27: Episode 87 - Bills offense hands Browns a win
Nov 11, 2019
Show notes
The Buffalo Bills failed to defeat the Cleveland Browns, falling 19-16 in Cleveland to fall to 6-3 on the season. While at first glance, it's easy to point the finger at kicker Stephen Haushcka for missing a game-tying field goal, the problem is much deeper, yet obvious. For months, many of the Bills critics have questioned the Bills offense, with much push back from biased "Billievers" and Josh Allen apologists. If this game doesn't change those opinions, nothing will. Poor clock management, conservative play calling and key plays not extending drives were all a major part of this team's misfortunes in Cleveland. Daboll has been a figure who, if this Bills season goes south quick, could find himself as the scapegoat when it comes to appeasing the fan base at the end of the season. His play calling has seemingly limited this offenses potential, and does not look as explosive as it could. It has even led many to believe that Josh Allen isn't the franchise quarterback that the team thought he was. Fortunately for Buffalo, if there is anything positive to examine, the Bills are not down and out, and have the opportunity to build their cushion as the first Wild Card spot, although there are some teams beginning to catch up.

26: Episode 86 - Bills win over Redskins, but is the run defense exposed?
Nov 04, 2019
Show notes
The Bills did it. They defeated another team that they were supposed to beat, with a 24-9 over the Washington Redskins, at home. While the "strength of schedule" conversation will haunt this entire season, no matter the end result, 6-2 is an excellent spot to be in as the Bills have quite the cushion, and an excellent record for a post-season appearance. Buffalo attacked the Redskins today with a balanced offense, something that should be continually maintained for the remainder of the season, as long as the situations permit it. Devin SIngletary got his most usage today, and wasn't wasted in the slightest. Perhaps the coaching staff is seeing what many of us have seen, fan and analyst like, and that Singletary is a unique player and piece to the puzzle that is Buffalo's offense. The team, still lacking an offensive identity, would be best to feed him the ball as much as possible without over exhaustion. On the defensive side, although the secondary continues to play at a high level, the run defense is an on-going issue that needs to be addressed. Many hoped for a trade before Tuesday's deadline, but it never came to fruition, and the Bills have given up big chunks of important yardage on the ground. There are many teams on the schedule ahead with prominent rushers, and smart coaching and will certainly bring forth a heavy rush attack in critical moments. Next week, Buffalo travels to Cleveland, perhaps a still intriguing game, although the Browns have not panned out the way that many would have hoped in 2019.

25: Episode 85 - Are the Bills built to compete with the best of the NFL?
Oct 28, 2019
Show notes
Although 5-2 is a pretty favorable record to have, I believe that it's become apparent that the Buffalo Bills' on-field play wasn't as sustainable as many people would believe. On Sunday, at home, the Bills were manhandled, to put it nicely, by the Philadelphia Eagles, and it left very little to be optimistic about. The windy weather in Orchard Park didn't slow the Eagles from flying on this day, and rebounding big, to keep the race for the NFC East within reach. Philadelphia's run game, which isn't the team's strong suit, exposed the Buffalo Bills' defense, taking a whopping 218 yards on the ground. Offensively fared even worse, as the Bills' offense was contained to 98 yards of rushing, and 169 yards passing. Buffalo's defensive struggles weren't helped much by the offense, and allowed the Eagles to have 12 more minutes. It was a little less than an average performance for Josh Allen, who is averaging 220.7 yards a game. Games like these are why many fans, and journalists, see more from Allen as a passer, as defense can't win every game. Though it should be noted that play calling didn't help his case today much either. In hindsight now, this loss to Philadelphia shouldn't be taken as the team is spiraling downward. Buffalo has show character and resiliency all season, and that hasn't been confined to their 60 minutes every Sunday. They have an opportunity to bounce back against the Washington Redksins next Sunday, and we will again see how this team can handle adversary. Billswire podcast hosts Matt Johnson and Jeremy Juhasz discuss the loss, and if this Bills team is capable to battle with the best that the NFL has to offer.
24: Episode 84 - Bills avoid upset with big second half
Oct 21, 2019
Show notes
It wasn't pretty, again, but that has been the story all season long for the 2019 Buffalo Bills. Avoiding a major upset that would have cast serious doubt on this organization, from the players to coaching, Buffalo prevailed against the winless Miami Dolphins. The game started off rather pleasant, with Buffalo scoring the first two scores of the day, courtesy of Stephen Hauschka, before allowing a touchdown to the Miami Dolphins. Before long, another touchdown had Miami up on Buffalo 14-9, but it was the last lead that Miami would hold the day. Josh Allen had a typical Josh Allen game, minus the interceptions. 200 yards and two touchdown passes on the day, connecting with his new toys in John Brown and Cole Beasley. Brown led the receiving core by a long shot, taking in 41.09% of receiving yards this week. The connection has blossomed this season, and I'm sure many will hoping that this continues. Buffalo's defense struggled a tad, allowing the most points that they had given up all season. Poor tackling, amongst some other issues, left a window of opportunity for Fitzmagic to capitalize, and send the season spiraling out of control.

23: Episode 83 - Bills have favorable remaining schedule
Oct 14, 2019
Show notes
Although no game this week for the Buffalo Bills, it's as good of a time as ever to outlook the remainder of the season. Buffalo has a very favorable stretch of remaining games, and with an AFC Conference that's quite messy and unpredictable, it's essentially their playoff spot to lose. They currently have the second best record in the conference, one less loss than Houston and Kansas City, although that is a minimal detail. In fact, the past five weeks of football mean nothing. Bills' fans have been here before. It will all have been for naught if this team can't deliver on their last eleven games of the season. Buffalo returns to action next Sunday, at home, against the Miami Dolphins, a team who has yet to get a win. It's a good start, as the climb continues against Philadelphia, Washington, Cleveland over the weeks after, and a few studs after that. In this episode, Billswire Podcast Hosts Matt Johnson and Jeremy Juhasz analyze the season so far, and what is to come.
