    The People’s Court Podcast

    The honorable Judge Marilyn Milian presides over the four-time Emmy award winning “The People’s Court.” For more than two decades, Milian has dispensed justice and provided legal insight in the courtroom where justice and reality collide. And now, you can take the show on the go with “The People’s Court Podcast.”

    “The People’s Court Podcast” draws on ordinary people who have filed grievances in civil court and have opted to have their cases heard and mediated by Judge Milian. Running the gamut from disputes between neighbors and family members, to dissatisfied customers suing businesses, Milian’s decisions – based on current law – are final and binding.

    Joining Milian is multiple Emmy Award-winning investigative reporter Harvey Levin, who serves as the series’ host and legal reporter. In the courtroom, Milian is joined by court officer Douglas McIntosh. Doug Llewelyn interviews litigants after a decision has been rendered in their cases.

    The plaintiff says he rented an apartment to the defendant, but her kids were unruly and wrecked the place. He’s suing for all the repairs he had to make when they moved out. The defendant says the plaintiff is petty. She insists the place was clean when she left, and she’s countersuing for her security deposit.

    Then, the plaintiff hired the defendant to replace window screens in her condo building. She says all the screens blew off the building when it got windy, and no one showed up when they were scheduled to be fixed. She’s suing for a refund. The defendant says she will fix the screens and even has the materials ready, but she doesn’t want to refund the money.

    Not Fencing in a Customer Oct 03, 2022

    The plaintiff says she hired the defendant to build a fence around her property to protect her dogs from wildlife. She claims she paid him and he disappeared without finishing the job. She’s suing for her money back. The defendant claims he completed most of the work and says the plaintiff was so paranoid that she followed him to the hospital when he went there for an eye infection. He says he wasn’t paid in full and owes nothing.

    Then, the plaintiff had just finished his hardwood floors and scheduled his couch to be delivered. He claims the defendant and the delivery men ruined his newly finished floors, so he’s suing for the cost of repairs. The defendant argues he pointed out a scuff on the floor and even offered to fix it even though he wasn’t sure if he and his men caused it, but the plaintiff refused.

    Making a Real Mess of Things Sep 30, 2022

    The plaintiff and the defendant were dating the same man, and the defendant leaked naked pictures of the plaintiff on the Internet, causing irreparable harm, and she also stole a PlayStation 5. The plaintiff is suing for what she’s owed. The defendant says the PS5 didn’t belong to the plaintiff, so she has no right to sue. She’s countersuing.

    Then, the plaintiff dated the defendant for a long time, but they broke up in the 1980s. He says his ex-girlfriend gave away his welding tools without his permission and now won’t give him the money from the sale, so he’s suing. The defendant argues the plaintiff has been keeping his stuff on her property for years, so he’s basically been getting free storage. She got rid of the equipment when she was cleaning out her house and doesn’t think she owes him.

    Taking a Guy's Car Sep 29, 2022

    The plaintiff alleges the defendant illegally towed his car while he was at the dentist even though he has a handicap placard. He’s suing her for maximum punitive damages. The defendant claims the plaintiff parked in her private lot and blocked the entrance despite the no parking signs, and then he walked to his dentist a block away. She says she’s not the one at fault and owes him nothing.

    Then, the plaintiff hired the defendant to install a vent and outlets in her bathroom. She claims she paid him for the work, but he never showed up. She’s suing for a refund. The defendant argues he spent lots of time at the plaintiff’s house preparing for the work, but then she changed her mind and now wants her money back.

    Doing Nothing Sep 28, 2022

    The plaintiff hired the defendant to design a logo and website for his nonprofit, but the defendant didn’t finish the job. He’s suing for his money back. The defendant says he completed the work, but the plaintiff wouldn’t provide written approval. He’s countersuing for the amount outstanding on the contract.

    Then, the plaintiff hired the defendant to sand and re-stain her hardwood floors. She claims the defendant showed up late and did a horrible job. Another floor guy even said it was a “disaster.” She’s suing for the return of a security deposit and damages. The defendant argues the plaintiff’s boyfriend was hostile to him and he refuses to pay her back. He’s countersuing for the balance owed on the job.

    The plaintiff says the defendant hired him to work on his 1978 sailboat, which had sunk twice. He claims the man posted defamatory comments online and he wants them taken down. He’s suing for the max for defamation, slander, and injunctive relief. The defendant claim the plaintiff didn’t know what he was doing and admits posting the negative comments. He’s countersuing for the value of stolen items.

    Then, the plaintiff rented an apartment to the defendant. She says the defendant moved out in the middle of the night without telling her and therefore broke the lease. The plaintiff says he stopped paying rent and even left a rifle under the bed. She’s suing for two months of rent. The defendant argues the plaintiff did not have any respect for his privacy and doesn’t owe her anything. He’s countersuing for a refund on rent.

The defendant claims the plaintiffs continually broke the rules, so she ended their tenancy and returned their security deposit. She’s countersuing for damages and rent owed.

    Then, the plaintiffs are a husband and wife. The husband went to high school with the defendant, so they hired the defendant to build two new decks on their house. The plaintiffs say the decks were built incorrectly and in bad shape. They’re suing for their money back. The defendant argues the plaintiffs were happy with the work and shared photos of the decks when the work was finished.

The plaintiff is suing for unpaid rent. The defendant claims her ex-friend body-shamed her on social media and kicked her out of the house. She denies owing any rent.

    Then, the plaintiff says she bought hair extensions from the defendant, but the quality was so bad that her friends laughed. She’s suing for a full refund. The defendant says the plaintiff has always been a difficult client, and there’s no way she’s refunding anything after the woman wore the extensions for two months. She’s countersuing for money still owed.

    The plaintiff says she dropped off 156 items of clothing at the defendant’s dry-cleaning business, but for some reason, he donated all of them during the pandemic. The plaintiff is suing for all she’s owed for the clothing. The defendant claims the plaintiff brought the items in in September 2019 and still hadn’t picked them up by February 2021. He says he’s only responsible for keeping items for 30 days, and he’s countersuing for dry-cleaning and storage.
