Did Nolan Wellsโ€™ DA Blow Up His Own Evidence? Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

A joint forensic examination of Nolan Wellsโ€™ phone was agreed to by both the family and the DA. The plan was the Digital Forensics Lab at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, with experts from both sides. A month passed. No date was ever scheduled. Then the DA sent a letter giving the family 48 hours to surrender the device.
Nolanโ€™s mother had already accessed the phone before any forensic protocol existed. She and her sister opened his Snapchat accounts. Both were empty. The three friends from Horn Island voluntarily gave the FBI their phones. The family is holding onto Nolanโ€™s until they get written assurances on preservation, access, and return.
Snapchat purges data from its servers over time. The forensic window is shrinking. The state autopsy is sealed. A grand jury is waiting. And the phone that could tell the story of what happened on July 4 has been unexamined for six weeks.
Eric Faddis, defense attorney and former prosecutor, breaks down who is at fault and whether a grand jury can do its job without the data on that device.

Lindsay Clancy's Chaplain NEVER Told the Jury THIS Aug 24, 2026
    Show notes

Two people spent more time with Lindsay Clancy than anyone else connected to this case โ€” her psychiatrist, who saw her fourteen times by video call, and a hospital chaplain who has visited her roughly two hundred times over three years. Neither one ever wrote down the thing her defense now needs a jury to believe. The psychiatrist testified Clancy never appeared psychotic. The chaplain testified Clancy described a male voice ordering her to kill her three children and then herself โ€” but admitted under cross-examination that in two hundred visits, she never once put that voice in her notes.
That contradiction is now the center of the Lindsay Clancy murder trial out of Duxbury, Massachusetts. Once an insanity defense is raised, Massachusetts law shifts the burden onto prosecutors, who must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Clancy was criminally responsible when she killed her children with exercise bands. To win, the state needs jurors to decide the chaplain missed the most important disclosure of her career, or that Clancy built the story after she survived her own fall from a suicide attempt. The phone forensics complicate both theories โ€” searches for "symptoms of postpartum psychosis," a mapped route for her husband's errand, and a takeout order timed to clear him out of the house.
The defense says she was drowning in a medical system that kept changing her prescriptions without hearing her. The prosecution says the planning tells the real story. This episode breaks down what's left for the jury to decide before closing arguments, expected the week of August 24.

What Lindsay Clancy's Nurse Told The Jury Aug 23, 2026
    Show notes

The prosecution called more than seventy witnesses over fourteen days in the Lindsay Clancy murder trial โ€” and some of the most damaging testimony for their own case came from their own witness stand. Dr. Jennifer Tufts, who prescribed twelve of Lindsay's thirty medications through telehealth-only appointments, admitted she never met her patient in person and never requested records from another clinic treating Lindsay at the same time. When defense attorney Kevin Reddington asked her directly, she said no. "Seriously?" he replied, before reading her own chart notes back to her โ€” documentation of pressured speech, a possible mania symptom โ€” which she then told the jury she didn't stand behind. Criminal defense attorney Bob Motta and retired FBI behavioral analyst Robin Dreeke both sat through it, and Tony Brueski combines their courtroom breakdowns into one episode. Psychiatric nurse practitioners followed, describing Lindsay pleading to change medications that were making her condition worse โ€” while one nurse told prosecutors she had no concerns about postpartum psychosis at all. Patrick Clancy opened the prosecution's case, describing his wife's "best day" hours before the killings, then months of intrusive thoughts and a mounting list of prescriptions. This episode lays out what the jury actually heard from the Commonwealth's own witnesses, and whether it helped their case or handed the defense its argument.

Murdaugh's DNA Test Could Undo THIS Aug 23, 2026
    Show notes

There's DNA under Maggie Murdaugh's fingernails that's never been identified โ€” and an outside lab is about to get a shot at it. Judge Debra McCaslin ordered independent testing on the unknown male genetic material at an August 14 pretrial hearing, siding with defense arguments that SLED's own retesting method risked destroying the sample for good. Tony Brueski and retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer break down what happened in that Lexington County courtroom. McCaslin also pulled Alex Murdaugh's retrial entirely outside the 14th Judicial Circuit, pointing to the impossibility of seating an unbiased jury in a county Murdaugh's family effectively ran for three generations. She ruled the state can replay Murdaugh's own 2023 sworn testimony for the new jury, including his admission that he lied about being at the kennels the night his wife and son were killed. In a separate development, the defense told the court that weapons recovered in a recent Allendale County homicide may be ballistically linked to the Moselle murder weapons โ€” a claim prosecutor Creighton Waters said blindsided him despite his daily contact with SLED. McCaslin is now personally overseeing jury selection after questions surfaced about when Becky Hill's interference in the original trial actually started. Murdaugh's team is also asking the judge to void the murder charges over allegations a SLED agent fabricated grand jury evidence. Next hearing: November 14. Retrial: April 5, 2027.

What Patrick Clancy's Death Threats Say About Us Aug 23, 2026
    Show notes

Lindsay Clancy's murder trial has an unusual feature: everyone in the courtroom agrees on the facts. Her own defense attorney told the jury she killed her three children. Prosecutors agree. Patrick Clancy testified about what he found in their Duxbury home. The surveillance footage, the phone records, the 911 call all line up. And yet a massive online audience insists the real story is something else. Psychotherapist Shavaun Scott, author of Nightbird, talks with Tony Brueski in a two-part conversation about what's driving people to reject a case that both sides have already settled. She explains why a tragedy of this scale creates demand for a villain bigger than a mother in psychosis โ€” and why disproving a theory, point by point, tends to make it spread faster instead of dying out. Then she turns to the people posting the theories themselves, who describe real symptoms: shaking hands, lost sleep, rage over a family they've never met. Scott explains how the case functions as a container for something that has nothing to do with Duxbury โ€” and what that's costing the people it's pointed at. Patrick Clancy, who buried three children and testified about finding them, is now getting death threats for a version of events neither the prosecution nor the defense has ever argued. Scott closes on what it would take to bring someone back from a conclusion they've already decided is true.

Jared Bridegan's Killer Backed Out on THIS Aug 23, 2026
    Show notes

Henry Tenon confessed to murdering Jared Bridegan and signed a deal because of it โ€” second-degree murder, a fifteen-year floor, and testimony against the two people accused of putting him up to it. Then, in February 2026, he stood in front of a judge and backed out. He wants a trial. The confession the state was counting on is no longer his to give away.
That leaves Mario Fernandez, Tenon's former landlord, fighting first-degree murder and solicitation charges largely on circumstantial ground. An FBI agent traced Tenon's phone on a Saturday eighteen days before the murder, tracking a drive from Fernandez's rental toward Bridegan's neighborhood and his kids' gymnastics facility before ending in Jacksonville Beach โ€” Fernandez's own phone stayed put the whole time. Prosecutors call it a practice run; the defense calls it a renovation trip, with video of Fernandez meeting contractors at that property. No DNA, no fingerprints, no surveillance ties Fernandez to the truck used in the ambush, and detectives admit the property where that truck was found was never searched.
Three checks from Fernandez to Tenon, ten thousand dollars total, are dated about six weeks after the killing, marked "landscaping" and "Kickstarter Good Luck!!" โ€” the defense argues one might actually say "roofing." A prosecutor also acknowledged a second, still-uncharged person was at the scene that night.
Bridegan was thirty-three, a father of four, gunned down on a dark road after stopping to move a tire, his two-year-old daughter in the back seat. Shanna Gardner's trial starts in September, Tenon's in 2027, and Bridegan's widow is preparing to sit through all of it.

Why Lindsay Clancy's Voice Was Never Challenged Aug 23, 2026
    Show notes

Nobody coordinated Lindsay Clancy's care. Four providers treated her in the months before her children died, and not one of them ever spoke to the others. Her nurse practitioner had no idea she'd seen her psychiatrist fourteen times in four months. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer and retired FBI behavioral analyst Robin Dreeke join Tony Brueski to break down what that gap in care meant โ€” and what the jury at Plymouth Superior Court has heard since. Clancy searched "hallucinations" on her phone five days before the killings. A postpartum program turned her away for already being overmedicated. Afterward, she jumped from a second-story window and is now permanently paralyzed; she also slashed her neck and wrists and went into cardiac arrest in the ICU. The prosecution rested after fourteen days and more than seventy witnesses. The defense opened that same afternoon with three: Lindsay's mother, her sister, and a former coworker. Patrick testified that Lindsay described hearing a man's voice telling her to act โ€” prosecutors have never disputed she heard it, only argued she could have resisted it. None of the prosecution's own psychiatrists or nurse practitioners had ever treated a patient with postpartum psychosis before this trial. This episode walks through the missed coordination, the lopsided witness count, and what's left for the defense to prove.

Keffe D Says Suge Knight Won't Even Do THIS Aug 22, 2026
    Show notes

Marion "Suge" Knight was driving the car Tupac Shakur died in. He's the one man who could confirm or destroy Duane "Keffe D" Davis's version of what happened on September 7, 1996 โ€” and by most accounts, he's not talking.
Davis, the man prosecutors say organized Shakur's murder, told police in a 2008 interview โ€” under a promise that nothing he said could be used against him โ€” that he rode in the front seat of a white Cadillac that night, spotted Knight's BMW with Shakur inside, and passed a gun to his nephew, Orlando Anderson, in the back seat. He says if the cars had lined up differently, he would have fired the shots himself. Anderson is the man prosecutors say pulled the trigger. Shakur died six days later at 25.
Knight has never been charged in the case. He's spent years in prison on an unrelated conviction, and reporting around the trial suggests he has no interest in helping either side make its case now. That leaves jurors with one man's account of what happened inside a car carrying two of the most famous names in hip-hop โ€” and no way to hear it from the man sitting next to Shakur when the shots came.
Davis was indicted in September 2023, has pleaded not guilty, and faces life in prison. His defense says the state's story is fiction. Prosecutors say Davis is the one person who could never stay quiet about what he did.
Hidden Killers covers what's on the record, what isn't, and why the man with the clearest view of that night may be the last person willing to describe it.

Patrick Clancy Testified He Wasn't THIS Aug 22, 2026
    Show notes

Patrick Clancy has never been charged with anything in his children's deaths. That hasn't stopped the internet from trying him anyway โ€” twice, from two different directions. Retired FBI behavioral analyst Robin Dreeke and psychotherapist Shavaun Scott join Tony Brueski to break down the online case against a man neither prosecutors nor Lindsay's own defense team has ever pointed at. On TikTok, testimony about a blood stain on a windowsill turned into a fully staged theory by the same night: Patrick pushing Lindsay out the window. New photos of his second wife got lined up next to old photos of Lindsay โ€” same hair, same build โ€” and a wedding three years after the deaths became proof of a plan. On a separate front, the case has split almost entirely by gender. Men on X want Lindsay punished as severely as possible and ignore the psychosis defense outright. Women online have gone the other way, branding Patrick a narcissist and repeatedly invoking Chris Watts by name. Patrick told the jury directly he wasn't married to a monster. Dreeke and Scott walk through how a medical symptom Lindsay described got reread online as evidence against her husband, why his remarriage reads as guilt to two completely different audiences, and what it does to a grieving father to be convicted by an internet that was never in the courtroom and never heard the evidence.

What Mangione Has Beaten Three Times Now Aug 22, 2026
    Show notes

Luigi Mangione confessed to killing Brian Thompson. In the same breath, he pleaded guilty to stalking โ€” not murder. No deal was cut to get there. He simply admitted, on the record, that he stalked the UnitedHealthcare CEO to an investor conference, posed as an investor controlling tens of billions of dollars to learn exactly where Thompson would be, 3D-printed the gun he used, and traveled to New York with the intent to kill. He told the judge he understood it was illegal. He showed no remorse. He never referred to Thompson as a husband or a father โ€” only as a target. Thompson's wife, Paulette, sat in the front row and cried while he described it. Hours later, his defense team filed to dismiss the separate state murder case on double jeopardy grounds, with that trial's jury selection already scheduled for September 8. Retired FBI Special Agent Jennifer Coffindaffer joins Tony Brueski to break down what it means when a confessed killer is convicted of the lesser charge, and what his legal team is trying to pull off next. This is a man who has now beaten a terrorism charge and beaten the federal death penalty โ€” and may be about to beat a state murder trial too. Federal sentencing is set for December 18. Guidelines call for twenty-four to thirty years; prosecutors say they want life. Mangione is twenty-eight. The episode lays out the confession, the legal strategy, and the gap between what he admitted and what he's actually been convicted of.
