As female investors, we often times find ourselves alone in a room of men. On today’s episode, we talk with Ashley Wilson, investor and now published author, on her new book, The Only Woman in the Room, in which she shares the stories of 20 female investors of how they found success and overcame challenges in their careers. Ashley left a real estate conference in 2018 triggered by the fact that women were so outnumbered by men not only in the room, but also on stage and she felt called to do something about it. She began to take mental notes over the next couple years of woman she met that truly inspired her and had a story to tell. Her goal was to share the authentic and raw experiences of female investors to create a long-lasting impact to elevate women out of the breakout rooms and onto the mains stage. Ashley Wilson, also known as “BadAsh Investor”, started investing in real estate in 2010, and is the Co-Founder of HouseItLook LLC and Bar Down Investments, LLC. Previously, Ashley worked for Sanofi-Aventis, Wyeth (Pfizer), and GlaxoSmithKline where she achieved the role of Director of Global Project Management within the department Vaccine Clinical Research and Development. During this period, she learned effective skills to manage from afar. Ashley has since applied these skills to real estate. Specifically, she co-founded HouseItLook, a house flipping company located in the suburbs of Philadelphia, with her father Tom while living in Europe. Ashley also co-founded Bar Down Investments with her husband Kyle, specializing in owning and operating large multifamily properties throughout the United States. In addition to her two companies, she provides consulting services to other multifamily owners, coaches other real estate investors and speaks regularly at conferences across the country. When Ashley is not working on her businesses, she enjoys spending time with her family, including her husband and their two daughters and competing with her horse, Wow!. On today’s episode, we discuss a ton with Ashley, including: The power of transferable knowledge Her inspiration behind the creation of her book Why it’s so important to share what inspires you with those you trust A sneak peak of the amazing stories complied in the book Books/Resources The Only Woman in the Room Rich Dad Poor Dad Contact Information www.BadAshInvestor.com Instagram - @BadAshInvestor BiggerPockets Contributor In The Only Woman in the Room, 20 incredible women share how they were able to achieve financial freedom in a world historically dominated by men. Landing Probate Deals Through Cold Calling with Joette Trinh Sep 11, 2020
    Show notes

Cold calling can seem daunting, but it can lead to some of your best deals. On today’s episode, we talk with Joette Trinh, a real estate attorney and investor, on her success with landing probate deals through cold calling and what she’s learned from closing over 1,200 transactions as a real estate attorney. We discuss with Joette how she began investing by flipping mobile homes while in law school and how her mother taught her to persevere through challenges. Joette shares with us the four things she looks for when analyzing a deal, and the script she uses when cold calling probate executors. She also explains the lessons she’s learned closing real estate transactions as a lawyer and how you can prevent yourself from making the same mistakes. As a first generation American—Joette Trinh’s mother is from Vietnam and came to the US during the Vietnam war after spending nine months in a Malaysian refugee camp. She arrived with $3.50 in her pocket to start her new life in America which taught Joette the value of hard work. After Joette’s father left at age 5, her mother raised Joette for many years on her own. After attending a 'real estate boot camp' taught by a well-known real estate 'guru', Joette decided she wanted to learn about real estate. She didn’t have any money so she bartered work for education. That tenacious attitude paid off. She’s now been a real estate attorney for seven years-closing over 1200+ transactions and built her real estate portfolio with her husband. On today’s episode, we discuss a ton with Joette, including: How to speak to probate executors when cold calling The mindset you need to be in to create a solution for the seller Lessons learned while closing transactions as a lawyer The importance of taking action instead of waiting for things to be perfect Books/Resources How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis Contact Information CommonGoodRealEstate.com Facebook – Common Good Real Estate LinkedIn – Common Good Real Estate Instagram – Common Good Real Estate InvestHER Community Our mission is to support and inspire women real estate investors around the globe to live a financially free and balanced life. How to Build More than 30,000 Connections on LinkedIn with Pamela Goodwin Aug 28, 2020
    Show notes

LinkedIn is not only a great place to showcase your accomplishments, it’s also a valuable platform to find business opportunities and cultivate relationships. On today’s episode, we talk with Pamela Goodwin, commercial real estate mogul and entrepreneur, about how she has grown a substantial LinkedIn following and uses it to grow her business. We discuss with Pam the power of telling your story and being authentic, what does and what doesn’t work on social media, and how she’s moving through her journey with cancer. Pam shares the biggest mistake people are making on LinkedIn, tips for how to remain consistent with content, and most importantly, the results that come from her growing accounts. Pamela J. Goodwin’s interest in entrepreneurship started when she was four years old. Her first venture was a lemonade stand, and then worked in the family’s poultry business, to tenant coordination/project management with several large shopping center owners, to developing more than 50 pad sites with Brinker Int. (Chili’s and On the Border). Being an entrepreneur, Pamela decided to start her own company in 2006. What distinguishes her from others in her field of expertise is she has a long record of successfully guiding local and national clients (Walgreen’s, McDonald’s, Chase Bank to name a few) with their commercial real estate acquisitions, lease obligations and consulting services. Pamela is the founder and CEO of Goodwin Commercial based in Dallas, TX, a boutique commercial real estate and consulting firm specializing in developing retail and restaurant pad sites. She has been featured in BisNow, Texas Real Estate Business, Shopping Center Business and the Dallas Business Journal. Pamela graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (yes, big Cornhusker football fan) and has authored two books. On today’s episode, we discuss a ton with Pam, including: Ways to grow a social media account to support your business How to create engaging content that people will love How social platforms build your credibility Ways to find and create business opportunities from LinkedIn Books/Resources Episode 23: Crushing it in Commercial Real Estate Investing with Pamela Goodwin Three Feet From Gold by Sharon Lechter Contact Information LinkedIn- Pamela J.
