    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    Trying to Impersonate a Former Friend Feb 02, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says the defendant, his former friend, stole his designer sunglasses and copied his overall style, so he’s suing for the cost of the glasses. The defendant says he doesn’t have the plaintiff’s sunglasses, and he doesn’t want to look anything like the plaintiff.

    Then, the plaintiff says he hired the defendant to install a new fuel tank in his truck, and the defendant ruined his vehicle. The plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant insists he did the installation properly, and he owes nothing.

    Plus, the plaintiff says the defendant is her former neighbor, and his dog bit her poodle, killing her. The defendant refuses to pay the plaintiff’s vet bills, so she is suing. The defendant argues that the plaintiff called his dog over and incited the fight. Animal control allegedly forced the defendant to put his dog down, and now they’re both in mourning.

    Being a Bad Driver Feb 01, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff rented a car for the defendant, who allegedly blacked out while driving and crashed the vehicle. The plaintiff claims the defendant won’t pay for the repairs, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant alleges that her paycheck is being garnished weekly to pay off the damages, and the plaintiff is suing for money the rental company is already taking out. The defendant is countersuing for half of the damages to the rental car.

    Then, the plaintiff says he worked for the defendant on his basketball team for a few days. The plaintiff has been waiting more than six months for his paycheck, so he is suing for unpaid wages. The defendant alleges that the plaintiff was just an intern. There was no agreement he would be paid.

    Plus, the plaintiff says her dog was viciously attacked by the defendant’s out-of-control pit bull. The dog hasn’t been the same since the attack, so she’s suing for the vet bills. The defendant argues that his leashed dog noticed the plaintiff’s unleashed dog, and when he ran over, a fight ensued. The defendant alleges that the plaintiff’s dog is the one who initiated the fight.

    Dissing Your Sister Jan 31, 2023

    The plaintiff loaned her sister money, but the defendant hasn’t paid her back, so the plaintiff is suing for what she says she’s owed. The defendant claims she paid her sister back in gift cards and sold her two chairs at a discounted price. Besides, the defendant argues, the plaintiff is no sister to her because she didn’t even reach out to her when her son died.

    The plaintiff hired the defendant to repair her deck. However, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant’s work was “horrendous.” She claims the defendant only showed up three times, dug holes in the wrong spot, and left the job unfinished. The plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant argues that he did a lot of work for the plaintiff, and he doesn’t owe her anything.

    Hitting Choppy Seas Jan 30, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says she hired the defendant to do some construction work on the bedroom and kitchen of her boat. The plaintiff alleges that the defendant took off with the plaintiff’s money without completing the job. She is suing for the money she says she’s owed. The defendant argues that the plaintiff moved the boat before he was able to complete the job.

    Then, the plaintiffs say they hired the defendant to install concrete pavers on their property, but immediately after, there was a problem with the grout cracking between the tiles. They’re suing for a refund. The defendant claims he made it clear that the plaintiffs weren’t supposed to walk on the pavers 24 hours after he completed the job, but the plaintiffs did it anyway. If anyone is at fault, the defendant says it’s the plaintiffs.

    Plus, the plaintiff claims he told his neighbor, the defendant, about a large tree hanging over his property. The defendant didn’t do anything about it, and the tree collapsed on the plaintiff’s fence and damaged it. The plaintiff is suing for repairs. The defendant argues that the tree fell due to a hurricane, and he can’t control the weather.

    Not Mending Fences Jan 27, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiffs allege that their neighbor damaged their fence with a car. The neighbors hired someone to fix it, but the fence guy did a horrible job, so the plaintiffs are suing the neighbors to fix the fence correctly. The defendants claim the plaintiffs are just trying to take advantage of them, and the fence looks perfect.

    The plaintiff says after she left her home in perfect condition, the defendant stole her security deposit, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant claims the house was super dirty and in terrible condition. The defendant argues that she doesn’t owe the plaintiff a dime.

    The plaintiff says she purchased a sick puppy from the defendant, and she’s suing for a refund. The defendant alleges she gave the plaintiff a perfect, healthy puppy, and the plaintiff is at fault for the canine’s condition. The defendant is countersuing for slander.

    Banging Up a Subaru Jan 26, 2023

    The plaintiff says she and the defendants got into a fender-bender, which was their fault. She’s suing them for the cost of the damages since they refuse to pay. The defendants say the plaintiff admitted fault at the time of the wreck, and her car was already banged up from another crash. They’re countersuing for the damage to their vehicle.

    Then, the plaintiff says she paid the defendant $5,000 for her 80th birthday party, which never happened because of the pandemic. Now he refuses to give her a refund, so she’s suing. The defendant says he’s happy to change the date, but he won’t give the money back.

    Plus, The plaintiffs say their former landlord is ignoring their requests to return their security deposit even though they left the apartment in good shape. They refuse to be ripped off, so they’re suing to get their money back. The defendant says the plaintiffs trashed the apartment and broke a neighbor’s windows during a dispute, so he used the money for repairs and cleaning.

    I Want My Money & I Want it Now Jan 25, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her former daughter-in-law. She claims she loaned the ungrateful woman money for her car and a baby shower, but the plaintiff has yet to be repaid. She’s suing to get every penny back. The defendant says she can’t believe the plaintiff is turning on her. She claims the plaintiff told her it was a gift, not a loan.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant’s unleashed dog went after his dog in a horrifying attack, and it’s a miracle she survived. The defendant refuses to pay the vet bills, so he’s suing her for those costs, plus pain and suffering. The defendant says the plaintiff’s dog was the aggressor and had her dog’s throat in her jaws. Her dog has a punctured throat, and she’s countersuing for her vet bills.

The defendant says he’s a celebrity stylist and created a work of art for her, but she had someone else install it and that person ruined it. He’s countersuing for slander.

    Then, the plaintiff says he bit into some deep-fried chocolate ice cream at the defendant’s restaurant and felt searing pain and his mouth was bleeding. The emergency room told him he had an oral abrasion, so he’s suing the defendant. The defendant says the plaintiff is just looking for a payday.

    Letting a Lover Down Jan 23, 2023

    The plaintiff says he dated and lived with the defendant. He claims he came home one day and the defendant was gone — along with all his valuables. He’s suing for the value of his missing items. The defendant says the plaintiff cheated on him and so he left when the plaintiff was arrested and put in jail. He says it’s not his fault the apartment was ransacked when he wasn’t there.

    Then, the plaintiff says she hired the defendant to paint her house. She claims he showed her an expired license and hoodwinked her, so she’s suing to get her money back. The defendant says the plaintiff knew full well he was unlicensed and uninsured, and that’s why she got such a great price. He already bought the supplies, so he’s not giving her any refunds.

    Plus, the plaintiff says she parked her car in the defendant’s parking lot and now she has a scratched bumper. He’s refusing to pay for it, so she’s suing him for the cost of the damage. The defendant says the plaintiff left the lot and came back three hours later and blamed him for the scratch. He claims it could have happened anywhere.

    Squabbling Sisters Jan 20, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her older sister, who owes her money. She claims she loaned her cash in her time of need, but her sister is stiffing her, so she’s suing. The defendant says she was about to repay her sister until they got into an all-out brawl. She claims the plaintiff’s daughter busted her daughter’s lip and hit her in the face. She says she owes nothing.

    Then, the plaintiff says she hired the defendant to do some work around her house, but he took off with her money. She claims he took advantage of her, so she’s suing for a full refund. The defendant says he tried to help the defendant, but there’s no pleasing her. He insists he did a great job, and she needs to leave him alone.
