    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    The plaintiff says she rented a house from the defendant, but to her horror, it was infested with mice. She and her son moved out after one night, but the defendant won’t return her rent and deposit, so she’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff put a stop payment on the check, so he doesn’t understand why she’s suing him. He’s countersuing for rent owed.

    The plaintiff says he owns a boat repair service and did some work for the defendant twice, but then the defendant had the credit card company reverse payment on him for no good reason. He’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant says he keeps the boat at the plaintiff’s marina, but the defendant never authorized any work, so he owes nothing.

    Pooping on a Cousin Apr 12, 2023

    The plaintiff says she hired the defendant, her mom’s cousin, to do some work on a trailer she was moving into. She claims he made a mess and even caused sewer damage. She’s suing for her money back. The defendant says the trailer smelled of feces because there were sewage issues before he arrived. He refuses to offer a refund because he did complete the work.

    The plaintiff says he hired the defendant to do some work on his 1970 Pontiac LeMans and gave him a deposit, but then the man came back and said he wanted more money to do the job. The plaintiff told him to cancel the work, but now the defendant won’t return the deposit, so he’s suing him. The defendant says he was ready to do the work, but the plaintiff never brought him the parts and he stored the car for eight months.

    Busting it Up Apr 11, 2023

    The plaintiff says he and the defendant were in a sexual relationship on and off for a few years. He claims she snapped one day and smashed his truck windows, so he’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff maced her, and then slashed her tires, egged her car, and snapped off a mirror, so they’re even.

    Then, the plaintiff says she paid the defendant for a trip to London, but it was canceled because of the pandemic. He offered her a credit but won’t give her a refund. She’s suing for her money back. The defendant says he was able to get the hotel refunded, but the airlines would only offer a credit. He’s countersuing for fees for organizing the trip.

    Dissing an Ex Apr 10, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her ex-boyfriend and they share a child. She says he co-signed on a car loan because she has five kids, but then he showed up demanding that she give him the vehicle. The car was towed and given to the defendant, so she’s suing for all the money she put into it. The defendant says he put down the deposit and paid off the loan, and his ex refused to let him see their child. He’s countersuing for bills he paid for her.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant is his neighbor, who has eight kids. He says one of the kids broke his aquarium and damaged other items, and they’re such slobs that the plaintiff now has a rat problem. They even egged his siding. He’s suing for all the damages. The defendant says the plaintiff harasses him and calls the police on him when his kids leave toys around.

    Not Mending Fences Apr 07, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is his obnoxious, rude neighbor. He claims the man had workers dig a trench on the plaintiff’s property to put in a fence without permission. He’s suing for what it will cost to clean it up. The defendant says he was trying to be neighborly by updating the fence bordering their properties.

    Then, the plaintiffs say they rented a room in the defendants’ house, but there was an altercation and they moved out. Now the defendants refuse to return their deposit and rent, so they’re suing. The defendants say they are pastors at the church and the plaintiffs are members. They says the plaintiffs fought nonstop and spread lies at church, so they’re countersuing for defamation.

    Menacing a Neighbor Apr 06, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says he’s been mercilessly harassed in his neighborhood by the defendants, and they’ve made his life miserable. He’s suing for damages to his self-worth and a car he claims they vandalized. The defendants say the plaintiff lives 200 feet away and they once had a fistfight. They’re countersuing for unlawful prosecution and harassment.

    Then, the plaintiff says she sold two Prada bags to the defendant, who then complained. The plaintiff gave her a refund, but the defendant never returned the goods. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says one of the straps was broken, and then eBay told her she didn’t need to return the items after getting a refund. She says she’s already donated the bags, so she can’t send them back.

    Plus, the plaintiffs say they bought an elliptical machine from the defendant, who said it was a 2018 model. It turned out to be from 2011, and they want a full refund after being grossly overcharged. The defendant says the plaintiffs tried the machine and everything was fine, and then suddenly they didn’t want it. She says it’s a final sale.

    The plaintiffs say they rented their vacation house to the defendant, but the man stole a bear statue and then canceled the credit card charges for payment. They’re suing this strange man for what they’re owed. The defendant says he got bed bugs at their vacation home, and he’s countersuing for pain and suffering, and a bet.

    Then, the plaintiff says she bought a puppy from the defendant, but the puppy needed eye surgery. She’s suing for the vet bills she had to pay. The defendant says the plaintiff insisted on taking the puppy home before he was 8 weeks old, and he warned her she’d have to take responsibility. He claims the dog was healthy.

    Not Doing it Right Apr 04, 2023

    The plaintiff says she brought her car to the defendant’s shop to have the steering repaired, but the problem came back a month later. That’s when the defendant admitted he didn’t use actual BMW parts. She’s suing for a refund. The defendant says he uses after market parts all the time, and he says the plaintiff expects him to fix her 22-year-old car for free. He’s countersuing for the cost of a lawyer.

    Then, the plaintiff says he hired the defendant to move him from Massachusetts to Florida and she damaged his things. Her truck was also too small and he ended up having to rent a second truck. He’s suing for his money back. The defendant says she inspects every load and nothing was wrong with the plaintiff’s goods.

    Letting a Lover Down Apr 03, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her ex and she loaned him money, but now they’ve split up and he won’t pay her back. She’s suing him for every penny owed. Plus, she has a big surprise for him. The defendant says the plaintiff is a liar and denies she ever loaned him anything. He’s countersuing for a broken door and a TV he says she stole.

    Then, the plaintiffs say they hired the defendant to expedite paperwork for some construction for an ailing relative, but the crook took off with their money. He ghosted them and then blamed COVID, so they’re suing for a refund. The defendant says he understands the frustration, but the pandemic is causing the delays.

    The plaintiff says the defendants were moving into the building where she lives and they dropped a refrigerator on her car and caused extensive damage. She says they became rude when she showed them the repair estimate, so now she’s suing for the money to cover it. The defendants say the fridge cracked a bumper when it blew over and the plaintiff flipped out when they told her. They insist it was an act of God.

    Making Mom Mad Mar 31, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her daughter, who she claims kicked her out and dumped her belongings after they had lived together. She’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says her mother left one day and never came back. She threw out the items when her mother stopped answering her phone. She’s countersuing for an airline ticket, a bed, and a bearded dragon.

    Then, the plaintiff says she met the defendant at church and he bought a used car from her. He was supposed to pay her every month, but he only made one payment. She’s suing the double-crosser for the balance owed. The defendant says he found out the odometer was disconnected, which was illegal, and then the car died on the side of the road. He refuses to pay a cent more.
