    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    The plaintiff says he has video of the defendant wrecking his gate when he towed his car, but the man is ignoring his request for payment. He’s suing for the cost of repair. The defendant says the claim is bogus because he never hit anything.

    Then, the plaintiff says she brought her BMW to the defendant’s shop, but he used after-market parts, which caused the car to have problems. She needed to have it repaired, so she’s suing him for the cost. The defendant says he tried to help the plaintiff out because she bought the car from him, but nothing pleases her.

    Accosting a Co-Roofer Nov 02, 2022
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says he worked for the hostile defendant on a home renovation project. The plaintiff claims the defendant tried to punch him, so he tased him in return. He’s suing for what he’s owed for his work, plus damage to his truck. The defendant says the plaintiff is liar and he denies throwing a punch. He insists he paid him for his work and owes nothing.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant got her a tent, but it fell down and broke, so she had him return it to the store where he bought it. He said he’d send her the money when the store refunded him, but she claims he pocketed the cash, so she’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff tried to ruin his reputation by telling everyone he’s a thief after he did her several favors. He’s countersuing for loss of income and pain and suffering.

    Not Fixing Things Right Nov 01, 2022

    The plaintiff says an elderly woman crashed into her car, so she brought it to the defendant for repair. She claims the vehicle is in worse shape now than before and needs even more work, so she’s suing for damages over a negligent repair. The defendant says he told the plaintiff the car was totaled, but she insisted he try to repair it.

    Then, the plaintiff says she hired the defendant to build a deck. He finished 90% of the job and then took off. She’s suing for the outstanding amount owed. The defendant says he completed the job, and the plaintiff is trying to get him to do extra work for free.

    Plus, the plaintiffs, a father and son, say the defendant damaged their truck with a metal pipe while they were both scrapping metal. The defendant agreed to pay for the damage, but he hasn’t yet, so they’re suing. The defendant says the co-plaintiff showed him a tiny little scratch on his vehicle, and he denies he’s responsible.

    Dissing a Co-Worker Oct 31, 2022

    The plaintiff says she loaned her co-worker some money, but the defendant became hostile and aggressive when the plaintiff asked for repayment. Bottom line, she wants her money back, so she’s suing. The defendant says the plaintiff started assigning hard tasks to her at work, so she complained to HR and the plaintiff got suspended. She claims that’s why she’s being sued.

    Then, the plaintiff says he brought his van to the defendant’s repair shop, but the guy’s shoddy work caused the engine to blow. He’s suing for all the money he’s out. The defendant says the plaintiff was so belligerent that he had to call the cops. He’s not paying for anything.

    You Killed My Dog Oct 28, 2022
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says the defendant left a sickly foster dog with her, so she brought him to the vet. Unfortunately, the dog passed away in her care. She’s distraught he died in her arms, but now the defendant refuses to cover the vet fees. The defendant claims the plaintiff did something to harm her dog and then brought him to the ER even though he only had a 5% chance of survival.

    Then, the plaintiff says she hired the defendant to fix her transmission, but they guy got in way over his head and installed faulty parts. The police ended up getting involved, but she’s suing to get her money back so she can get her car fixed properly. The defendant says he installed a new axle and transmission, but the plaintiff won’t allow him to program the work in the car’s computer.

    Man, Are You Difficult to Live With Oct 27, 2022
    Show notes

    The plaintiff says he and the defendant lived together. He claims the man turned out to be a narcissist who was polite when guests came over but a nightmare when he was on his own. He even threatened the plaintiff with a baseball bat. The plaintiff is suing for exterminator and security deposit fees. The defendant claims the plaintiff was a slob who didn’t uphold his end of the living bargain. He denies owing anything.

    Then, the plaintiffs say they bought a puppy from the defendant, but the vet told them the dog had worms and coccidia. They had to deal with the health issues for a month, so they’re suing for the vet bills. The defendant claims the puppy was fine when the plaintiffs took him home, and she says the dog must have picked something up in their care.

    Then, the plaintiff says he brought his car to the defendant for repair, but the dishonest man lied about using new parts and never resolved the issue with the engine. He’s suing for what he’s owed. The defendant says he fixed the car just fine, and now he’s being sued.

    Letting His Friend Down Oct 25, 2022

    The plaintiff says she and the defendant are friends and fellow gamers, so she loaned him money for a new PlayStation 5. He also cracked her TV, but he hasn’t paid anything back. The defendant says the plaintiff gave him the money to buy her a PS5, but he hasn’t found one yet. He also insists he covered the damaged TV.

    Then, the plaintiff says he hired the defendant to work on his bathroom, but he did a poor job. He promised to come back and complete the repairs, but now he’s giving the plaintiff the runaround, so he’s getting sued. The defendant says he did the work and the plaintiff okayed it, and then three months later, the plaintiff accused him of breaking a tile, which he denies.

    The plaintiff says the defendant is her ex-boyfriend. She says she loaned him money when he asked her, but now the con artist is refusing to pay her back, so she’s suing. The defendant says the money was a gift and his ex is only suing because they broke up and he has a new girlfriend.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant is his hellish next-door neighbor, whose brother rammed his car into his fence. He had to have it repaired and the defendant won’t pay for it, so he’s suing. The defendant claims he had someone lined up to fix it at a third of the cost, but the plaintiff went ahead on his own.

    Feline Foible Oct 20, 2022

    The plaintiff says the defendant’s cat attacked her cat several times and the nasty neighbor is refusing to cover her vet bills. She’s suing for the costs. The defendant says he’s genuinely sorry the plaintiff’s old cat was injured, as he loves animals, but he claims it’s a case of mistaken identity. He says it was another cat who attacked.

    Then, the plaintiff says the defendant opened his car door one day just as she was driving by and never even looked. She hit the door and damaged her car. She’s suing for the state max to cover the repairs. The defendant says the plaintiff was the one who hit him since his door was already open, and she misjudged the distance.
