1195 | Michael Wickett: “Do Not Expect Others to Take Care of You; Take Responsibility for Creating Your Own Happiness.” Jul 01, 2021
    Show notes

Michael Wickett returns to The QOD Show to share an inspiring story of an admirable risk-taker who transformed her empire with nothing else but determination in the beginning into a multi-million dollar company. With this, he illustrates the power of resilience within adversity and the power of perception that can ultimately influence reality.

Michael believes that the way you see the world becomes your world. He presents to us the life of a person who could've bemoaned her fate but didn't. Instead, she counted her blessings and focused on what she had rather than what she lost, and the result was spectacular. Indeed, what you perceive is what you will achieve. And in Michael's words, "The way you see it is the way you get it."

1194 | Sandy Gallagher: “You Can Be Anything You Want." Jun 30, 2021
    Show notes

Today, Sandy Gallagher underscores that it’s never too late to be who you really are. Sandy explains that there comes a point in your life where you have to make a pivotal decision whether to settle for an average life or take a risk and choose to pursue what you truly want.

She further invites you to ponder and think if this is the life you truly want to live. Will you settle for what you have right now? Or are you willing to change to live the life you want?

To make it possible, she reminds us to make room for the good that we desire. Unfortunately, most people choose to settle in a life they do not want to live. For this reason, Sandy accentuates that while change is not an easy task, it’s truly worth it.

1193 | Tom Bilyeu: “Become So Good that They Can’t Ignore You.” Jun 29, 2021
    Show notes

On today’s episode, Tom Bilyeu emphasizes the crucial importance of developing your skills. The moment you become so good that other people can’t ignore you is the moment you start to dominate.

Developing new skills entails having the mindset of an eternal student who takes immediate action and does not let ego get in the way. Simply put, ego is not only built around being intelligent and right all the time, but in being open to learning. As a learner, you open yourself to further reading, feedback, and criticism. This intellectual humility allows for endless potential, further improvement, and growth of the self.

More than being a learner, Tom highlights the concept of being “antifragile,” which means getting stronger the more one is attacked. Finally, he believes that you could do more and become more. Because at the end of the day, “The greatest mind control is control over your own mind.”

    1192 | Ed Mylett: “We’re Gonna Win Today.” Jun 28, 2021
    Show notes

On today’s Motivation Monday episode, Ed Mylett shares a powerful story about the difference between merely playing and playing to win. If you aim to achieve great things, then you’ve got to do it now because time flies fast. Now is the time to quit playing around and start winning.

Winning begins in the mind. And all boils down to making a firm decision and having the will to win. It also takes this critical characteristic of a winner: equanimity, or peace under duress. Despite the pressure and the immense stress levels, you still remain the best. So watch your thoughts, for they greatly influence your reality.

Finally, Ed reminds us that the difference between thought and decision is the immediate action you take. So make this the day you stop playing and start winning.

1191 | Og Mandino: “Nobody Makes it Alone.” Jun 25, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode, Og Mandino brings to light a fact most often taken for granted. Even ancient wisdom would agree that that man is a social animal. It's been established since Aristotle that, “He who is unable to live in society, or who has no need because he is sufficient for himself, must be either a beast or a god.”

Likewise, Og highlights the sociality of mankind. You can’t do everything alone because, in truth, no man or a woman is an island. Success can absolutely not be achieved alone. All of us need help to grow, recover, or learn.

Finally, he wants us to understand that you ask for help not because you are weak but because you want to remain strong. Nobody makes it all alone.

1190 | Jay Morrison: “Just Go Do It!” Jun 24, 2021
    Show notes

Sometimes, life can be so unkind, unfair, and cruel. And when this happens, we usually lose our sense of direction and fall into the downward spiral of despair. That’s why in this episode, Jay Morrison presents to us the significance of having a clear purpose in life.

Knowing your “why” or having a reason fuels your determination and dedication to keep going forward. It’s what gives you light during the darkest days of your life and further shines to others who need it. Simply put, the world needs your purpose too.

In sum, Jay is saying that knowing your “WHY” or having a clear vision of what motivates you, how you’re going to achieve it, and why you’re doing it provides the direction towards a purposeful, successful, and significant life.

1189 | Dr. George Fraser: “Tell Them What’s in it for Them.” Jun 23, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode, Dr. George Fraser enumerates the key elements of what makes a stunning first impression. Firstly, he explains that the purpose of creating an excellent first impression is to fascinate the other person's interests so they would want to know more about you later on.

Moreover, Dr. Fraser highlights that central to your personal introduction is the emphasis on adding value to others. And you have to prove it by quantifying it in a matter of a few words. In addition, even beyond the words you say, your body language and facial expressions contribute to your overall impression.

Remember that time is a precious commodity, so make it count. As the saying goes, every battle is won before it's ever fought. And one of the key elements to that victory is a great and striking first impression that lasts.

1188 | Jordan B. Peterson: “Do Not Do Things You Know to Be Stupid.” Jun 22, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode, Jordan Peterson puts the significance of our well-being above all else. In other words, you’re empowered with a choice to refuse to be someone who bows down absolutely to any kind of system that causes you misery and resentment.

In the context against the backdrop of bureaucracy, Jordan explains that you should object or refuse at the outset, especially when people ask you to do anything that will demotivate you and make you miserable in the long run. Like Viktor Frankl once said, "Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of human freedoms—to choose one's attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one's own way." In the same way, Jordan underscores our capacity to choose wisely, especially those that concern our peace, well-being, and happiness.

1187 | Zig Ziglar: “You Can Change What You are, You Change Where You are, by Changing What Goes into Your Mind.” Jun 21, 2021
    Show notes

In this episode, Zig Ziglar accentuates the power of words and explains further that a simple word can either be the ultimate game-changer or the reason for one's downfall. As Sigmund Freud once said, “By words, one person can make another blissfully happy or drive him to despair.”

According to Zig, there’s tremendous power behind words that can dramatically impact people’s lives. For instance, a simple word of encouragement may boost confidence and lift people’s spirits, but it can also cut way deeper than any blade in the world. For this reason, Zig reminds us to be more aware and be mindful of the words we use not just on other people but also on ourselves. In Zig’s words, “You never know when a moment and a few sincere words can impact a life forever.”

1186 | Grant Cardone: “Happiness and Money Should Not Be in the Same Conversation.” Jun 18, 2021
    Show notes

In reality, one cannot live on this planet without money. Simply put, money is essential in day-to-day living, especially in elevating the quality of the life you’re living. And in this episode, Grant Cardone underscores the vital importance of effort and productivity in pursuing success.

According to Grant, there are the great ones, then there’s everybody else. To rise above mediocrity entails sacrifice, hard work, and being surrounded with quality people—specifically, those who are financially motivated.

He further encourages us to surpass our limits and broaden the range of our perspectives. Apparently, most people set their targets solely based on what they need. Dreams have to be bigger than what you’re thinking about. Lastly, it’s not really about getting what you need, but also what you truly deserve.
