Kirsten Bridegan Defied a Judge in Her Husband's Murder Case Aug 25, 2026
    Show notes

Prosecutors handed a Duval County jury a chart on August 21 mapping every month of contact between Mario Fernandez and Henry Tenon across 2022. It starts at 26 communications in January, peaks at 37 in February, the month Jared Bridegan was ambushed in front of his toddler, and lands on zero by August. A 27-minute phone call the day after police published photos of the suspect truck sits inside that slide, and so does a factory reset that erased Fernandez's device six months after the killing. The state told jurors the reset phone never carried another Tenon message.

The other half of the day happened without the jury. At 9:30 that morning, Judge London Kite stopped the trial because Jared's widow, Kirsten Bridegan, refused to surrender her own phone for extraction by Shanna Gardner's defense. The subpoena reaches her messages with Gardner's minor children, who are on the witness lists, along with a witness known in court papers as E.F. and the Justice for Jared social accounts. Kite ordered Kirsten to explain why she shouldn't be held in contempt; an appellate court froze everything by late afternoon. The victim's widow and the man accused of arranging his death spent the same day fighting over the same kind of evidence, with very different results.

There's more the jury didn't see. Prosecutors auditioned a jailhouse witness who claims Fernandez called the killing his own idea, a claim the defense labeled unworthy of belief and the judge has yet to rule on. The defense also scored real points in open court, because the analyst who built the chart agreed gaps implicate no one, and $10,000 in checks between the men carried memo lines about landscaping and roof work. Fernandez says he is innocent of every allegation. The verdict may come down to how this jury reads all that silence.

Keffe D Told Detectives What Tupac's Death Meant to Him Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

Five days into the Tupac Shakur murder trial, the case against Duane "Keffe D" Davis is built almost entirely from his own recordings. The newest one played for jurors contains his unfiltered reaction to learning Tupac was dead. This recap covers the September 2009 interview in full. Davis describes a search that began at Club 662 after the MGM Grand beating of Orlando Anderson. He describes a Glock from a secret compartment, a handoff to the back seat, and five or six shots he says Orlando fired at Suge Knight. Davis even asked the Las Vegas detective to step out of the room partway through, continuing his account with only the LAPD detective and his own lawyer present. The television chapter got its own testimony. Davis took money for a docuseries, and a sealed federal proffer recording traveled from investigators to a director's editing bay. A defamation letter from Sean Combs' attorney over a related documentary never turned into a lawsuit. Combs has denied any role in the killing, has never been a suspect, and is charged with nothing here. Friday closed with Davis rising to accuse the prosecutor of ruining his life. The trial picks back up Monday morning, and there's more tape to come.

Lindsay Clancy’s Own Witnesses Said THIS About Her Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

The prosecution called more than seventy witnesses over fourteen days at Plymouth Superior Court. Under cross-examination, the witnesses who personally knew Lindsay Clancy all described the same person: a wonderful, nurturing mother who always wanted a family. Patrick Clancy said it on the stand. Her friends confirmed it. Former co-workers echoed it. The defense didn’t need to call a single character witness.
The defense’s forensic psychologist testified that Lindsay told him a male voice ordered her to kill her children, and that she had no appreciation for the wrongfulness of what she did. Her hospital records from days after the killings list “critically ill, postpartum psychosis.” A hospital psychiatrist testified she appeared calm and cooperative during the same period.
Lindsay’s mother told the jury that her daughter said the medication was destroying her mind and begged for help. The prosecution’s cross-examination response was to ask why the family didn’t intervene more aggressively.
Eric Faddis, defense attorney and former prosecutor, evaluates what the prosecution left this jury with and whether it’s enough.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: Forensic Psychologist Says It Wasn't Psychosis After All Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

The insanity defense in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial ran into its toughest witness yet today: Dr. Kirk Heilbrun, a forensic psychologist testifying for the prosecution. Clancy, 34, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, is accused of strangling her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. She faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and her attorney Kevin Reddington argues she was in the grip of severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication when it happened.

Heilbrun evaluated Clancy three years after the fact and testified that she tends to underreport or minimize her symptoms — an odd thing for a prosecution witness to concede, and worth noting he didn't downplay her suicide attempt at all. He called it serious, said she remains on one-to-one suicide watch at Tewksbury, and said she's still considered at risk today. Where he broke from the defense is on motive: he testified he doesn't think psychosis drove the killings — he thinks Clancy was trying to spare her children from suffering after she took her own life. He noted her symptoms appeared only during the offense, with no accompanying delusions, and that the voice repeating "this is your last chance" registers to him as intrusive thoughts rather than a command hallucination. He also flagged that her first words to her husband afterward were "I tried to kill myself" — not a reference to any voice.

It's the kind of testimony that doesn't need commentary to land. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: 180 Hours of Records Later, a Different Diagnosis Emerges Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

The prosecution's own rebuttal witness may have handed the defense some of its strongest material yet in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial. Forensic psychologist Dr. Kirk Heilbrun testified Monday about the months before Clancy allegedly strangled her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023 in Duxbury, Massachusetts. Clancy, 34, faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and her attorney Kevin Reddington is arguing severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Heilbrun began with a lesson in retention bias — the pull toward favoring whoever's paying for the evaluation — then detailed the scope of his own work: about 180 hours combing through police, medical, and court records plus surveillance footage, 10.5 hours testing and meeting with Clancy directly, and 1.5 hours of collateral interviews. His timeline was specific. Limited medical history and mild anxiety before September 2022. Worsening anxiety and depression after October 2022. By December 2022, intrusive and unwelcome thoughts about self-harm and, at times, harming the children — thoughts, he clarified, not hallucinations.

Then came the diagnostic contradiction: Heilbrun found no evidence in the records of mania or hypomania consistent with bipolar disorder, even though Tewksbury Hospital had Clancy diagnosed with bipolar disorder for three and a half years. His own conclusion was bipolar II. He closed by outlining the legal insanity standard — mental disease or defect, capacity to know right from wrong, and ability to control conduct. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and is now paralyzed from the waist down. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court.

Lindsay Clancy's Prosecutor Built the Case on Three Words Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

Prosecutors in the Lindsay Clancy trial called a psychiatrist to prove she was responsible for killing her three children. He built that opinion on something she told him: that she said "go to God" as she tightened an exercise band around each of their necks.

Dr. Avram Mack evaluated Clancy for the Plymouth County District Attorney in April 2026. He diagnosed major depression, found no evidence of psychosis or bipolar disorder before the killings, and said the killings were methodical and aimed at a goal. He also said Clancy told him she doubts the bipolar diagnosis she's being treated for at Tewksbury State Hospital.

The defense's final witness, Dr. Phillip Resnick, read the same words as delusion. He testified Clancy was obsessive about caring for her kids and believed, through psychotic thinking, that taking them to heaven with her was morally right. Resnick examined her in May 2023 and has worked roughly eighty cases involving parents accused of killing children.

Tony Brueski explains why the two experts cancel each other out and why Massachusetts puts the burden on the Commonwealth. He also argues that Mack's statement that psychosis doesn't automatically erase knowledge of right from wrong weakens the prosecution's month-long focus on whether Clancy was psychotic. Clancy has pleaded not guilty to three first-degree murder counts. Prosecutors allege premeditation. Mack's cross continues, with two more state experts expected before closing arguments.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: Prosecution Fights to Save Its Psychiatrist After Brutal Cross Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

The prosecution spent Monday's redirect trying to put Dr. Avram Mack back together after Kevin Reddington's cross-examination left him bruised in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy — the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan, with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and is mounting an insanity defense built on claims of severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Prosecutors used their redirect to walk Mack through something the defense hadn't dwelled on: that "postpartum onset" exists as a specifier within diagnoses like bipolar disorder and major depression, even if postpartum psychosis itself isn't a standalone DSM entry. It's a technical point, but it's the kind of technical point that can quietly undercut a defense theory without anyone raising their voice. Beyond that, the redirect stayed in the weeds — definitions of what "postpartum" actually covers clinically, more on Mack's qualifications, and other procedural cleanup. No bombshells here, just two sides fighting over the credibility of one witness inch by inch, Reddington working to keep the earlier damage intact, prosecutors working to patch it.

It's not the most cinematic day of testimony, but it matters — juries remember whether an expert held up under pressure, and this was the prosecution's chance to make sure Mack's opinion still counts for something. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: Defense Grills Prosecution Shrink Over Pay and Past Rejections Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

The Lindsay Clancy murder trial hit a rough patch Monday for the prosecution, as its own rebuttal witness, psychiatrist Dr. Avram Mack, spent hours under cross-examination from defense attorney Kevin Reddington. Clancy, 34, of Duxbury, Massachusetts, is accused of strangling her three children — 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan — with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. She faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and her attorneys are pursuing an insanity defense centered on severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Reddington didn't ease in. He started with prior cases where courts had ruled Mack unqualified to testify, then moved to money — Mack testified he pulls in several hundred thousand dollars a year doing expert witness work. Asked to define confirmatory bias and then asked point-blank if he'd shown it evaluating Clancy, Mack said no. He testified he met with Clancy in 2026, three years removed from the killings, having already reviewed defense records, DCF documentation, and medical history — the evaluation itself ran roughly eight hours across two doctors and multiple days, including a full day of testing. He also acknowledged the diagnostic split in the case: Drs. Heilbrun, Resnick, and Zeizel diagnosed bipolar 2, another doctor diagnosed bipolar 1, and postpartum psychosis, he noted, isn't a recognized DSM diagnosis at all.

Despite the rough cross, prosecutors are still expected to argue Clancy understood what she was doing regardless of her mental state. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window and is now paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court.

Lindsay Clancy Trial: Prosecution's Own Psychiatrist Gets Picked Apart on the Stand Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

Dr. Avram Mack, the psychiatrist prosecutors brought in to rebut the defense's insanity claim, spent Monday getting worked over by defense attorney Kevin Reddington in the murder trial of Lindsay Clancy — the Duxbury, Massachusetts mother accused of strangling her three children, 5-year-old Cora, 3-year-old Dawson, and 7-month-old Callan, with exercise resistance bands inside the family's Summer Street home on January 24, 2023. Clancy faces three counts of murder and three counts of strangulation, has pleaded not guilty, and is mounting an insanity defense built on claims of severe postpartum psychosis and psychiatric overmedication.

Reddington opened by dredging up prior cases where courts found Mack didn't have the credentials to testify — not exactly a confidence builder before he even got to the substance. Then came the number nobody likes saying out loud in a courtroom: several hundred thousand dollars a year, Mack's take from expert testimony work. Reddington had him define confirmatory bias, then asked if he had it evaluating Clancy. Mack said no. He testified he evaluated Clancy in 2026 — three years after the killings — armed beforehand with defense records, DCF files, and medical history, across two doctors and roughly eight hours of interviews plus testing. He also noted that Drs. Heilbrun, Resnick, and Zeizel landed on bipolar 2, another doctor said bipolar 1, and that postpartum psychosis isn't even in the DSM, so he wouldn't use the term as a diagnosis.

Prosecutors still need Mack's testimony to hold up despite the defense's mental-health claims. After the killings, Clancy allegedly attempted suicide by jumping from a second-story window, leaving her paralyzed from the waist down. Her husband, Patrick Clancy, was out running errands at the time and has since relocated to Manhattan. The trial continues in Plymouth Superior Court.

Lindsay Clancy’s Prosecutor Went After WHO In Court? Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

The prosecution rested its case against Lindsay Clancy after fourteen days and more than seventy witnesses at Plymouth Superior Court. During those three weeks, the Plymouth County DA’s office directed some of its sharpest cross-examination at Lindsay’s own family members.
The prosecutor asked Lindsay’s former mother-in-law whether she was aware that murder is a mortal sin in the Catholic faith. The judge struck the question. The prosecutor asked Lindsay’s mother why she never had her daughter committed after Lindsay disclosed intrusive thoughts about harming the children. The prosecution floated a theory that a defense psychologist coached Lindsay to claim she heard command voices — the investigator on the stand acknowledged no evidence supported it.
Opening statements described Lindsay as “controlling, meticulous, and manipulative” and accused her of faking the suicide attempt that left her paralyzed. The prosecution’s own treating psychiatrist saw Lindsay fourteen times without meeting her in person.
Eric Faddis, defense attorney and former prosecutor, evaluates whether the prosecution’s tactics are costing them credibility with the jury.
