Ep. 382: The Iron Claw + The Legacy of the Von Erichs Jan 13, 2024

Show notes

Welcome back Darnell Mitchell for the second time to Tights and Fights!

And welcome friends to spinning-their-wheels season, the time of year just before WrestleMania where everyone pretends that they have a chance to win the Royal Rumble and have a title match at the WWE’s biggest show of the year.

Jinder Mahal is getting a lot of attention, both on TV and in his title match; but is it possible that he might actually deliver despite whatever misgivings people may have about him getting this spot?

Plus, Darnell is a professional fashion expert so let’s get his take on Scarlett’s new look and the suit game of the Street Profits and Bobby Lashley.

The Main Event

For years, the story of the Von Erichs was one of the most tragic in wrestling. They were one of wrestling's most famous families before nearly all of them tragically died in rapid succession. Now more people than ever will know their story with the release of the film The Iron Claw.

The Three Count

Darnell put over R-Truth working with the Judgment Day.

Lindsey put over the WWE’s Live tour stopping in Los Angeles.

Danielle put over Tony Atlas on Twitter.

Hosted by Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Ep. 381: The Rock vs. Roman (?) with Darnell Mitchell Jan 06, 2024

Show notes

Welcome to the first episode of Tights and Fights in the year 2024!

We’re joined once again by our old pal Darnell Mitchell. He has a lot of experience booking wrestling shows as well as watching as a fan. He’ll explain how his fandom evolved after the pandemic.

Darnell, Hal and Danielle will take a look at the first major news of the year: the dismissal of Kevin Dunn from WWE. He’s one of the company's longest tenured producers who many wrestlers have some intense feelings about.

Plus the team takes a look at WWE Day 1, a night that featured a lot of women’s wrestling.

The Main Event

After years of ghosting WWE, The Rock is finally back for more than a brief one-off: He all but confirmed that he's got his sights set on the Tribal Chief Roman Reigns.

The Three Count

Darnell put over Toni Storm in the AEW World’s End media scrum.

Danielle put over the Maximum Male Models recounting a journey through France.

Hal put over Cody paying for The Wrestle Club to WrestleMania (hopefully not Scott’s Tots Style).

Hosted by Hal Lublin and Danielle Radford.

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

The music for our new promo is provided by Incompetech.com

From the mercurial CM Punk news cycle to live events from around the world, there’s so much to discuss.

Plus: we give out another round of recognitions from wrestling known as “Superplexatives”-- we’re making up the categories and spotlighting the winners. Best slow clap moment of the year? Best wrestler in a non-wrestling setting? And those are just the beginning!

The Three Count

Lindsey and put over The Iron Claw puppy interview

Danielle put over the same thing that Lindsey did, duh.

Hal put over Bayley hating Michael Cole for Christmas.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Ep. 379: Wrestling Recast - WWElf Dec 23, 2023

Show notes

It’s time for another edition of Wrestling Recast where Tights and Fights takes famous movies and stage shows and reimagines them to feature wrestlers in every role.

This time, it’s the 2003 film Elf. Will Ferrell’s holiday classic celebrates its 20th anniversary this year. But which wrestlers would endear it to an audience of marks? John Cena as Buddy! Ricky “The Dragon” Steamboat as Papa Elf! And of course… Mick Foley as Santa Claus.

The Three Count

Julian put over WWE’s (far inferior) version of Elf.

Danielle put over Toni Storm getting the TCM intro.

Hal put over CM Punk and Seth Rollins' first meeting.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Julian Burrell

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

Show notes

Do you hear voices in your head?! They counsel you, they understand that it’s a brand new episode of the Tights and Fights podcast!

This week is a super sized Main Event devoted to the recently returned Randy Orton.

He’s been with the WWE for more than 20 years and, despite just recovering from double fusion back surgery, he insists that he has more left in the tank; he aims to wrestle for another decade.

This show covers some of Randy Orton’s biggest events from the Randy News Network to his time in Evolution to all those RKOs outta nowhere.

The Three Count

Danielle put over Liv Morgan ruining relationships.

Hal put over Zelina Vega’s live stream prank calls.

Hosted by Hal Lublin, Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

377: What’s up R-Truth Dec 09, 2023

Show notes

People over there, what’s up?! It’s a brand new episode of the Tights and Fights podcast!

Danielle is back and she can’t keep CM Punk’s name out of her mouth. She’ll speculate about how he fits in to WWE.

Meanwhile, Lindsey laments that Seth Rollins has been allowed steam roll through all of our favorite baby faces, including his latest victim Jey Uso. Maybe that’s all in service of making him look as good as possible for a certain Pepsi drinker on the roster?

The Main Event: R-Truth

R-Truth is hardly ever a big part of WWE. But he's almost always a special part of the show. He's wrestled for decades, won champions and has some of the best comedic senses of anyone in the game.

Hosted by Danielle Radford and Lindsey Kelk

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.

The Three Count

Lindsey put over DIY vs. Imperium

Julian put over Tony Khan’s awful twitter habit

Danielle put over Otis putting over Lash Legend

Ep. 376: Survivor Series: War Games 2023 Dec 02, 2023

Show notes

It’s time to share war stories on the latest episode of the Tights and Fights podcast!

Hal and Lindsey discuss the women once again stealing the show in the women’s version of War Games. Risks were taken and even though it not clear if everyone was on equal footing in terms of their star power, there was still a lot to enjoy.

There were also some matches that flew lower on the radar between the IC title bought, Santos Escobar vs. Dragon Lee and Rhea Ripley vs. Zoe Stark.

The Main Event: R-Truth, Randy Orton and CM Punk

Saturday featured the return of three major stars for WWE. We start at the least problematic co-worker and go through each of them to decide how they fit into the current WWE landscape… and whether signing them could be a massive mistake.

Hosted by Hal Lublin and Lindsey Kelk

Produced by Julian Burrell for Maximum Fun.
