    Show notes

Financial loss can be tough especially when combined with a personal loss like a divorce. On today’s episode, we talk with Sonia Macias, a single mom who lost her entire portfolio, about how she went from surviving mode to striving mode to rebuild her wealth and inspire her daughters. We discuss the importance of helping yourself before helping others, transitioning from flipping to rentals, and how she was able to set herself up for success after such an impactful life event. Sonia also shares how she finds deals in today’s market and what it’s like being a single mom doing it all. Sonia was born in Mexico City and was brought to the U.S. at 9 years old. She now resides in Omaha, Nebraska. Starting to work at a young age, Sonia learned the value of hard work and realized she wanted to do more with her life. After graduating college, Sonia married her high school sweetheart, had two daughters, climbed the corporate ladder in the banking industry, and built a real estate portfolio consisting of many flips and eight rentals. After 15 years of marriage, she asked for a divorce and lost everything they had built together. Financially, she saw a 70% household income loss and knew she had to change things fast. To date, Sonia has done 5 flips and has acquired 4 rentals all in an effort to support her family and show her daughters that where there’s a will, there’s a way. On today’s episode, we discuss a ton with Sonia, including: – How to transition from flipping to buy and holds – The importance of helping yourself before helping others – The difference between generating money and creating wealth – How to overcome an impactful life event and pivot from surviving to striving – How to find and analyze deals in today’s market Books/Resources The Every Dollar App by Dave Ramsey Buy, Rehab, Rent, Refinance, Repeat by David Greene Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki The Richest Man in Babylon by George Clason The Real Estate InvestHER Meetup – Omaha NE Contact Information BiggerPockets- Sonia Macias Facebook – Sonia G. For many real estate investors, the hardest real estate deal to complete is often the first one. Not only do newer investors lack the knowledge and experience, but they also experience a ton of fear and uncertainty as they navigate this business. Well, on today’s episode, we have one of our amazing InvestHER Meetup Leaders, Stephanie Banno, with us discussing how she finished and sold her first real estate deal while working full time and long distance! During today’s interview, we discuss how she found her first deal, how she leveraged relationships, how to find and talk to distressed sellers, how to utilize virtual assistants, and how to manage expectations as you get started! Discover Work-Life Rhythm Before You Burnout with CC Sutton Jan 31, 2020
    Show notes

The secret to being more engaged, more productive, and more profitable is closer to home than you think. On today’s episode, we dive deep into self-care and work-life rhythm with CC Sutton who is a work-life integration specialist and productivity keynote speaker. We explore the fact that self-care is not a luxury, it is a necessity and CC shares practical steps to help you make it a priority. When days are hectic, it’s easy to check off the boxes on your to-do list and ignore the signs that your body is becoming unbalanced. We discuss ways to become more intentional with our actions, how to get clear on what rejuvenates us, and the language required when communicating our needs with others. After 11 years of feeling overworked, overweight and over it ALL, CC took matters into her own hands and traded in her fancy business suits for a t-shirt and yoga pants to work remotely. And not only did she gain balance back into her professional & personal schedule, but she also increased her work productivity, multiplied her earnings, and she even lost the extra pounds! Today, CC is a 13-year professional speaker, certified John C. Maxwell Speaker, Coach & Trainer and a certified Life & Relationship Coach. Organizations call on her when they want their attendees to have a paradigm shift and take action. Prior to becoming a professional speaker, CC worked in the oil & gas, IT and higher-education sectors recruiting for top talent across the U.S. CC Sutton is a consummate speaker who has hosted her own radio talk show, and has extensive experience speaking at an array of events, including the International Swing Dance Championships, celebrity luncheons, galas, fashion shows, fundraisers, conferences, and more. She has also been featured on Fox 26 News, The Houston Business Journal, the Houston Chronicle and on several radio talk shows and podcasts. CC resides in Houston, TX with her husband, Tristen, and their Pointer named "Peppy". Outside of speaking, CC enjoys competitive ballroom dancing, working out (only because she's a HUGE foodie), traveling, and mentoring young ladies. She also loves rain, candles and fruit smoothies…in that order. Key points - How to listen to your body and learn what it needs to feel rejuvenated - Steps to achieve work-life rhythm to optimize performance - How to put yourself first because you can’t help others if you don’t help yourself - Learn the language needed to gain the support you seek - How to feel more balanced both professionally and personally Books/Resources instacart Any.do Cozi Sanvello Calm 7 Keys to Work-Life Balance by Julie Cohen Contact Information IG – ccsutton_ Personal Facebook – cc.sutton Business Facebook – cc sutton How To Join the InvestHER Movement  1) The Real Estate InvestHER Podcast - The weekly show details the journey of some of the most amazing women real estate investors around the world, who open up their lives and share practical and strategic tools for growing a rental portfolio, flipping houses and the mindset that allows them to run a successful investing business while taking care of their families and most importantly taking care of themselves. • Subscribe via Itunes • Subscribe via Android • Subscribe via Stitcher 2) InvestHER Community on Facebook We have 2k+ members in our Facebook InvestHER Community (and growing!)
