Meeting Your Emotional Needs with Kim Keane Apr 07, 2022
    Show notes

Today’s episode dives deep into some things we really struggle with as moms. We talk about how we wrap our identity in what we do instead of who we are. We talk about meeting the needs of everyone else instead of our own emotional needs. And we talk about how the stories we tell ourselves create our reality, real or not.

Our guest today, Kim Keane, is a certified life coach, podcaster, speaker, and the founder of Girl Talk, a program for elementary and middle school girls focusing on empowerment and leadership skills.

Kim is a knowledgeable resource for moms since she understands firsthand the struggles and challenges that moms face as she has navigated them as a working mom and a stay-at-home-mom. She wants moms to know they are not alone, they are powerful beyond measure, and they are worthy.

Tech Addicted Kids with Kathy Van Benthuysen Mar 24, 2022
    Show notes

What is your opinion about kids and technology use? Are you worried about tech addiction in your children? Does your own tech use even give you pause?

We are so lucky today with all the access to information. However, we know that technology can be a double-edged sword. Today, we are talking to Kathy Van Benthuysen from Converlation. Kathy was a teacher of 4th graders for almost 30 years. Her experience with the children prompted her to help create solutions and ensure they reach every family. Listening to parents and kids, while regarding recommendations by the experts, it was clear that the solutions were only tips and tricks.

Using her background in instructional design and having an in-depth understanding of the mind of a 4th grader, Kathy led the evolution of Converlation from inception to present-day.

The Importance of Mentorship with Deborah Heiser Mar 17, 2022
    Show notes

Think of a time in your life when someone with more knowledge and experience was leading you on a path to become something more. If you can think of a time like that, you know the importance of mentorship. Mentorship can be seen in families, in careers, in parenting, in sports, in education, really anywhere someone with a greater breadth of knowledge is passing this along.

And mentorship doesn’t only benefit the mentee, but the mentor as well. These benefits led today’s guest to create The Mentor Project, a non-profit organization that helps mentors connect with mentees to pass the torch of knowledge, innovation, culture, values, and inspiration to future generations.

Today I have the pleasure of speaking with Dr. Deborah Heiser, Applied Developmental Psychologist, a TEDx speaker, Adjunct Professor in the Psychology Department at SUNY Old Westbury, and Founder of The Mentor Project.

She has been quoted in The New York Times, Seattle Times, Dallas Times and contributes to Thrive Global. Her research covers a wide range of topics related to aging, including depression identification, dementia, and frailty with grants awarded from NIA/NIH and Pfizer. She received an international award for her research on depression identification, as well as serving for 9 years on the Board of the State Society on Aging of New York and was President in 2008. Later In 2016, she served as President of Queens Psychological Association in New York.
