    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    The plaintiff says the defendant is a former tenant, but he scraped up her property with his moving truck and left a ton of garbage behind. She’s suing him for all the damage. The defendant says he and the plaintiff used to be sexually involved, and she raised his rent and then didn’t renew his lease when his fiancée moved in. He’s countersuing for duress.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant is her daughter, and she loaned her money so she could join them on a family cruise. Now her daughter isn’t paying her back and they’re not speaking, so she’s suing for her cash. The defendant says her mother gave her the funds for the trip, so she owes nothing.

    The plaintiff says she took her dog to the defendant’s shop for grooming, but she says they razor-burned his testicles. She’s suing for vet bills and grooming costs. The defendant says the plaintiff called her to complain and filed a lawsuit the same day. She says she was never given a chance to make things right, and she’s countersuing for lost wages and defamation.

    Then, the plaintiff says he bought a Buick from the defendant, but the DMV then told him there was a problem with the title. The defendant is giving him the runaround and also has another car of theirs, so he’s suing him for a refund. The defendant says the plaintiff filled out the paperwork incorrectly, and the other car is sitting in his lot. He’s countersuing for storage and towing.

    The plaintiff says she owns a marketing company in Ohio and created a website and social media for the defendant’s bikini modeling business. She completed all the work, but the defendant won’t pay, so she’s suing. The defendant says he met the plaintiff at a bar when she was running for Congress. He denies owing her money and is countersuing for lost wages.

    Then, the plaintiff says she rented an apartment from the defendant, but no one was there to give her the key on move-in day. She texted the defendant, who told her the apartment was no longer available. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff called her and told her she didn’t have the money for rent. She’s countersuing for mental anguish and lost wages.

    Not Fixing Things Right Mar 27, 2023

    The plaintiff says she brought her car to the defendant’s repair shop and he fixed several issues. Right after she left the shop, the plaintiff’s head gasket blew, and she wants to know why the defendant missed that and her engine is ruined. She’s suing for her repair costs to be refunded. The defendant says he ran a diagnostic on the car, and he ordered special parts for the repair. He’s not returning anything.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendants are her former tenants, and she noticed a chip in her new bathtub when they moved out. She had to get the whole thing reglazed, but they refuse to take responsibility, so she’s suing for her repair costs. The defendants say there was a shower liner and they are certain they didn’t damage the tub.

    That's One Lousy Landlord Mar 24, 2023

    The plaintiff rented a basement apartment from the defendant and noticed some of her belongings were moved around. The plaintiff installed video cameras to get to the bottom of it. Through her investigation, the plaintiff claims she caught the landlord stealing and rummaging through her things, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant insists she was only down there because the plaintiff was a slob, and she’s countersuing for rent owed.

    The plaintiff hired and paid the defendant to videotape his daughter’s wedding, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the plaintiff had to reschedule. The plaintiff claims the defendant tried to raise the price for the rescheduled date, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant alleges he has every right to raise his rates based off cost-of-living increases, and he denies owing anything. The defendant is countersuing for the balance due on his contract.

    De-Friending a Friend Mar 22, 2023

    The plaintiff purchased some rare furniture from the defendants, but he says a year has passed, and he still hasn’t received anything, so he’s suing for a refund. The defendants tried shipping the furniture, but they claim the plaintiff couldn’t agree on a shipping company, and the furniture has been sitting in their warehouse.

    Then, the plaintiff hired the defendant to ship his Toyota pickup truck to Belize, but he claims the truck arrived damaged, so the plaintiff is suing for the repairs. The defendant says he is not responsible for the damages because all he did was drop the vehicle off in Florida before it was shipped off to Belize.

    Plus, the plaintiff and his former friend agreed on renting a lake house together. The plaintiff says he gave a portion of money to the defendant to pay for the trip, but the defendant switched the intended rental location, and the plaintiff was no longer interested. The defendant won’t return the money, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendant alleges he and 30 people got together to rent the house, and the plaintiff just tried to back out the last minute.     Dancing Her Way Into Court Mar 21, 2023

    The plaintiffs were hired to dance at the defendant’s halftime show at a basketball game, but they claim they still haven’t been paid, so they’re suing for unpaid wages. The defendant, a rapper, claims she was looking for volunteer dancers, and there wasn’t any mention of payment.

    Then, the plaintiff lived with two roommates, and when they moved out, she claims her former roommates fought and damaged the apartment they lived in. The plaintiff says the defendant unfairly withheld the plaintiff’s security deposit to cover her roommates’ damages, so she’s suing. The defendant claims the plaintiff was also involved with her roommates’ fights, and she stiffed him on last month’s rent. Therefore, the defendant believes he has every right to withhold her deposit.

The plaintiff says the defendant has a water run-off on her property, and the plaintiff’s house is now damaged because of the defendant’s negligence. The plaintiff is suing her former friend for the water damages. The defendant says her neighbor has been constantly harassing her for years, and she has been watering her lawn like everyone else in the neighborhood.

    Then, the plaintiffs hired and paid the defendant a deposit to install security cameras in their house, but three months have gone by, and the work still hasn’t been done, so the plaintiffs are suing for a refund. The defendant claims the plaintiffs have a wiring problem in their house, so the project was delayed. The defendant is countersuing for the balance owed on his contract.

The defendant owns a popular sandwich shop, and he claims the plaintiff sent him cracked bread loaves that were smaller than usual, so he denies owing the plaintiff anything.

    Then, the plaintiff rented a two-bedroom home to the defendants, and he says they damaged the place and refused to pay for repairs, so the plaintiff is suing. The defendants allege that they left the place nice and clean, and the plaintiff didn’t do a walk-through with the defendants, and now the plaintiff is making stuff up. The defendants are countersuing for their unreturned security deposit.
