    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    Show notes

    The plaintiffs say their teenage daughter dated the defendants’ son and she ran away from home. They claim the defendants denied knowing where their child was even after SWAT teams searched for her, but she was actually hiding out with her boyfriend. The plaintiffs are suing for pain and suffering. The defendants say the girl told them she was being abused, so they thought they were protecting her. They’re countersuing for harassment.

    Then, the plaintiff says he met the defendant when she was waiting tables. He claims he gave her multiple loans, then she racked up bills on his credit card and blocked his number, so he’s suing to get his money back. The defendant admits she got the loans and claims the plaintiff told her she wouldn’t have to pay him back if she had sex with him, which she refused.

    Stealing From an Ex Jul 06, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her ex-girlfriend. She claims her ex stole money from her daughter’s account, so she’s suing to get it back. The defendant says the plaintiff showered her with gifts, but now that they’ve split, she’s bitter and is trying to recoup some money.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant has her valuable gaming screen and won’t give it back. She’s suing for its value. The defendant says she has no idea what the plaintiff is talking about and insists she doesn’t have any gaming devices in her home.

    A Cat Catastrophe Jul 05, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her ex-boyfriend, and he shot her cat in the eye in a fit of anger. The vet had to remove the poor animal’s eye to save his life. She’s suing for the vet bill, inconvenience, and pain and suffering. The defendant says the cat sprayed pee at him and the plaintiff’s baby, so he shot it with a pellet gun.

    Then, the plaintiff says she bought a Mercedes-Benz convertible from the defendant, but it turns out the top is broken. He refuses to take the car back, so she’s suing for the cost of the repair and emotional distress. The defendant says he informed the plaintiff one of the hydraulic cylinders leaked and she agreed she would fix it. He’s countersuing for monies owed.

    Plus, the plaintiff says he made a bet with his college buddy and he can prove he won it. Now the defendant won’t pay him the money he’s owed, so he’s suing. The defendant says he and his college buddies made a lot of stupid bets back in the day and they were jokes. He denies owing anything.

    A Dental Dilemma Jul 04, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is his ex-wife, and she owes him money. He won’t let her get away with it, so he’s suing. The defendant alleges the plaintiff knocked her teeth out, was violent and abusive, and went to prison. He has some nerve suing. She’s countersuing for dental work and pain and suffering.

    Then, the plaintiff says she hired the defendant to install a backup camera on her car, but he screwed up its electrical system. He won’t refund her money, so she has no choice but to sue. The defendant says the plaintiff’s car’s wiring was screwed up. He advised her that there might be an issue, but she insisted on going ahead anyway.

    Being Nasty Jul 03, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her cousin. She claims he made false allegations about her on Facebook and she subsequently lost business because of it. Family or not, she’s suing. The defendant says all he did was comment on one of her former worker’s pages that he hadn’t been paid either, and that’s not against the law.

    Then, the plaintiff says she rented a vacation house from the defendant, and the woman is keeping her security deposit because of supposed damages. The plaintiff insists she won’t be ripped off, so she’s suing for the money. The defendant says her lake house was ruined by the unruly defendant and her family, and she’s countersuing for additional damages.

    Making a Real Mess Jun 30, 2023
    Show notes

    The plaintiff rented a furnished room to the defendant, but things didn’t work out because the defendant allegedly walked around naked and sat on her couch. When he moved out, the defendant reportedly left the room in poor condition, so the plaintiff is suing for the cost to clean up his mess. The defendant claims everything was fine until the plaintiff’s boyfriend moved in. The defendant is countersuing over payment of the cable bill as well as pain and suffering.

    Then, the plaintiff says he shipped some packages for the defendant, but the guy won’t pay him the money he’s owed, so the plaintiff is suing for unpaid wages. The defendant alleges that the plaintiff messed up the tracking of some packages he sent through his mail center, and if anyone is owed money, it’s not the plaintiff. The defendant is countersuing for money he lost due to the plaintiff’s negligence.

    Trashing & Dashing Jun 29, 2023

    The plaintiff, who rented a room from the defendant, claims she asked for more time to pay the rent, and the defendant started yelling and screaming. The plaintiff reportedly called the cops, and she left the house as they instructed her to do. When the plaintiff returned, her couch was allegedly slashed, and her clothes were scattered about on the street, so she’s suing for damaged property. The defendant alleges that the plaintiff trespassed onto her property on numerous occasions, and the plaintiff was violent toward her. The defendant denies owing the plaintiff anything and is countersuing for emotional distress.

    Then, the plaintiff paid the defendant to dye her wig for a photo shoot. However, the defendant messed up the job so badly that the plaintiff was fired, so she is suing for a refund. The defendant claims the plaintiff trashed him on social media, harming his reputation with false accusations, so he is countersuing for lost revenue and defamation.

    Then, the plaintiff says she rented an apartment from the defendant, but she had to move out because the other tenants in the house liked to party all night. The plaintiff is suing the defendant because he refuses to return her security deposit. The defendant claims the tenants are still living in the house even though the plaintiff moved out, and he’s not giving the deposit back until the other roommates are out.

    What a Tool Jun 26, 2023

    The plaintiff says the defendant is holding some of her valuable tools hostage and won’t give them back, so she’s suing. The defendant claims he and the plaintiff have been friends for over 20 years, but the plaintiff owes him money for some handyman work he performed. Until she pays him, the defendant says he’ll keep the tools. The defendant is countersuing for unpaid wages and pain and suffering.

    Then, the plaintiff hired the defendant to provide a bouncy castle for her 7-year-old child’s birthday party. The defendant reportedly failed to get the necessary permits, and the birthday party was ruined, so the plaintiff is suing for a refund. The defendant insists he was only hired to provide the bouncy castle and believed the plaintiff would obtain the permits needed.

    Stiffing a Neighbor Jun 26, 2023

    The plaintiff says she sold her car to her neighbor, the defendant. She claims he still hasn’t paid it off and refuses to give it back to her, so she’s suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the plaintiff sold him the car for $1,500 and he paid in full. He alleges she drinks a lot and probably forgot. He’s countersuing for overpayment and aggravation.

    Then, the plaintiffs say they rented an apartment from the defendant, but she unlawfully kept their security deposit when they moved out. They say they left the place in great condition, so they’re suing to get their deposit back. The defendant says she returned some of the deposit and kept the rest for repair and disposal costs.

    Plus, the plaintiff says the uncaring defendants let their large dogs run loose. He claims one of them violently attacked his 5-pound dog, and she needed lifesaving surgery. He’s suing them for the vet bills. The defendants say the plaintiff claimed the attack took place a year before and demanded money. They insist their dogs are fenced in and have never gotten out.
