    The People’s Court Podcast

The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

“The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    Being a Gold-Digger Feb 15, 2023
    Show notes

The plaintiff claims he loaned the defendant money to help her with her divorce, and she feigned romantic interest in him. The defendant allegedly won’t pay the plaintiff back, so he’s suing the sweetheart swindler. The defendant insists she made it clear that she and the plaintiff were just friends. When the plaintiff made sexual advances toward the defendant, she told him they needed to part ways, so she cut him off.

Then, the plaintiff alleges that he paid the defendant $1,000 for an apartment he wanted to rent, but the landlord denied his application because he said it was too small for a family of four. The landlord won’t return the money he paid, so the plaintiff is suing. Show notes

The plaintiff claims the defendant is her ex of five years, and he refuses to reimburse her for half of the utility bills of the house they once shared. Then, the plaintiff alleges that the defendant knowingly sold him a damaged, leaky tent at her yard sale, so he is suing for a refund. The defendant says the plaintiff set up the tent in a rainstorm, so of course it started to leak. That’s not her fault.

Getting Painted Into a Corner Feb 13, 2023
    Show notes

The plaintiff says the defendant hired her to paint a picture of her deceased dog. However, the plaintiff alleges that she completed the job but has yet to be paid, so she’s suing the defendant. The defendant claims the plaintiff didn’t tell her she was going to charge her for the painting, and the plaintiff should have told her that beforehand, not after.

Then, the plaintiff says he rented an apartment in the defendant’s building. There was a fire, and his place was ruined. The plaintiff claims the defendant is withholding his security deposit and owes him for his damaged property, so he’s suing. The defendant insists the fire was not his fault, and he already offered to give the plaintiff money when he moved out, but the plaintiff reportedly rejected it.

Plus, the plaintiff claims the defendant had his truck for three weeks and was supposed to repair it, but he didn’t, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant insists he fixed the plaintiff’s truck properly, and when the plaintiff’s vehicle started leaking, the defendant told him to bring it back in. Show notes

The defendant says the plaintiff was his fiancée, and they bought the car together. Once they split up, the plaintiff reportedly kept the car for four months, so the defendant believes he doesn’t owe a dime.

Then, the plaintiff says he lived with the defendant, and the irresponsible guy had the gas cut off in their apartment. The plaintiff allegedly had to take a day off from work to wait for the technician to turn it back on. The plaintiff is suing for missed work and a lost bonus. The defendant claims he paid his fair share of the gas bill every month, but the plaintiff played the COVID-19 pandemic card and didn’t pay his share to the utility company.

    Terrible Tub Feb 09, 2023
    Show notes

The plaintiff says he works at Disney World as a plumber and was hired by the defendants for a side job to remove and install a new bathtub. The defendants reportedly stopped paying the plaintiff for his work, so he’s suing. The defendants insist that after the plaintiff completed the job, they noticed a large gap between the bathtub and the wall. The defendants are countersuing for additional money needed to fix the plaintiff’s terrible work and redo the installation.

Then, the plaintiffs say they got a flat tire, and the defendant sent one of his workers to change it. The worker failed to correctly change the tire, and it came unhinged and damaged the car the next day. The plaintiffs are suing for car repairs. The defendant insists he and his workers know how to bolt a tire onto a car, and he is not responsible for the damage.

The defendant believes the plaintiff just has bad teeth, and that’s not her problem.

Then, the plaintiffs claim their neighbor, the defendant, damaged their property with his tree roots. Since the defendant isn’t very neighborly and won’t pay the plaintiffs’ bills to repair their driveway and brick wall, they’re suing. Shellacking a She Shed Feb 06, 2023
    Show notes

The plaintiff says the defendant’s tree came crashing down onto her backyard shed, demolishing it. The defendant won’t pay her back to get it replaced, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant alleges that he had an inspector check out the tree prior to the incident, and nothing was wrong with the tree. He doesn’t know why it collapsed.

Then, the plaintiffs allege that the defendant’s husky grabbed their Pomeranian by the neck during a violent, unprovoked attack. The defendant won’t repay them for the vet bills, so the plaintiffs are suing. The defendant claims her husky was on a short, tight leash, and the plaintiffs’ dog was on a long, loose leash. The defendant says the plaintiffs failed to control their little dog.

Plus, the plaintiff says she put down a deposit on an electrical tricycle at the defendant’s shop. However, it’s been a year, and she still doesn’t have the tricycle, so she’s suing the defendant for the money she says she’s owed. The defendant claims he feels badly about the delay, but due to the pandemic, delivery was delayed. The defendant says he doesn’t guarantee delivery time, and he’s not at fault.

    An H20 Faux-Pas Feb 03, 2023
    Show notes

The plaintiff says the defendant, his neighbor, waters her side of their common fence and rotted out the enclosure, and the plaintiff had to fumigate the fence. The plaintiff is suing for the cost of fumigation and repairs. The defendant argues that she waters the lemon tree, not the fence, and there are no grounds to this case.

Then, the plaintiffs say their former landlord refuses to return their security deposit for no good reason, so they are suing. The defendant alleges that she had to replace the washer and dryer. The defendant also claims she had to hire a professional cleaning crew because of the condition the plaintiffs left the home in.

Plus, the plaintiff says he hired the defendant to upgrade his car engine to a twin turbo, and the defendant ruined the entire thing. The plaintiff is suing for the cost of the vehicle. The defendant insists the plaintiff brought the car to another person two weeks after the defendant worked on it, and he’s not at fault.
