Lindsay Clancy Trial: A "Normal Day" Testimony Collides With a Damning Old Facebook Post Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

Two witnesses, two completely different pictures of Lindsay Clancy — that's what jurors got in Plymouth Superior Court this week in the trial of the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan, with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy is facing three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She's pleaded not guilty, with defense attorney Kevin Reddington arguing she was gripped by severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication when it happened.

Kyle Carney, a friend of Patrick Clancy's, opened the day describing January 24 as ordinary — a good day, nothing that hinted at what was coming. Then Massachusetts State Police Trooper Andrew Chiachio took over, and the testimony got a lot more procedural and a lot more pointed. He walked the jury through pulling surveillance video from a CVS and Three V Restaurant near the scene, then described a search warrant executed six months after the killings to collect possible DNA evidence from outside the house. A second warrant went after Facebook, where investigators found a May 2021 post from a parenting support group in which Clancy wrote that every day with Dawson felt like a fight. Reddington, on cross, got Chiachio to concede that despite the digging, investigators never found any evidence Clancy had actually abused her son. Jurors were dismissed once both witnesses finished.

Prosecutors are expected to argue Clancy knew exactly what she was doing that day, mental-health defense or not. She allegedly attempted suicide afterward by jumping from a second-story window and remains paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick, was running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues for several more weeks.

Bryan Kohberger's Statement Said Everything Except WHAT Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

He wrote about justice. He wrote about truth. He wrote about closure, innocence, and love. He mentioned the public, the state, his family, and his supporters. He called the case against him a work of fiction and invited the death penalty back.

Kaylee Goncalves. Madison Mogen. Xana Kernodle. Ethan Chapin. Their names do not appear.

Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott breaks down the full statement with Tony Brueski — what the language reveals about Kohberger's psychology and what the absence says louder than anything he wrote.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: Two Witnesses, One Question — Did Anyone See This Coming? Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

The Lindsay Clancy murder trial heard from two people who knew her well today — her longtime friend and her father-in-law — and neither account made the case any easier to sit with. Clancy, 34, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, stands accused of strangling her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. She's pleaded not guilty to three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. Her attorney, Kevin Reddington, is arguing insanity, pointing to severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Amy Bevins, a licensed behavior analyst for autistic children and a friend of Clancy's for 29 years, said Dawson's delivery had been hard on her — but that in the days right before the killings, Lindsay seemed hopeful. Under cross-examination, Bevins acknowledged the two had exchanged texts multiple times about how difficult the prescribed medications were to manage, and that afterward, on the recommendation of Clancy's providers, they stopped talking about the kids entirely.

Christopher W. Clancy, Patrick's father, followed with a portrait of a daughter-in-law who doted on Callan but showed clear frustration with Dawson. He described sleepless nights and at least one ER visit, but told jurors that overall, Lindsay seemed to be in good spirits. It's the kind of testimony that doesn't hand either side a clean win — a woman who looked fine to the people closest to her, right up until she wasn't.

Prosecutors maintain Clancy understood her actions. She allegedly attempted suicide afterward by jumping from a second-story window and is now paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick, was out running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court and is expected to run several weeks.

Did The Prosecution's Witness Just Help Lindsay Clancy? Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

The prosecution called Elaine Rossi to prove Lindsay Clancy could control what she revealed and to whom. She'd told the nanny about her postpartum struggles but never mentioned urges to harm herself. Selective. Compartmentalized. That was the play. But Rossi also told the jury she was a wonderful mom who loved her kids, described the children by name and personality, and said "I loved Lindsay" from the witness stand. The prosecution's witness gave the defense one of the most powerful moments of the first seven days.Earlier in the morning, forensic testimony moved fast through Plymouth Superior Court. DNA evidence matched each child to a specific exercise band. A toxicologist confirmed that Seroquel levels were elevated but far below toxic. A physician assistant called Lindsay's neck injuries superficial — but confirmed under cross that she was critically ill. And the prosecution's lead toxicologist admitted the blood levels alone don't tell the entire story. The stipulation from the day before is compressing the trial. Chain-of-custody witnesses eliminated. The defense phase — postpartum psychosis experts, psychiatric evaluations, and medical records from providers now facing their own malpractice lawsuits — is approaching faster than anyone expected.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: Teachers, Nurse, Therapist Testify — "A Zombie" Detail Emerges Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

Four witnesses testified today in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She has pleaded not guilty and is mounting an insanity defense, with attorney Kevin Reddington arguing she was in the grip of severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication at the time of the killings.

Susan Bertolo, a former teacher at Learning Sprouts, testified that Cora needed the bathroom more often than usual and, at one point, was upset that her mother was in the hospital. Fellow Learning Sprouts teacher Stephanie Williams told the court she saw no signs of depression in her interactions with Clancy. Then came the more complicated testimony. Mass General labor and delivery nurse Andrea Hennigan — who has no formal PPD training but has screened patients for it — said she socialized with Clancy and that Clancy told her she was worried about returning to work because of insomnia. On cross, Hennigan acknowledged Clancy had numerous doctor's appointments and had been placed on multiple medications with side effects, while still describing her as a loving, attentive mother. Marriage and family therapist Bethany DeCollibus, a friend of Clancy's, testified Clancy seemed more tired after Callan was born and never appeared suicidal — but told her she felt like "a zombie."

Prosecutors are expected to argue Clancy understood the nature of her actions despite the defense's mental-health claims. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted to take her own life by jumping from a second-story window, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out of the home running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial, underway in Plymouth Superior Court, is expected to last several weeks.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: Autopsy Testimony Confirms Callan's Cause of Death as Pediatrician Defends Her Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

The medical examiner opened today's testimony in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy, the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation. She's pleaded not guilty, with attorney Kevin Reddington arguing an insanity defense built on severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Dr. Kimberley Springer walked the courtroom through the autopsy of the youngest victim, Callan. Cause of death: complications from mechanical asphyxiation, strangulation by ligature. There's no softening that, and the prosecution didn't try to.

What followed complicated the picture rather than simplifying it. Pediatrician Dr. Lindsay Rosshart testified she'd examined all three children and never saw signs of postpartum depression in Clancy. Under cross-examination, she went on record saying Clancy was a good mom. That's the kind of testimony that doesn't fit neatly into either side's narrative, and it's exactly why the defense wanted it in front of the jury.

A preschool teacher from Learning Sprouts, Susan Fraone, rounded out the day with a smaller detail — drop-offs had been difficult for Dawson. It's a minor moment in a trial full of much larger ones, but the defense may lean on it as evidence something was off in the household before anyone recognized how badly.

Prosecutors are still expected to argue Clancy understood what she was doing that day. After the killings, she allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and is now paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court.

What Nancy Guthrie's Kidnapper Did After Savannah Said She'd Pay Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

Savannah Guthrie went on camera and told the kidnapper the family understood his demands and would pay. Four days later, the second note arrived. It did not raise the price. It did not negotiate. It said Nancy was dead, apologized, and walked away from everything.

Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott breaks down the second note with Tony Brueski — what a public response from the family did to this man, whether the apology is genuine or performative, and what it tells you that he never says where she is.

What Kouri Richins’ Best Friend Never Saw Coming Aug 06, 2026
    Show notes

She gave Kouri Richins forty-five thousand dollars. It was supposed to be a down payment on a home. A rent-to-own deal through Kouri’s real estate company. She moved her family in and started paying rent, believing she was building toward ownership. According to prosecutors, not a dollar of that money went where it was supposed to go. Kouri allegedly used it to cover her company’s debts. The lender foreclosed. The friend’s family lost the house.

That friend isn’t the only person prosecutors say Kouri Richins used and discarded on her way to the murder of her husband Eric. There are twenty-six felony fraud charges pending against her in a separate Summit County case — mortgage fraud, money laundering, forgery, bad checks, communications fraud, and a charge alleging an ongoing criminal pattern. The murder conviction already put her away for life. These charges are about documenting exactly who she was to every person who crossed her path.

Prosecutors allege she stole a quarter million from Eric’s home without his knowledge, forged his documents for loans, and ran a real estate operation that was millions in debt with no way out. They allege the prenuptial agreement contained a single clause that made Eric’s death the only scenario where she could access his business. And they allege Eric secretly created a trust to block her — a move she didn’t discover until it was too late.

This episode traces the fraud from the first stolen dollar to the twenty-six charges and the restitution fight still ahead.

Alex Murdaugh's Retrial Hinges on a Test Prosecutors Tried to Block Aug 05, 2026
    Show notes

The fight over Alex Murdaugh's retrial is being shaped months before the first witness takes the stand — and at the center of it is a DNA sample recovered from Maggie Murdaugh's fingernails. SLED tested it years ago, identified it as belonging to an unknown male with no connection to the family, and according to defense filings never pursued it further. The defense wants the remaining reserve sample sent to Othram, a forensic genetic genealogy laboratory that has helped solve cases standard law enforcement DNA testing couldn't crack — including helping to identify Bryan Kohberger in the Idaho student murders. The state opposed the request. Prosecutors argued that trace DNA under fingernails can transfer through casual contact and that Maggie had her nails done the day she was killed. The defense counters that SLED's testing method already failed to produce an identification and that running the same method again risks destroying the last of the evidence before a more advanced lab can try. The defense's filing also accuses SLED of a pattern of mishandling biological evidence in this case — pointing to allegations that exculpatory test results on a key piece of evidence were suppressed by SLED's own forensic leadership and the evidence itself was destroyed. Judge Debra McCaslin has set the retrial for April 2027. The DNA question is expected to be addressed at the August 14th pretrial hearing.
