    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    Show notes

    After the defendant left the plaintiff to get back with her husband, the plaintiff says he was kicked out of the home they leased together, so he’s suing the defendant for unpaid rent. The defendant claims she ordered the plaintiff to leave because he used drugs while her kids were home. Besides, the defendant alleges that the plaintiff damaged the house, so she owes him nothing. The defendant is countersuing for additional repairs.

    Then, the plaintiff claims she loaned her former friend money to get her transmission fixed, but the defendant hasn’t paid the plaintiff back in full, so she’s suing. The defendant insists the plaintiff told her the money was a gift.

    Antagonizing a Neighbor Feb 28, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff and his wife allege that conflict arose after their neighbor built a shed that encroached onto their property. Things reportedly got physical between the defendant and the plaintiff’s wife, and the defendant had the plaintiff’s wife falsely arrested. The plaintiff is suing for bail as well as pain and suffering. The defendant insists the plaintiff’s wife attacked her, and she was rightfully arrested.

    Then, the plaintiff says her 26-year-old son took her dog, Taffy, out for a walk, and the defendant’s two unleashed pit bulls attacked her canine. The plaintiff’s dog was injured in the scuffle, so she’s suing the defendant for vet bills. The defendant claims her pit bulls went into “protection mode” after Taffy ran up to her front stoop without a leash. The defendant is countersuing for vet bills, fines, and pain and suffering.

    Being All Wet Feb 27, 2023

    The plaintiff says he sold a canoe to the defendant, and the guy stopped making payments, so the plaintiff is suing for the money he says he is owed. The defendant claims he canceled payments on the canoe because it wasn’t safe for his kids. There were patched holes in the canoe, and the defendant wasn’t going to allow his children to drown.

    The plaintiff claims he purchased a building, and the defendants were tenants with a pet grooming business. The defendants reportedly failed to pay rent, so the plaintiff is suing for the money he’s owed. The defendants insist they were running their business in the building for 20 years without any problems until the plaintiff purchased the building, and they deny owing a dime.

    Pulling the Power Feb 24, 2023

    The plaintiffs sublet a house from the defendant. The defendant reportedly turned the power off for no reason, so the plaintiffs are suing the defendant for the electric bill. The defendant says she gave her 30-day notice to move out because the subletters weren’t paying rent and causing issues. After moving out, the defendant admits the power was turned off, but that’s because she wasn’t there.

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her deceased brother’s fiancée, and she refuses to return her brother’s belongings to the family, so the plaintiff is suing for unreturned property. The defendant insists the plaintiff’s brother told her he wanted her to have everything of his before he passed away from COVID-19. The defendant is countersuing for property the plaintiff stole from her brother’s car.

    Bought a Puppy Feb 23, 2023

    The plaintiff purchased a pit bull puppy from the defendant, who told the plaintiff the puppy’s father was a prize-winning dog. But the plaintiff says that isn’t true. The plaintiff wants to return the puppy and is suing the defendant for a refund. The defendant insists he tried to work things out the best he could with the plaintiff, but they could never get on the same page.

    The plaintiff claims he was hired to do remodeling work at the defendant’s house, but she refuses to pay the plaintiff in full, so he’s suing for unpaid wages. The defendant says the plaintiff started the job but disappeared before completing it, so she had to hire someone else to finish the plaintiff’s work.

    Causing Tile Troubles Feb 22, 2023

    The plaintiff hired the defendant to redo the floor tiles in her mudroom and pantry. The guy did such a horrible job that the plaintiff says the work was unsalvageable and needs to be redone, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant believes the plaintiff is nothing but a scammer and insists he did a great job. The defendant is countersuing for additional money owed.

    The plaintiff says the defendant rented from him for seven years, and he’s suing her for unpaid rent. The defendant claims she was evicted because another tenant in the building was smoking, and it seeped into her unit even though they live in a smoke-free building. The plaintiff did nothing to enforce the rules, and the defendant says she moved out.

    Taking Advantage of an Ex Feb 21, 2023

    The plaintiff says he met the defendant on a dating site, and they were together for 11 months. The woman reportedly used the plaintiff’s credit card for a car rental, but she won’t pay him back, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists she paid off the car rental in full, but the plaintiff kept it longer and used it. The defendant refuses to give the plaintiff another dime.

    Then, The plaintiff says he cut the defendant’s lawn at two of his properties for an entire summer season, but he hasn’t been paid, so the plaintiff is suing for unpaid wages. The defendant claims he was dissatisfied with the plaintiff’s work, and he is countersuing for harassment and breaking an agreement.

    Take the Money & Run Feb 21, 2023

    The plaintiff met the defendant through a social media website and says he loaned him money, but the defendant won’t pay him back, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant claims the plaintiff agreed to give him money in exchange for sex, so the defendant insists he doesn’t owe anything. The defendant is countersuing for harassment.

    Then, the plaintiffs claim they purchased a fully furnished condo from the defendant. Once they took possession of the place, they thought they were robbed because numerous items that were supposed to be included in the sale weren’t there. The defendant double-crossed them, so the plaintiffs are suing. The defendant insists he sold the plaintiffs a condo with furniture and not with the small items they were expecting, such as a toaster.

    Making a Costly Mistake Feb 20, 2023

    The plaintiffs claim the defendant, a certified accountant, made a huge mistake on their taxes, and they owe the IRS thousands of dollars as a result, so they’re suing. The defendant says the plaintiffs refuse to send her the paperwork from the IRS so she can see where the discrepancy is, and she insists she filed their taxes correctly based on what the plaintiffs provided.

    Then, the plaintiff says he’s known the defendant for over 60 years. Longtime friend or not, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant owes him money for two tires he purchased for him. The defendant insists he paid the plaintiff back for the tires, but the plaintiff is exaggerating the price and should just drop the issue since it happened years ago.

    Plus, the plaintiffs say their time living in the defendants’ place was a total nightmare. The defendants won’t return the plaintiffs’ security deposit even though they left the place in pristine condition, so the plaintiffs are suing. The defendants insist the plaintiffs treated the home like a pigpen and don’t owe them anything. The defendants are countersuing for additional damages.

    Gross Misrepresentation Feb 17, 2023

    The plaintiff alleges that the defendant knowingly sold her a damaged dining room set, so she’s suing the defendant for a refund. The defendant claims the plaintiff’s boyfriend picked up the dining room set using an SUV and scratched it during transport. The defendant denies owing anything.

    Then, the plaintiff says he and the defendant worked together as lifeguards, and he loaned her money on numerous occasions. The defendant allegedly won’t pay the plaintiff back, so he’s suing her for the money he says he’s owed. The defendant claims she and the defendant were friends until he made a move and she rebuffed his advances. The defendant insists the money was a gift and she owes him nothing.
