Taking Women’s Health Off The Back Burner Jun 23, 2021
    Show notes

When the distribution of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine was paused after six people experienced rare blood clots, many drew the parallel to birth control–a medication that can also cause blood clots. The double standard was glaring and left us asking, where is this sense of urgency and concern when it comes to women’s health? While it has always been the case, the events over this past year and a half have exposed the harsh reality that our medical system is not built to support or prioritize women or the non binary community. Thankfully, there are many trailblazers in the field who are fighting for a much-needed priority shift. On this episode of The Well+Good Podcast, we sit down with two of them: Dr. Jessica Shepherd and Dr. Shikha Jain, who break down the changes that need to happen both structurally and in our day-to-day lives in order to move women’s health to the forefront.

HOST: Kate Spies, SVP+ General Manager at Well+Good

    GUESTS:

Dr. Shikha Jain, Board-Certified Hematology and Oncology Physician, A Founder and Chair of the Women In Medicine Summit.

Dr. Jessica Shepherd, OB/GYN, Women's Health Expert, founder of ‘Her Viewpoint,’ A Community Forum For Women's Health

    WHAT WE TALKED ABOUT:

Dr. Jain teaches us how to advocate for ourselves to ensure that we’re getting the best care possible from our healthcare providers. You can find her here.

Dr. Shepherd explains the intersectionality of wellness and health–and what you can do once you leave your doctor’s office to keep yourself well. You can find her here.

Good Grief: Amanda Kloots tells her incredible story Jun 16, 2021
    Show notes

Back in the very early days of the pandemic, the story of Amanda Kloots and Nick Cordero captivated the nation. Amanda a fitness mogul and dancer met Nick, an actor and singer, back in 2014 during the development of a brand-new Broadway musical. In the year since his passing, Amanda, now a single mother to their son Elvis, has become a symbol of hope and resilience, finding strength in the face of the unthinkable. On this episode of The Well+Good podcast, Amanda and her sister Anna–who has been there through it all–discuss how when it comes to living life and navigating loss, there is no script.

Why Can’t We Leave Our Faces Alone? May 19, 2021
    Show notes

Whether we like it or not, most of our face-to-face encounters over the past year and a half have been with our own faces. Let’s admit it, most of the time when we’re on a Zoom or FaceTime call, we’re checking out ourselves and wondering if there’s any way to get better lighting… Even though we spent most of the year au naturel, gearing up to reveal the bottom half of our faces to the world again has dramatically increased the demand for Botox, Invisalign, and other ways to click “touch up my appearance” IRL. So what gives? How do we find the middle ground between accepting ourselves as we are, but also wanting to feel confident as we re-emerge after a year of isolation? As we slowly make our way out of the pandemic, it is time to ‘unmask’ our longest-held beliefs about beauty and skincare, and hopefully, nail down a routine that has us feeling our best–inside and out.

HOST: Kate Spies, SVP+ General Manager at Well+Good

    Jessica Defino, Beauty Reporter

Dr. Carolyn Treasure, Co-Founder of Peachy

Dr. Carolyn Treasure distinguishes how wrinkle prevention and aging can co-exist on our road to self-acceptance, check out Peachy here

Wellness Tune Up, And What Your Sign Really Says About You Apr 21, 2021
    Show notes

Allow us to re-introduce ourselves. Now that it’s been 7 weeks since we launched the Well+Good podcast, we thought we’d tell you a little bit more about who we are, how we got here, and what drew us into the wellness industry in the first place. We hope that you’ll join us every week for new episodes, so let’s get on a first-name basis, we’re your hosts, Taylor, Ella, and Kate.

Also in this episode, we share some behind-the-scenes audio from our conversation with Elizabeth Kott and Stephanie Simbari. During our chat, they hilariously share their first word association for all 12 astrological signs. Ours were… accurate, maybe yours will be too.

From time to time, we’ll be back with an episode just like this one, a tune up on the conversations that really stuck with us, or the hysterical tangents that just didn’t make it into the final cut. Like what you hear or aggressively disagree with your sign’s telltale word? Shoot us an email at podcasts@wellandgood.com.
