Dawson Clancy, three years old, for forty minutes before declaring him dead β€” and getting eight-month-old Callan's heart beating again only to find no brain activity. Callan died at Boston Children's Hospital.

Clancy is charged with three counts of first-degree murder. Her defense argues postpartum psychosis made her unable to appreciate the wrongfulness of her actions. The trial continues Monday.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: Trooper Details Exact Pill Counts Found in Duxbury Kitchen Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

A stipulation, a surgeon, and a state trooper with a pill count β€” that was the docket today in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial. Clancy, 34, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, is accused of strangling her three children β€” 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan β€” with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. She faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and her attorney Kevin Reddington is building an insanity defense around severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Clancy agreed to stipulate to a set of uncontested facts today, which is really just a way of saying: the prosecution doesn't have to drag a parade of chain-of-custody witnesses through the courtroom to prove things nobody's arguing about.

Dr. Cristina Carpio of South Shore Hospital testified about treating Clancy for the spinal injury she sustained in the fall that followed the killings β€” the injury that left her paralyzed from the waist down. Then Massachusetts State Trooper Joseph Rabbitt described the scene inside the Clancy home that night, focusing on the medication bottles in the kitchen. He testified that Patrick Clancy brought more bottles into the house in February, and gave the jury specific numbers on how much medication remained in each one.

Every detail here is doing work for one side or the other. The defense needs those medication numbers. The prosecution needs the jury to remember there was a house, a kitchen, and a routine before there was a tragedy.

Patrick Clancy, out running errands when it happened, has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court.

Why Bryan Kohberger Believes He Can Undo His Guilty Plea Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

Bryan Kohberger pled guilty to four counts of first-degree murder, told a judge under oath he did it, received four life sentences β€” and is now claiming a book led him to evidence that proves otherwise. His petition cites "clumps of hair" from Ethan Chapin's hand, a phrase that appears only in a retired FBI agent's book and nowhere in the case record. Jennifer Coffindaffer examines the collision between what Kohberger claims and what the forensic evidence shows, including a defense expert's testing that matched the hair back to the victim. The conversation also covers whether Anne Taylor would end her own career to give Kohberger a path forward, and what it means for the Goncalves, Mogen, Kernodle, and Chapin families that the finality they were promised is already unraveling.

Nancy Guthrie’s Sheriff NEVER Verified the Only Arrest Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

The only conviction in the Nancy Guthrie case is for fake ransom texts β€” and the sheriff running the investigation publicly stated the wrong sentence. Retired FBI agent Jennifer Coffindaffer examines the gap between what Sheriff Nanos told the public about Derrick Callella's disposition and what the plea agreement actually reads. From there, the conversation moves to the complete communication failure between the FBI and Pima County, Savannah Guthrie's new video plea and the pointed language that suggests she knows something the rest of us don't, and an assault near Nancy's neighborhood with a suspect matching the porch figure's description. Coffindaffer brings twenty-eight years of FBI experience to a case that, six months in, has produced no named suspect and no arrest.

Why Arianna Jones' Date Kept Driving To The Desert Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

Before Domonic Rodolico knocked on Arianna Jones' door for their first date, his phone had already been pinging in a remote desert area near Lake Pleasant, Arizona. Multiple times. He lingered for twenty-five minutes on one trip. Investigators would later find concrete bags, latex gloves, and burial equipment at the same spot where cadaver dogs discovered Arianna's remains on July 11 β€” alongside two Harkins movie theater souvenir cups from the date she didn't survive.

Arianna Bailey Jones was twenty-one and a mother of a two-year-old son. She'd spent her childhood in foster care and had only reunited with her biological mother three years earlier. She was doing the thing she'd always wanted β€” building a family. On July 5, she went to the movies with a guy she met on Snapchat. Her phone went dark in the desert forty-five minutes after the movie ended. Rodolico's phone left the area ten minutes later.

When arrested, Rodolico told police a story about two masked attackers. Then changed it. Then admitted it wasn't true. He offered a third version he couldn't explain. The affidavit says he showed no remorse and seemed to think this was just a missing person case. He's charged with first-degree premeditated murder, held on two million dollars bond, and denies any involvement. Arianna's mother is calling for the death penalty. This is the full case β€” first time we're bringing it to you.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: Inside the Evidence Trail β€” Blood Vials, Chain of Custody, and a Search Warrant Aug 04, 2026
    Show notes

Massachusetts State Police testimony dominated the courtroom today in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children β€” 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan β€” with exercise bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She has pleaded not guilty and is mounting an insanity defense, with attorney Kevin Reddington arguing she was in the grip of severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication at the time of the killings.

Trooper Mark Farioli testified he collected six blood vials and a urine sample from Clancy at the hospital, executed under a search warrant β€” the kind of evidence collection that doesn't happen unless investigators are already building a case. Trooper Leah O'Connell, who worked as a forensic evidence tech at the time, walked the jury through how that evidence was logged and moved through the chain of custody, the unglamorous paperwork trail that's supposed to keep a case from falling apart on a technicality. Trooper John Santos testified about executing the search warrant on the Clancy home itself, where investigators found books, workbooks, and pamphlets about postpartum depression and prescription medications β€” material the defense may lean on, and material prosecutors will likely frame differently.

None of it is dramatic on its face. All of it is foundational. Prosecutors are expected to argue Clancy understood the nature of her actions despite the defense's mental-health claims. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted to take her own life by jumping from a second-story window, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out of the home running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial, underway in Plymouth Superior Court, is expected to last several weeks.
